Hey everybody! Thanks for watching this video of 50 Crazy Music Fun-Facts. I've wanted to do something casual like this for a little while. I love trivia, I love music, so this came naturally. Some of these are more well-known than others, but for the most part, they're 100% true! I did my best to fact check everything. There are a few technicalities in there, but whatever. Hope you like it!

For those too lazy to check the Wikipedia article on Mayhem, the lead singer Dead committed suicide in 1991, and the guitarist Euronymous photographed his body to use as the cover art for their bootleg live album, Dawn of the Black Hearts. Euronymous took bits of Dead's skull and made necklaces for members of the black metal scene. Bassist Necrobutcher was disgusted and quit the band, and he was replaced by Varg Vikernes. Vikernes then stabbed Euronymous to death 2 years later.

"Motörhead" by Hawkwind, was the first rock song to include the word "Paralellogram" in its lyrics. and "Motörhead" was the last song that Lemmy wrote for Hawkwind before getting kick out of the band. As well as "Motorhead" was the first song that Lemmy covered with his new band called Motörhead (the original name for the band was called "Bastards") for their debut album called Motörhead (Badly forgot to add this in) Before having Brian Johnson to front AC\DC prior to the death of Bon Scott, both of the Young brother first choice to replace Bon was Noddy Holder (Front-Man of Slade) but he declined

Oh also on the Iommi fact, the reason guitars in metal is downtuned is because it was too painful for him to do typical tuning so he downtuned his guitar so it didn’t hurt as bad on his fingers. Now downtuning is a standard of metal as a result.

the sex pistols were a manufactured boy band put together by Malcolm McLaren based on what they looked like not their musical ability. Jimi Hendrix only had one song make it into the Billboard top 40 in the US making him (technically) a one hit wonder and it wasn't even one of his songs, it was a cover of Bob Dylan's all along the watchtower
Prince fun fact: He mastered 27 instruments and played all of them on his first 5 albums
Continuing with the “In-a-gadda-da-vida” facts, the song-well over 11 minutes-was originally supposed to be a short 60s rock song similar to the common length of music then, but while the band, Iron Butterfly, was in the studio messing around, one of the production assistants (I believe when the producer was out of the studio) started recording them because they thought it sounded really good, and then it became the entire “B” side of their album with the same name, as well as one of the most popular psychedelic rock songs of the 1960s.

Addition to the smells like teen spirit part: the people who spray painted the phrase were Kurt’s Girlfriend at the time, Tobi Vail and her band mate, Kathleen Hanna. The band the women were in was Bikini Kill, the band that coined the rrr in riot grrrl and one of the most successful and popular bands in that genre.
Extra Trivia! Brian May from Queen built the guitar that he uses to this day when he was a teenager with his father. They carved the wood from an old mantle piece and used parts from an old motor bike in it. The whammy bar was one of his mother's knitting needles. Oh, and Brian also has a PhD in astrophysics and was one of the people who assisted NASA with getting a probe to Pluto as part of the New Horizons project.

One of the rappers of 90s alternative hip hop trio Digable Planets ("Rebirth of Slick") is Lil Tracy's dad. Also Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar who has worked closely with The Beatles' George Harrison is Norah Jones' dad. Stevie Wonder played almost all the instruments on his albums, including drums despite being blind. Sting sings background vocals on Dire Straits' "Money for nothing". Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers played the bass line on Young MC's "Bust a move" and Kerry King from Slayer played the guitar solo on "No Sleep til Brooklyn" by the Beastie Boys. Sinead O'Connors hit "Nothing Compares 2 U", the Bangles' "Manic Monday", Alicia Keys' "How come you don’t call me anymore" and Chaka Khan's "I feel for you" were all written by Prince.

Martha Wash of the Weather Girls is the one that sings "Everybody Dance Now" on C&C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat." She wasn't credited, and in the video they used a skinny young woman (Martha is overweight), so she sued and won, leading legislation to be passed regarding crediting singers for their appearances.

Extra Trivia! The band ZZ Top got their start pretending the be the band The Zombies. The song Time of the Season had just become a massive hit in the US and people were wanting to hear them live. The thing is that The Zombies were an English band and had broken up so no tours. A promoter, realizing that there was money to be had, hired, not one but two groups to portray themselves as the Zombies to US crowds. He later tried the same thing with the Animals but the lead singer of that band went to a concert with a bunch of Hell's Angels and chased them off of the stage in the middle of a concert.
51. The explosion before the chorus of The Bee Gees song "Tragedy" was done by Barry Gibb's mouth and hands over a microphone because the studio did not have a sound effect machine.
I loved this format, please do more of those
So we just gonna ignore that this man just informed us of the musical prodigi that is flava flave
Extra Trivia! Lenny Kravitz wrote the song 'Johnny Cash'. The song contains odd lyrics if you don't know the story behind it. 'Hold me like Johnny Cash. Whisper in my ear like June Carter...' Lenny was driving when he received word that his mother had died. Not trusting himself to keep driving he stopped at a recording studio he was familiar with and broke down inside. Johnny Cash and his wife June Carter-Cash were leaving when they saw Lenny sobbing. After finding out what happened Johnny firmly embraced him and began praying. June was whispering encouraging things in his ear. They stayed with him for some time like this and Lenny has never forgotten the kindness they showed him in this moment.

Some fun Queen facts cuz I’m ✨a bit✨of a fan: Queen’s music has spent over 26 years on the UK album charts, and they are the only band ever to have each member compose a #1 hit. Brian May, their guitarist, is not only an amazing musician, but also an astrophysicist. He also holds a title as a Commander of the British Empire. Freddie Mercury and Brian May grew up in the same town, but never met each other before forming Queen. Roger Taylor (their drummer) once got mad during an argument and threw a TV at someone’s head. Fortunately, the TV missed its target and flew out the window without injuring anybody. When working on “Under Pressure” with David Bowie, John Deacon (Queen’s bassist) composed the bassline and then went out to get some food and a drink. While out, he forgot the bassline and the rest of the band had to help him remember it. “Bohemian Rhapsody” was originally 3 songs that Freddie was working on separately before deciding to put them all together. While in the process of creating the song, Freddie didn’t have a name for it so it was just called “Freddie’s Cowboy Song”. Roger once locked himself in a cupboard for several hours until the rest of the band agreed to release his song “I’m In Love With My Car” as the B-side to Bohemian Rhapsody. The band’s record label refused to release Bohemian Rhapsody as the lead single for their album “A Night at the Opera” because it was “too long”. Freddie took it to a radio station operator who played it a total of 12 times over 2 days, and that’s how it got so popular. The saying “ready Freddie?” comes from Queen’s song “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, an Elvis tribute that Freddie wrote in ten minutes while taking a bath in his hotel room in Munich. When the band heard that Bohemian Rhapsody had hit #1, they were stuck in an elevator because Freddie liked to push all the buttons and would always panic when the lift stopped. Queen’s song “The Show Must Go On” is one of their most vocally challenging songs. When the band went to record it, Freddie was so ill with aids that Brian thought he couldn’t do it. Freddie slammed some vodka, said “I’ll f*cking do it, darling” and recorded in one take.🥰 thx for coming to my Ted-talk 😂🤪
