It is scary how the serum was changing Sherman's physical appearance but also his personality Buddy's existence did more bad to Sherman's life than good. Honestly Sherman accepting himself is the best part of the movie

Yeah, it would be a gold mine. But it wouldn't last very long. Someone's personality being completely taken over by another is a pretty big side effect. But give that to the UK and we'll test it and test it and find a way to get rid of that side effect, before it hits the market.

@@BooksInTheVoid actually no because if we all become perpetually horny, shallow assholes, then it will become normal and be some sort of twisted paradise. once a lot of people take it, they will force others to and it will spread like a virus. even if the government intervenes, some of the effected will simply seduce them into trusting them then force it down their throats to turn them as well. it would ironically be some sort of paradise dystopia

Fun fact: the director originally wanted to cast John Goodman as the fat professor, but he would have had to lose a lot of weight.

The Comedy aspect, No WAY. But I could see different communities getting behind a premise like this, epseically over the past couple of years with 'pro-ana' and 'body positivity' communities. Thought the movie would have a LOT of it's teeth taken out of it. What I really find interesting is seeing a movie like this where it's the MAN dealing with body image issues and self-worth, and that it's a LOT of things that can lead to obesity, like genetics and mental health, not just appetite/over eating. And that it's important to be healthy, but also to do it with respect and kindness for yourself.

I recap this movie a few days ago and didn't get 5% of the views, I am happy you recap and give it the exposure it needed.

When this movie came out on VHS, I was working in a CD store and we'd play newly released on the tv's. We put this one on, and the store was packed when the dinner table scene came on and they were all farting... the entire store stood there watching the tv's and laughing their asses off. It was truly magical! lol

couldn't tell if its a horror movie or a comedy when i was little

I remember this movie when I watched it as a kid. Such a classic 😂
