Yes. Both water and sandbag or even just dirt are very well known to absorb bullets' energy. MythBuster and Richard Ryan shot into swimming pool with the .50cal

I guess this is why they have used sandbags for protection for centuries. Pretty effective.

Glad you are okay bud. Way tougher than most. Love your channel. Please be careful with them old or hard to source rounds. I had a 44 mag 12 inch barrel and was given old hot rounds and they almost ended me as well. Stay safe brother.

Another fantastic video Scott. Absolutely love this channel

There actually are experimental armor similar to this for combat vehicles. Boxes/pouches of ceramic pellets absorbing the energy of kinetic attacks. A normal slab or steel armor is spent after the first strike while the ceramic pellets more or less "heals" itself as new ones pour down to replace the ones blown out by the projectile. A fascinating concept that sounds like some dark voodoo before you actually see it in action.

I'd be interested in seeing these ceramic pellets mixed in with Oobleck (cornstarch and water, a non-Newtonian fluid) like Demoranch recently did in a video. I also think that the rubber in these balls is taking a lot of the initial inertia out of the bullet.

You should also keep your feet at wide, uneven and far away points from the lift. Really lean over to get a grip. Then brace your legs straight and really just heave it as hard and quick as you can. Warm ups are for wimps. Grandpapa told me this right from his wheelchair. ;)
