This model was discontinued in 2006. I got mine in 2005! Great watch, I’ve worn it in three different combat tours in Iraq, just a couple small scratches on the bezel. Sapphire crystal is as clear as the day it was made. Tough, rugged and elegant.

It was discontinued but returned and revamped with the 2500 Co-Axial calibre along with longer hands and applied Omega logo and hour markers.... Model ref 2220.80. Which went on to become Bond's watch in Casino Royale.

This watch was a staple of early 2000s. Everybody that was somebody had one. I only have great memories of it. Never could afford it. Until yesterday at 49yo. Never forgot about it. Always in my bucket list. It is a stunning watch. Clean, refined, well designed, and just hugs the wrist. I think it is better looking than the new one. Supply is seemingly drying out. The $2000 good examples have dried and now the box, papers and unscratched are $2600 running quickly into the $4ks. And, apparently, the 2531s are the ones being more scupped up.

I bought the successor of this model, the 2220.80 with the coaxial movement in 2008. My first luxury watch. At that time I also considered to buy the Speedmaster but ended up with the Seamaster because of two more reasons you didn't mention in the video. Reason no. 6 is its versatility: it matches up fine with casual attire as well as with a suit. Reason no. 7 is its durability. You do not have to be too worried about wearing it since it still is a dive watch and therefore is not too sensitive. These two reasons for me were very important, especially for my first luxury watch. This watch for me is the perfect combination of toughness and elegance and therefore it went with me wherever I went since I bought it. It was with me climbing in the mountains, I took it with me into the deep when I learnt scuba diving, it was on my wrist when I made the decision to leave my home country and move to Asia for a few years and I even wore it with a dinner jacket. I know that you are not supposed to wear a watch on such occasions but hey, it's the Bond watch.😁

I got the Brosnan Omega Seamaster 2531.80 from 1999 in pristine condition got it this year "2023" before my 27th birthday, I worked very hard to buy it, a present that I bought to myself, but I always dreamed to have this watch since I was a kid, I'm a big fan of all brosnan 007 bond movies and the video games, when I first saw it outside the Omega store with an image of Pierce at the back of the watch omg, it blew my mind back then, it just came the oportunity to buy one and I feel very happy & proud, the watch looks & feels like a million bucks, again I'm extremely proud to own one, it's just another goal archieved for me, if you're dreaming to own one, go for it. Btw awesome video man, thank you.

I have that same watch that I acquired in April of 2007, still gets a lot of wrist time and gets wet underwater too, extremely attached to it and plan on keeping it in my watch collection for as long as possible…I paid 1000.00 USD back then, a super bargain compared to today’s prices…good review and reasons!

A stunning watch with that Bond connection. My first luxury watch back in year 2000 and then as part of a growing collection I enjoyed it for over 10 years before selling it due to buying a house. I regret it to this day, as mint conditioned 2531.80s are going for £2500- 3000 in late 2021. A recently bought Black Bay 58 navy blue has satisfied my lingering nostalgia for the Omega and for a cracking quality blue dial diver, with its superb modern in house COSC movement, 70 hrs reserve and staggering lume, not to mention the sheer wearability.

I think this one is my favorite SMP. I prefer it to the newer ceramic versions. This one is thinner, has a higher beat rate ETA based movement (can be serviced by anyone and easily regulated). It's also the most comfortable.

I picked one up in really good shape last year, then after a service it looks almost new. I got a redial, new hands, and all the metals were refinished. I did leave the original insert though, it's got one or two little marks that do give it some character.

My first Omega, my first luxury watch and still my favorite. Did you know this look was introduced in Golden Eye but Pierce Bronson wore the Quartz version in that 1995 film. Omega did not produce the automatic until 1996 and Bronson wore this model in his next three movies. We LOVE this watch!!! This is absolutely the most iconic James Bond watch (and I have the Bond Planet Ocean also)

Hi, very nice review on the 2531.80. Here it is in 2003 and a week ago is was able to purchase this watch in bery nice condition. It is a 1994 model and got it from the original owner for $1600 US. It has a newer bezel but beautiful patina on markers and hands. You are correct , I am seeing them increase in price on the used market. The bracelet, dial and thin body for a mechanical auto are so good. I feel very fortunate ate for it to have fallen I to my hands.....

Recently acquired a 2541 (Quartz) from my friend's dad! I made a promise since middle high that I would buy his dad's watch (due to the fact that it was worn by Pierce Brosnan in Goldeneye) I must say although it is quartz, it does the job well and is presentable at ANY occassions!!

Hi Simon. From a technical standpoint the new SMP is an amazing watch. Omega are making some amazing watches regarding technical specs these years. I find it interesting that they are mimicking the SMP300. It really tells the story about an iconic and superior design. I prefer the older version - especially the wave dial is much better on the old than on the new. On the new it looks a bit too much like cheap plastic in my opinion. Best regards, Anders.

Very nice video! I'm really tempted to pull the trigger. I found a really nice offer for a fair price which was serviced 2018 by Omega which included polishing and substituting the crown but was since then not used. So it looks basically new. Do you think this is a point to not buy it? Thanks in advance for your expert advice!

Lovely Omega Seamaster , I prefer this model over the applied indices (to blingy) they made on the next model. But I’m in love with the beautiful 2254.50.00 in black IMHO , they all seem to be going up in value slowly, and like you say becoming hard to get in minty condition

I own a 2531.80 and a 2254.50 both. One downside to both, the clasps has no micro-adjustment. That annoys me because it is difficult to get a perfect fit. Nice condition and full-set 2531.80 and also 2254.50 are getting scarce. The day will come that they will be go upin value / price.
