50049 gives mega thrash away from Derby Station. 21/07/21

50007 & 50049 were hired in to move new units to and from Derby Litchurch lane works to Worksop North yard for I believe five day, but they only ran on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, so I made the right choice to go on the Wednesday to get the move on film 21/07.

Great video 😎👍🏽 Reminds me of 36 years ago today..Wednesday 25th July 1984, after a whole days spotting on Birmingham New Street, we got the late running 1V92 13:20 Glasgow-Swansea back home to South Wales behind 50035 “Ark Royal” - 86256 “Pebble Mill” hastily gave way to 50035 as the service was 55 late. We had a very spirited run back to Wales with “Ark Royal” via Gloucester and Chepstow and we managed to gain 10 minutes back by Cardiff 😀👍🏽🎉🎉 I loved the 50’s, temperamental machines, but when driven by a driver that knew how to handle them properly, they were fantastic power houses 😀👍🏽🎉

@@antman09ful1 no problem...yes if only we could wind the clock back to the 1980’s 😀😎👍🏽 I remember that day huge excitement at New Street as the 06:25 Poole-Manchester was seen leaving Leamington Spa in the hands of “bagpipe” 33111 😧 We all thought we would see it at New Street but it was swapped at Coventry for 86243 😢 The bagpipe then worked a later Manchester-Brighton back south from Coventry. I remember seeing 50008 and 50036 that day at New Street along with 47560 “Tamar” working a Poole-Glasgow, 47480 “Robin Hood”, 47470 “University of Edinburgh” working up from the South West, 45001 “peak” on a York to Plymouth, 45106 and 45119 also made appearances that day as did 47544, 47510 “Fair Rosamund” and 45137 “The Beds & Herts Regiment TA” which was leaving on a Leeds-Cardiff as we arrived on 253051 (43183&43184) working the 07:00 Plymouth-Newcastle (that train was packed by Bristol...we had to scramble for seats) - the sun was shining 😎☀️🌴 it was the first time I had got to see the AC Electrics...I loved it...I remember taking photos of 87005, 87019, 86103, 86243 plus 87006 “City of Glasgow” in a new large number and logo livery with a grey background 👀😀👍🏽 watching all that loco swapping was fascinating too...that day will always stick in my mind as one of the best days ever observing trains 😎👍🏽
