How is B Complex safe if you have kidney disease whilst the individual B vitamins aren't?

thankyou for your question. There's no evidence to suggest that taking B vitamins individually is not safe for someone with kidney disease. Taking B vitamins, even individually, can be beneficial, provided that your body is specifically lacking one or more of those B vitamins, and you're not taking either of them too much. Kidney patients are often recommended B complex supplements for mainly 2 reaons. First, since all B vitamins are water soluble, so our body can't store them; and that's why we them on a daily basis. Kidney disease patients, especially the ones on dialysis are more likely to lose those vitamins and more prone to developing complications associated with their deficiency. Second, B complex supplments usually come with typically recommended dosages of all B vitamins, giving balanced amounts of B vitamins while being least likely to cause overdosage of any individual B vitamin. Hope that helps. 🙂

Is it ok to take Taurine?

Some early studies did suggest taurine's potential against kidney dysfunction, particularly for its role in balancing electrolyte levels. But there's not much research about whether it should be used for kidney health or not. So far, the available research doesn't support its use for people with kidney disease, especially those who CKD, AKI, or other advanced stages of kidney disease. So, it might be a better idea to avoid it unless recommended by your healthcare expert, preferably a nephrologist. Hope that helps!
