I'm from Iran and live in Tehran, learning Turkish. I'm happy to see that a lot of words are the same in Farsi and Turkish. At least 15 words out of 50 were the same. And because I know English, it makes it even easier for me. In the north of Iran, people speak Turkish, and it would be even easier for them to learn Istanbul Turkish.

Great video! However, can you explain the pronunciation of R when it’s at the end of a word, which is at the end of a sentence? It’s seems to sound like rş. So at 3:09 Haber sounds like haberş. I hear this in duolingo too, but noticed that the ş sound isn’t there if the word ending R is in the middle of a sentence. This is the one thing that confuses me, as all teachers seem to say that the Turkish letters never change their sound. Thanks.

Its just a whistled R. I asked this also to my teacher(hocam) the turks from istanbul tend to whistle their R’s but you are fine just using the normal R. Other region differ in pronouncing the R. Dont worry about it.

The reason of you heard "Rş" is that, I guess, microphone problem. We don't say "Haberş". R is pronounced just like in Russian.

I can tell you, asla and hiç both have meaning of never and about ailesi and aile, ailesi means ''their'' family and aile means family the ''-si'' in aile''si'' is the one that change it to ''their family'' from just ''family'' i might also have done wrong stuff because i am still not a turkish expert but its my native language so i know most stuff

Hi! Hope this is not a very late answer and helps with your question :) As a native I sense some differences between Asla and Hiç. Asla gives a stronger feeling and although they both translate into never, there are some situations I prefer one of them to the other. Situations you can use both; Daily routines She never eats fish. She dislikes it. O Asla balık yemez OR O Hiç balık yemez. Sevmez. However sometimes I prefer one over the other. Hiç: I usually prefer using Hiç when I talk about "experiences". For example: Things I have never achieved: I have never been to London. / Daha önce "hiç" Londra'da bulunmadım. When you use Asla in this sentence, it sounds awkward and you give the impression that you are trying to deny something. I have never eaten sushi. / Daha önce hiç suşi yemedim. Things I have just managed to achieve: Daha önce "hiç" Londra'da bulunmamıştım. Daha önce "hiç" suşi yememiştim. / I have never eaten sushi before (but I have now). Asla: Asla gives a strong feeling of meaning and I prefer it in several occasions: Denial (Like denying an accusation): No way! He can't be the thief he is a very kind person. / Asla! Hırsız o olamaz. O çok iyi birisidir. Will never (Like you are giving promises): I will never hurt you again. / Seni bir daha "asla" üzmeyeceğim. Decisions: After seeing your behaviour I decided to never go to the cinema with you. / Bu davranışından sonra seninle bir daha "asla" sinemaya gitmemeye karar verdim. Aile is the root/base version of Family. Ailesi is the 3rd singular possessive version in Turkish. My family / (Ben-im) Aile-m > 1st singular possessive suffix Your family / (Sen-in) Aile-n > 2nd singular possessive suffix His, Her, Its Family / (O-nun) Aile-si > 3rd singular possessive suffix Our family / (Biz-im) Aile-miz > 1st plural possessive suffix Your family / (Siz-in) Aile-niz > 2nd plural possessive suffix Their family / (Onlar-ın) Aile-lesi > 3rd plural possessive suffix \ Talking about one family, like talking about the same one family of two siblings. Their families / (Onlar-ın) Aile-leri > 3rd plural possesive suffix \ Talking about more than one families that are related to each other

Yeah but Turkish must’ve gotten it thru Arabic or Persian, given the history.
