50 Year Transfer Embargo | FM22 Experiment
Ойындар
Welcome to TomFM! In today's Football Manager 2022 experiment video I put every club from the top 5 leagues in Europe, the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1, under a 50 year transfer embargo to see how it affected those clubs, who would survive and who would fail. But it was also really interesting to see in this FM22 experiment how new clubs came through and dominated World Football.

Southampton winning the PL in 2067 and getting relegated within two years was bizarre
It occurred to me that Brentford don't have a youth academy in real life, presumably that's the same in the game. I guess they couldn't produce any decent regens.

It's quite fitting that Milan stayed in the top flight while Inter didn't, considering Inter's foundation being because they wanted to allow foreigners in the team.

Castrense plays currently in the 5th division in Portugal (regional leagues) and have won the Euro League twice there lol
I think it would be fun to watch a series with this twist because you have no clue of which player is good based on your previous experience. For example try to bring back Tottenham in this save or even teams in 2nd divion like Bayern or PSG.
I used to play for Solihull Moors so proud moment in a completely non real simulation
The funny thing is Real Madrit B was demoted to third tier despite winning 2 tier 3 years in a row!!! Thats because main team dropped from 1 tier and Spanish rules make same team in 1 league impossible

Go ten/fifteen years into the future after the ban and see if the bigger teams can work their way back into the top leagues.
Telstar reached the Europa League Final in 2055/56 😳
i just want to point out that the Serie A european place are changed. the other 4 leagues surprisingly havent changed but Italy has. This means the quality of Serie A clubs in the UCL has dropped significantly. You can tell by the 2 UCL spots for Serie A which means the "quality" in the league is good but as soon as these clubs enter the UCL they are probably out in the group stages. It wouldn't surprise me if Portugal and Holland got more UCL spots at the expense of Italy

You love to see a good experiment. Would be a great idea to pick up a save after the embargo ends. Maybe to all European League's and their top 4 League's and see what happens.
Great content love these kind of uploads
Hamburg, Schalke and Las Palmas dominating Europe, what a fever dream But Hamburg and Schalke make sense since they are two of the biggest German clubs, they just mismanaged their way to the 2nd Bundesliga
It's quite disappointing to see how FM can allow a multiple premier league winning team to still have terrible facilities and a 3k stadium.

the game has been bad for details like that this year. the newest updates haven't even added the 5 subs rule for this coming season. probably the first year i've ever been disappointed with it, I think it was made almost entirely remote during the pandemic tbf
Must be easier for teams that can still buy to rise through the leagues because out of contract players would be theirs to cherry pick from, Solihull Moors must have got high enough to have enough rep to start stockpiling amazing freebies.
Germany and Italy has the best youth setup along with Portugal. No surprise there when English and spanish clubs stop buying players from those leagues and they dominated because now they can retain their top players
def do a video on just solihull moors, that was awesome that they had somehow done it in such a dominating fashion!
By the way, Racing Santander has not been in La Liga for years now. Probably closer to a decade at this point. They have just been promoted back to La Liga 2 in 2021/22 season actually. How did Brentford lose twice in a row the UCL finals and then dropped to non-league? Mysteries... Also Castrense have enjoyed some titles. That's something. Was a pleasure seeing Grazer AK in european cups. Hopefully they reach Bundesliga finally. Also Hertha has a successful season with a final of Europa League just 2 years prior and then got relegated. FC Dnipro vibes... But Solihull Moors are the diamond of this game.

Love the vid Tom
For people who dont know much about Dutch football, the 55/56 Final with Telstar who in rl have been in the Dutch second tier since 1979 and with their highest ranking in that league being 4th in 82. what a bloody suprise that is. i really wana see the state of the Eredivisie in this game save.
19:30 you missed Mexico winning the 2022 World Cup !
im still trying to understand how a team that is currently in the 5th division in portugal has won the europa league... twice (fc castrense)
If that actually happened in really life 1) could imagine clubs legal teams been busy as hell 2) clubs construction team be extra busy - 3) they be a new fight club for scouts ( winner gets player )
It be interesting to actually play a game like this where every team is on even footing when it comes to transfer embargo. And you have to make the best out it with your youth facilities.
Mexico won the WC in 2022?!?
Future looking bright for Bristol City!
I remember I seen a video which went a thousand years into the future and a player with my dads full name and the team we support was the best player in the world and it creeped me out. Especially when we don’t have a popular surname
OB in the conference league final! I've never been this happy
Such a strange experiment, almost predictable at times. Of course teams with transfer embargos are going to struggle, interesting to see if everyone had the embargo.
You should do it again but 10 years skip and then 20 It's too much years. We want to see how teams will manage to play in the short time.
Solihull Moors are my local non league side. Pleasantly surprised about this video!
Can't believe you glossed over Aldershot having an "invincibles" season!
Be interesting to see a mirror image of the leagues, so prem teams conference championship to league 2 and league 1 stay where they are.
I live how it's allegedly Man City Homegrown when they have access to youth academies from like 7 other good clubs around the world they own. They and Red Bull just consume the best players from the other academies, so nit really homegrown.
As someone who lives just around the corner from Damson Park this is very strange to see
I love how Eric Garcia was sacked by a German second divison club in 2070.
Saw your tiktok. Great idea, despite the fact Man United didn't thrive given their Academy.
What happened in the 2nd spanish league at 8:55? Real Madrid's B team won the league in 2067/68 and 2068/69, but are in the 3rd division the season after. Does that mean that Real Madrid's main team was just promoted? Because as far as I know, a club can't play in the same division as it's B team. If I'm not wrong here, that would be mental tbh edit: Austria winning the euros in 2068 aigainst Germany, whilst also being host with Switzerland is kinda funny to see as an Austrian myself
I think a deep dive into the English league from this file is needed. How did Brentford dominate and now out yne league and how are Solihull winning woth a 3k capacity stadium. And the mighty Gas 3rd in the Premier league, you love to see it.
@MrHoopski

i dont think they would be allowed play in the stadium , I think there is a min stadium capacity
That's mental how far teams have fallen
It's funny to me that RB Salzburg has been to 6 european finals (1 CL, 4 EL, 1 ECL) without winning, yet WSG, BW Linz and Klagenfurt all managed to snag a title for Austria. It's odd considering their ability to scout talent from weaker leagues before dumping them off to big teams. With the biggest leagues under embargo, they'd still have Haaland, Mane, Minamino, Keita, Szoboslai, Daka, Hwang, etc.
“Racing are in the first tier at the start of this” man i wish
I'd like to see the Solihull rise video
There was a Lyon at French National league.
is there a way you could lock transfers to countries and nationality of players? so prem teams can only buy english or welsh
That Brendford case needs investigation ;o
It's really nice for me to see 1860 Munich as champions league winners
It’s always weird in these to see teams that shouldn’t have been affected also fall down. Unless I’m blind, Wrexham seemed to disappear from the playable leagues. Just seems bizarre that all the teams falling from above wouldn’t naturally pull national league teams up
bro its football post-apocalypse 💀💀💀
What always gets me is, how many southern teams end up in the 6th tier of English football, the National League South, in these experiments. There must be if geographically, Harrow have been placed in the northern league. Harrow is the most stereotypically southern place in England I could imagine.
can u maybe link the file to the save in the desc for future expiriments so we can chechk our own things also :) great vid
Wish there was a way to make country specific embargo, so will seee clubs with only their own nations (dunno UK, but). Not just main leagues, but whole countries.
@mrorlov2706

I think it is possible to do as i have seen some people do complete legionere limit saves for some countries.
Good idea, mate, but not quite good execution. It's normal for Schalke and Hamburger to dominate the league, as they are in the 2nd division at the start, even tho they are quite rich in the game. It will be more interesting to ban ALL transfers in the game. This will make teams use only youth academy products, like all teams, not only top-tier teams.
As a Dortmund fan I have to say.....nightmare. 😂
This is an interesting experiment. The main take away from me is that the game is not very well designed. As you say, the big Championship teams (Forest, Sheffield United etc) should come in and take over, if the logic was programmed well. If you test a good sim game, it should perform as you'd expect in real life, or it's not working properly.
Glad to see my team, Cosenza, winning Serie A, the conference and europa league

The fact that Real Madrid's B team were the title holders means they were arguably better than their relegated first team that season!? Obviously would've had to have been relegated despite finishing first when the 1st team came down 😂
Real Madrid B won LaLiga, but had to relegate due to their first team I think
Notice the little change to Bundesliga, due to the high amounts of homegrown players ;)
in Bundesliga 2/3 of the Teams changed. So its a big change.
Just a question , is it posible to recreate the old pre 1995 rules changes on maximum number of foreign players and transfers . As that would make some interesting leagues and results. a champions league where only champions could compete , makes you wonder how things turn out.
I expected the Eredivisie to gain more on the other leagues with the transfer ban since it is a good competition for young talents but the best players always go on transfer to the 5 biggest competitions

so i just downloaded this save file Patreon Sub version and saw that some of the teams the embargo isnt in place while others its in place till 2301. went to launch in at 2065 file as the dates after that dont seem to work. but was dissapointed to see the only playable nation as Wales, when i tried to add the major nations as playable the game crashed. probably because some of the clubs also seem to have over a billion pound stadium rent which explains why they do so bad
How did you hover over Europa league and not even realise Colchester United won it
The youth draw is one big lottery, so it makes sense that things get shuffled. That´s only one problem, the other being that some teams don´t produce much youth if any at all. Another can of worms is players and their unhappiness if not given the right contract because the club can´t afford the wages, do they just leave and end up rotting in the list? This also probably means that a club like Man Utd. released a lot of semi decent players on a free instead of keeping them.
Col u winning the conference league 🤣😭

Look at doing a transfer embargo on USA and Mexico leagues.
