5 Twitch Myths That DESTROY Small Channels

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Streaming myths are getting out of hand, every day I see a tweet, or a TikTok from some stream coach who charges 50 bucks an hour to give you advice despite never growing their own audience, and the advice they’re spouting is often just outright wrong, or misleading.
I’ve been creating content as Eljay for 4 years now, and I wanted to cover five of the most common myths I see because it feels like they’re getting dangerous now, these are myths that can get you banned, stop your growth, but most importantly ruin you and your communities enjoyment.

How To Grow On Twitch?
If you want to grow your Twitch stream, it is important to be critical. Being critical isn’t a bad thing, people say, “Oh don’t be so critical of yourself!”.
But there are a lot of things you can control and improve, such as your visuals, audio, and most importantly your content that you’re creating. Watch back your VoD and be honest with yourself, is it up to scratch. Does your mic sound good? Are you engaging? Is it easy to watch and enjoy or is there something that is off-putting? Be honest, push yourself to grow, and become a better entertainer!
Because at the end of the day, the only way you are going to grow your stream is by growing yourself and being critical in a positive way.

What Bitrate And Settings Should I Use For Streaming?
The easiest way to understand bitrate is by calling what it actually is, your upload speed to the Twitch servers.
Now you’ll need a higher bitrate depending on how high quality you want your stream to be, this means 1080p 60 frames per second will need a bitrate of 6000, which roughly equals 6megabits upload speed on your end being taken up
By lowering your resolution and framerate, you can make it a lot easier to stream, for example, if you set your base canvas size to 1920x1080, but change your output to 1280x720 otherwise known as 720p you drop down to only needing a bitrate of 4500 or 4.5megabits.
If you still want 1080, you can even just lower your framerate from 60fps to 30fps and then adjust to 4500bitrate.
For more information visit this Bitrate graph: stream.twitch.tv/
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

    Hey #EarlyGang! I hope this didn't come across as harsh, I just find sometimes when it comes to streaming myths and misinformation, being blunt is the only way to cover it, otherwise you end up with people continuing to promote dodgy tips, ideas, etc that are based on "grey areas" and "Chill, it'll all work out." You're welcome to take any risks you want, but you deserve to know the full details before that. Have a lovely week! 🕘Timestamps: 0:00 Streaming Myths Are Ruining Your Content 0:28 How Twitch View Count Myths Are Ruining Your Content 1:22 Busting Twitch View Count Myths! 2:40 Why Your Twitch VoDs Aren't ACTUALLY Being Watched 3:37 How Low Energy Streamers Can Still Grow 4:38 Are Sounds And Songs Safe To Use Under 7 Seconds? 6:10 Why The Twitch VoD Track Will Get You Banned 7:42 What Safe Music Can You Use On Twitch And KZread? - Sponsored 8:30 Are You More Likely To Be Banned On Twitch? 9:50 Why Growing As A Content Creator Isn't A Mystery Anymore

    Hey I found your channel recently and just wanted to let you know I started looking into and trying to stream. I wanted to thank you so much for your content. I've recently had a few consistent viewers and a small handful of chatters and I love seeing them pop in and say hi and chat with me. We laugh and cheer when I beat bosses in rogue likes. Your videos really helped give me confidence to try working on it.

    I'm new to both streaming and multstreaming and was wondering how you monitor all the streams? I've been opening a web page for yourube, twitch and kick stream managers and watching my strams to keep an eye on everything so if one of them stops working I can fix it. I cant find anything about this so I don't know if i need to do that or not. Side note im using obs to stream and not using a restream service

    I think the "streams can't be minimized" myth comes from the fact, that PCs tend to just stop running stuff that is in the background, if they need to start managing their ressources. Thats just a thing PCs do, so you don't open dozends of windows and you pc starts going up in flames. But that although means, that if you friend Bob is "lurking" by having your stream open in a minimized tap, while he is gaming some hardcore resourceintensive stuff and watching 4k videos on the second and third monitor, the pc might just decide "Well that muted, minimized thing there... let's not actively run that." and tada, Bob and his 10 identical brothers claim they lurked your stream yesterday, but your average viewership was less than that.

    @streamscheme for the music on live streams, are you aware that ascap granted universal music license for twitch? Per the license the vods must be turned off, that may be where the myth originates

    I am not saying twitch is lying but sites do have access about whether a tab is active or not, it exists so a site can decrease performance while inactive which is very common to browser games

  • @StreamScheme

    @StreamScheme

    4 ай бұрын

    My comment in this wasn’t saying twitch couldn’t know, I see how it comes across that way, it was referring to the idea that Twitch would have to play a guessing game of who is tabbed in vs who is playing a game but still has it open on the second monitor, etc They can tell if it’s up or not, but not all the intense specifics.

    Side tip I’ve found affective is posting shorts NOT to your subscriber feed. Curious if you’ve tried this on KZread? For a small channel like mine was a night and day difference. Thanks for the great content as always!

  • @StreamScheme

    @StreamScheme

    4 ай бұрын

    There is no difference, the way KZread works is it tests to audiences, and understands how those audiences respond. The theory is by not sending it to your subs you only get active viewers. But KZread isn’t dumb, with shorts if a sub doesn’t click it, but the shorts feed audience loves it, it’s not going to hold it back from the feed. Those are two different sets of feedback that don’t impact each other. For example, if I release a video and it does terribly in browse that doesn’t mean KZread won’t let it do amazing in search if audiences who search find it and love it. In short, KZread is smart, it knows where the video or short is getting views from and will allow it to thrive. My channel was small and had no real viewership and I’d get millions of views on my shorts even with them going to the sub feed because they were good content. And after looking at your content, I don’t think your big enough or breaking through the KZread testing period enough to say that not sending to the sub feed helps. Not meant in a bad way.

    @@StreamScheme that’s fair. Only brought it up because my shorts seemed to gain reach after turning that off. Otherwise I’d be lucky to hit 1k. My main platform is Facebook. No one cares about fb but if you treat it like KZread some crazy things happen.

    speaking of music, there are also a TON of smaller creators who allow their audio to be used on stream but not in recorded content, and if you know them, you can help spread their music while also not stealing from people. (if you care for house/lofi, lofi lia and snail's house allow this!! great to know you're anti-ai content, btw, a lot of people in the twitch space are awful about it. people online get scammed by these guys every day and it's only getting worse bc people don't care.
