$100 bucks each on gun broker is a good deal. I wonder how many people already boght brass, fast powder and a tungsten rod from ebay to make slaps. Also if the sabot is damage the tip could tumble enogh to end up diging into the barrel and get stuck.

@@emmanuelgonzalez5599 It's not the round, it's the muzzle brake. Sabots or slap rounds apparently aren't designed for any old muzzle brake. The plastic on the round can collect on the muzzle brake slowly building more and more pressure. His main blessing was it missed his carotid.... outside a major surgical setting and without special training 98% of those are fatal before an ambulance can get there. Despite what Scott knows all the right things happened that day outside the kaboom. I'm amazed he's still here and praying for him every day

@TyzGamin Not a design flaw really, they are there to make sure the cap is fully screwed in. It's also quite possible in the time these rounds had been around, they could've been reloaded and loaded with the wrong powder. No one will ever know for sure.

I posted a video where I put my ultratech in a drill by the glass breaker and drilled a hole in a 2x4 which of course stripped the frame. I posted the video on my ig and tagged them and they told me to send it in! I did and they replaced the entire frame, clip, and glass breaker. They are amazing people and knives

Scott really out here breaking the 1st rule of Knife Safety, never point it towards yourself while cutting.

he should also wear body armor. If he would of had a helmet and bullet proof face shield, a vest, and kneck guard... his injuries wouldnt have been as drastic... esp since it was the shrapnel that almost killed him.

If the .30cal tungsten carbide core of the SLAP-T didn't break apart, tumbled or etc etc...the SLAP-T "probably" would had gone thru the 4th plate too. Spaced armor effect is to interfere the bullets trajectory. In this case the SLAP-T tungsten carbide core broke up.

@@piranhaplantX "spaced steel" is actually much more easier to penetrate than solid steel as long as the bullet's trajectory isn't affected by it. Going Ballistic actually had took my suggestion and made a vid to debunk that myth. The vid's called "Solid steel vs Stacked Steel".

@@7150285 if the space between the plates is longer than the length of the projectile it can cause the projectile to destabilize, an air gap won't make it easier though. I have seen the video you are talking about and he didn't put enough spacing between the plates.

@@PilotTed I remember you commented on my comment on that video, but like I said. If the bullet isn't destablized for any reason, it will still be easier to penetrate I'm pretty sure. Demo Ranch had done a vid on that too with AR500 body armors, also Jackal Moutain did too. You should check out their tests too if haven't.

Just a PSA from an experienced reloader, the KB that was experienced involving these SLAP rounds was almost guaranteed not to have been caused by the projectile, if anything it would likely have been caused by an incorrect charge or bad powder. The most forceful KBs one can experience are caused by what's known as detonation, usually due to an initial failure to fully ignite powder then once the protective coating has been burned away it re-ignites detonating rather than burning. Often an undercharge can achieve pressures far above what even an overcharge can produce when these specific conditions are met.

Another condition that can cause this is actually a bullet that's too light can cause a secondary pressure spike of up to 200% AFTER the bullet leaves the barrel, causing a detonation mentioned above as the powder experiences a secondary burn. That would easily exceed 100k psi on a 50k psi nominal load.

I wasn’t that surprised with how how far the slap rounds pierced through since slap rounds are the only rounds that I’ve seen pierce through a slab of tungsten. The slap rounds did what a 20mm cannon couldn’t do

Would've been harder to penetrate because it's denser in the middle. But most likely it will also cause more bulging at the back.
