    This made me feel better about the chair I have. The "Best Massage" it retails on Amazon for barely over 1000. Gives a great massage. Appears to have most of the same features as shown in the Infinity. Some of these more expensive chairs feature sound which is nice. But I do have top quality ear buds. What I do like is the once with voice response where I think it would be nice to be able to call out instructions. Sometimes I do want more neck attention. I've been using my chair for a little over a month and what impresses me is the randomness of the massage. I never know what is coming next in the program, which I find nice. I am dreading the day should the chair ever break. These things do a hell of a lot of sustained work.

    Thanks for replaying this video Dr. Weidner (I must have missed it during Covid last year). There is such a WIDE DIFFERENCE in massage chairs that most consumers have no idea (or they are mislead by questionable marketing tactics by some brands). We would love to see a comparison of our Luraco i7 PLUS to ANY OTHER PREMIUM chair you carry (I noticed Sui Generes's request for a comparison to his Real Relax chair... we would love your viewers to see the difference. With that said, the hardest thing for people to understand is that each chair will have its own unique "feel" that can't come across in a video. Test driving a chair is a challenge if people don't live near a brick-and-mortar retailer but this type of comparison is WONDERFUL for educating consumers.

  • @massagechairrelief

    For as long as I've been in the industry (16 years), Panasonic massage chairs have always been equated with quality. That still applies today. It is more than just the name. Although their chairs are all made in China now (instead of Japan, as it used to be when I started), the quality is still very, very good. As a matter of fact, their roller mechanism is arguably the most sophisticated and precise roller mech in the industry! We expect a Panasonic chair to last 20 years or more. The same could be said nowadays for many of the current premium massage chairs, i.e. OHCO, Human Touch, Infinity, Positive Posture, Luraco, Daiwa, etc. I hope this helps! dr. w.

    Yes, the Infinity Genesis Max is an L-track chair, which means the rollers go down into the buttocks. Most L-track chairs don't reach the middle of the thigh but definitely the top of the thigh. • @massagechairrelief

    @massagechairrelief

    Airbags were originally invented to create a compression motion on the muscles of the legs and arms. Over the years, their deployment became a bit more sophisticated, i.e. seat movement, lifting up the body, and anchoring the torso to increase the intensity of the back rollers. Nowadays, they are also being used to knead the calf muscles, rotate the lower back, massage the head, and massage the trapezia muscles. So, they actually do quite a bit in today's chairs. • @massagechairrelief

    The problem with the cheaper nobular style of "rollers" is that each disc has a space between it and the next one, preventing any massage at all from hitting those spaces. Also, the nobular disc does not move in and out to offer 3D depth changes for adjusting roller intensity. FInally, the disc can only do one thing, and that's rotate in the same spot over and over. There is no preferential changing of massage modes from kneading to tapping to rolling, etc. with the discs. Only one motion and that is a circular rubbing of the spot. Nor is there a speed change, which can also simulate a more or less intense roller massage. I hope that makes sense. dr. w.

    Isn't the intent of the external mic BETTER audio quality? You guys would have been WAY better off just using an iPhone with built in mic to record this. The constant blast of breath is loud and distracting which makes this a difficult watch to focus on what you're saying even though I want to know the material. That technicality aside, what's the limit on ROI for over-engineering? If you're $5k chair were built of titanium and unobtanium and cost $25k could I argue that it really wouldn't be any better than your $5k chair in use and reliability? There become a point where the over-engineering is just ways to pad the cost and claim reliability but I think these cheaper massage chairs have proven you can get a good massage and good service life for a lot less money ultimately. I mean hell, you can buy a new $500 chair every year for a decade before they get to the same investment of your $5k chair. Yeah, I did the math in my head on that one. ROFL Also, you said that there's a 4" section of the user's back in the "cheap" chair that is never even touched. You then move to the $5k chair and I see the same pattern repeated on that one so.... seems to be a similar omission from what I saw. Also, 5' 8" is tall? Nice try. Keep telling yourself that. I just ran across your comment this morning. I'm so sorry for not addressing it earlier. Thanks for the audio quality comment. I've heard it before. We actually upgraded our audio recording system at the end of 2020 which hopefully gives a better sound quality in the videos made since then. The remainder of your questions can be addressed by you actually sitting in the different chairs. I can tell from your comments that you've not sat on many different chairs side by side to feel and see the noticeable differences. It's hard for folks to really know the difference between the chair quality without sitting in them. We have lower priced chairs in our showroom along with the premium chairs and, I can assure you, customers notice the difference between the two subsets. It may not be all that important to you, but it is very important to many customers. And much of that difference can be attributed to the engineering of the chair and it's composite components. "ROI for over-engineering" seems like a relative phrase. Define over-engineering. If better engineering results in a better massage experience, that may be well worth it to a customer and would not be considered over-engineering. Maybe "better engineering" is a more suitable phrase. Better engineering results in better quality, but I agree that it usually has a higher associated cost that people are still willing to pay for. Kind of like cars and buildings, I suppose. I also suppose the "limit on over-engineering" is determined by what the market will bear...aka what the customer will pay for. Agreed? Not sure where I mentioned that 5'8" was tall. I have never considered myself tall (tough for a kid who loved to play basketball growing up but could never really compete with the big boys)! However, for some chair models, particularly the cheaper ones, I am actually too tall for them...even at 5'8". I completely agree with your comment about being able to purchase a new $500 chair every year for many years and still not pay what a customer would pay for a $5000 chair. That is certainly a valid approach to chair buying. However, the untold story includes the headaches a customer goes through trying to get their chair fixed if they want to avoid buying a new one soon after they purchased it. It might be "only " $500, but for many it is $500 of hard earned money and good customer support is often lacking in the cheaper chair models. The premium chairs aren't for everyone. That is why, as I said in the video, these lower-priced chairs fill the needs of a good sized segment of the market who otherwise would not be able to afford and enjoy the benefits provided by a massage chair. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my video. Great input. It is much appreciated. dr. w.

    This is a really bad example. This video subject is great, but it's so utterly obvious of a HUGE difference between these, the video almost comes off condescending. Like I'm stupid enough to buy that cheap one. People like me who could afford to buy a 15,000 chair, simply aren't that dumb.. i can afford a chair but why blow my money paying huge premiums when there's potentially a more competitive product, for much much les that appears to function exactly the same. Why not do comparison with a truly challenging cheap chair, which there are DOZENS under $1,500 chairs with rollers, robotic L tracks, airbags, 3D, Bluetooth, zero gravity....every popular feature can be found in most chairs under $1,500, anyone who buys a $500 chair deserves to get scammed. Talk about the difference, if any, REAL RELAX SL chair and high end....that would be an interesting and useful video....this just comes off as being quite convenient for making premium chairs look like the only smart play. When you showed the inside made of plastic, I rolled my eyes. Come on man, no cheap plastic chairs are chewing up HUGE portions of market share in the massage chair market....REal competitiors are selling product because they're producing legitimate contenders for much less.. This example is just stupid and nobody who can afford a premium chair would be that stupid,, so it just comes off deceptive. It's not that simple, there's much better more competitive chairs for only $300-400 more, than this horrible worst chair you could find example. REAL RELAX sells on Amazon, no name Chinese brand, appears to have everything the premiums do....that matters. Let's see that honest comparison video

    Thank you for your comments, Sui. No example is a bad example when it comes to comparisons, so long as it helps answer questions for the consumer. We get calls all the time asking what the differences are between a $500 chair and the expensive premium chairs. That was the motivation behind this video. Many of the people who ask us are not able to afford a $15,000, as you are, and genuinely want to know what the differences are between the two price points because they genuinely do not know and really are afraid of making a buying mistake. This video is in response to those inquiries. As a matter of fact, I believe it was the only comparison video of two different brand chairs, and their internals, on KZread at that time. No condescension was intended with that video. I think I even made in clear in the video that there is a place for both price points based on the customer's needs, wants, and budget. By the way, the model we used in our video is a Real Relax model purchased from Amazon. We did not disclose that in the video in order to protect their brand. But, since you are bringing their brand into this discussion, suggesting that their models should have been used in our comparison, now we have full disclosure. If you are saying that for $300-$400 more, their SL model is significantly better, then perhaps they should make that more clear to the customers looking at their models on Amazon? Why do they sell such a cheap chair when a customer could get a chair comparable to the Infinity Genesis for only $300-$400 more? I would suggest that one reason is because they are selling to a segment of the market that cannot afford $300-$400 more. Perhaps a video comparing the Real Relax model we used to the Real Relax SL you suggest, would also be very helpful for massage chair shoppers. Wouldn't you agree? Your comments lead me to believe that you know quite a lot about how the different massage chairs in the market compare to each other, particularly the Real Relax brand. I would love to also do a comparison of their SL model with, say, the OHCO M.8 or the Luraco iRobotics 7 Plus. I have trouble imagining that the quality of the engineering and build is comparable. I agree that many, if not most, of the cheaper massage chairs have the same features as the premium chairs, i.e. "rollers, L-tracks, airbags, 3D, Bluetooth, zero gravity...every popular feature", but I would argue that the quality of the components and the chair build will not be the same. Perhaps I am wrong, but I'd love to do a comparison for you and our viewers. I think that comparing the factories and failure rates would be helpful as well, but I doubt the cheaper brands would disclose that information for a more thorough quality comparison. I appreciate your comments, Sui. They invite fruitful discussion. I will plan on filming a video comparison of the Real Relax SL to 1.) the Real Relax model we used, and to 2.) one of the premium models mentioned above. I took at look at the Real Relax store on Amazon and it seems they have a lot of different SL models. Could you please tell me which model you speak of that is $300-$400 more than the $500 chair we used? I will purchase that chair immediately for some comparisons. I'd love your input on those comparisons as well. As a matter of fact, please reach out to me on our toll free number (888-259-5380) so that I can let you know when we film the video(s). Perhaps you could be there in person, if you so choose. It would be great to host you, especially since it is your comments that initiated this follow up comparison! Thank you, again. dr. w.

    "People like me that can afford 15,000 chair, simply aren't that stupid" That's most privileged and stupid comment I've seen in a while. It must be nice to know the intelligence of everyone that can afford a 15k chair. Tell me what's the intelligence difference between 10k and 15k chair owners? Do you get what they pay for?

    @@SlaytanicSuperstarr So true. This is after all a guy who could potentially get suckered in to buying a 15 thousand dollar chair. If its 15 thousand dollars you ought to be able to drive that thing to Starbucks.

    It is when someone wants to know what the difference is between a $500 chair and a $5000 chair. We get asked that all the time! dr. w.
