In this tutorial, we'll explore various creative methods for initiating a plant hanger. Whether you prefer to incorporate a ring or not, there are distinct approaches to suit your preference.
For an easy plant hanger, starting with a simple overhand knot is an excellent choice. For those seeking a more intricate design, the crown knot provides a captivating starting point.
Whichever method you opt for, the goal is to inspire and provide ideas for crafting your unique macrame plant hangers.
The tutorial covers five different ways to commence a plant hanger:
1. Gathering knot with a ring
2. Crown knot with a ring
3. Square knot with a ring
4. Square knot without a ring
5. Overhand knot without a ring
If you're intrigued by additional methods, I've explored seven more ways to initiate a plant hanger in a separate tutorial available at / bochiknot

    I'm just starting to build several - never done them but listening to Christmas music will sooth the savage beast! Have you thought about using different colors? I would think it would take a little extra time but the effect could be a wow remark. I'm 73 years old and with the winter months and Corvid 19 is in effect. I was thinking this time during the build could be Zen moments....... Is there some formula to guessestimate length? - I know it all depends how many knots etc. Like if the hanger needs to be 5' long then 15" could be used considering it would be medium knotting hanger? I enjoyed your video. PS love your hair.

    Can you somehow add a ring after the hanger is completed? I like the look of a ring as a holder, however I don’t have any at the moment but would like to start my hanger now. Thanks!

  • @Bochiknot

    @Bochiknot

    4 жыл бұрын

    You can perhaps leave about 20 cm of space at the top and make an overhand knot and start making the plant hanger below. Then once you have the ring, you can untie the overhand at the top and weave the top cord ends through the ring and make a gathering knot underneath. Hope this makes sense!

    Your work is lovely. I clicked on your video b/c it said "beginners guide ". Yet you didn't treat it like a beginner tutorial. Just suggesting that you slow down, tell us about your material you've chosen and why, ex., the ring is this big to support a plant this size, for this knot the length of cord should be this long...if we dont need to know this particular info for this tutorial link us to it in another of your videos. I gave up after a while. But I saw others had like wise comments. Please don't take them in a derogatory manner. You've a lot to offer.

    Hi Alida - Are you talking about measurements of the cord? The purpose of this tutorial is to show a few different ways to start a plant hanger. The measurements would really depend on what kind of design you are going for/what knots you are going to use after this initial part of the plant hanger. If you need tips and tricks on how to measure cord, you can refer to my 5 fundamental macrame tips and tricks video.

    I would suggest actually explaining what you are doing instead of just doing it- I just watched the first knot and I don't know what just happened, all the sudden it's just finished....especially because your hand is blocking a bunch of the view of the knot.
