I own the SMP 300 and love it. However, if the Seamaster 300 had been out at the time in its most recent design I would have bought that in a heart beat. I think both are just absolutely beautiful watches and you just can't go wrong with an Omega.

Great review, I have both the blue dial SM 300 and the white dial SMP 300. They are completely different watches and there is room in a collection for both. My SMP 300 lives on the rubber strap further differentiating them from each other. I think the SM 300 works best casual (jeans and a teeshirt) up to dressy while the SMP 300 works best casual down to a bathing suite.

I love the newer version on the 300, before I bought it, I had always hoped that they would do a true sandwich dial and remove some text from the dial, and with the recent release, I bought it almost instantly. The 300 as it is today is the best evolution of the model.

These are both great watches, I love the look of the vintage inspired 300 but the often overlooked original heritage inspired professional diver is the first Gen 42mm Planet Ocean 2500, with it's matte black dial/black bezel and white tri arabics "open 6 and 9 font" with lyre lugs, it's design harkens back to the classic Seamasters of the late 60's while still being of modern finishing and construction, it's more subdued which offers a more toolish aesthetic compared to the newer iterations, it's still my favorite of the modern Omega divers.

I actually bought the Seamaster 300 around 6 months ago, as I liked the more heritage/vintage vibe and the domed glass. BUT a few weeks back I ‘upgraded’ to the Diver 300, specifically the Sedna Gold/Steel in Black with rubber bracelet. The Seamaster 300 is nice close up but it’s very subtle, and doesn’t have a lot of wrist presence. I actually don’t like the steel bracelets for either. For the 300 it’s not in keeping with the vintage vibe and I don’t like the style of the Diver, relative say to an Oyster Bracelet. So for me, they’re relatively better with the rubber strap, coupled with the more interesting wavey ceramic dial of the Diver 300, and the presence the Sedna gold / steel combo brings makes that the winner for me personally More generally, I do also think it’s interesting to drill into the specific sub models here. The bronze Seamaster 300 is probably the nicest heritage but comes at a price (not sure it’s good value?). The Diver 300 either in green or the black steel / Sedna gold combos are the nicest in my mind. And again with the rubber strap. Omega are a great brand but I don’t feel steel bracelet design is their forte.

Great comparison video. Diver 300 has, in my opinion, the coolness factor. It’s got bling without being ostentatious and every now and then I’m tempted to laser through a steel door with it! I think you should add “coolness” factor to your categories.

As always a great episode Teddy. I am not a watch collector even though I love watches. I only have the 3861 Hesalite Speedy Moonwatch and absolutely love it. There is also a familial tie with my fathers introduction of me to the Omega brand some 40 years ago and my brothers tie in with NASA and the space program in he 80's. The watch means so much to me. The Seamaster 300 to me is just spectacular in every way and has the vintage feel that reminds me of times spent with my Dad. It will be next watch for sure. The Diver is great but too blingy for me. My third watch will be the Deville Prestige Orbis edition - another spectacular and under the radar watch with a great story that is also very personal to me. To me, not as a collector but as just someone who loves watches, the stories are more important than the specifications. The diver probably has better specifications than the 300 but I would choose the Seamaster 300

I like the Seamaster 300 a bit more, but I can't justify the increase in price. The Diver 300M has a more elaborate dial/handset and the helium escape valve - I know it doesn't do actually do anything, but it's a feature they had to engineer and include, and it really doesn't seem reasonable to me that a minor movement upgrade while downgrading on those features should somehow equate to such a big increase in price. This makes the Diver 300M seem like the much better deal in my opinion.

The 300 has a more dressier presence and a more vintage look so you can categorize it as a watch with more legacy. On the other hand the diver 300m is a beast and the ultimate sport luxury watch money can buy!!!!! I think someday I will get the 300 for its elegance, design and fínese, it simply screams class. I was never fully convinced about the diver 300 and I was always thinking of going with the aqua terra because of the jumping hour hand. It made way for my Rolex Sub Date 16610 in 2002 which I still wear often today. Being a sentimental old soul, I'd choose the SMP Diver 300, but I'm patiently waiting to see what may arrive in the next iteration of this icon. The 300 Heritage was my favourite avcording to photos I looked at previously, and I dodn’t even feel the need to try on the 300M, nut the saleswoman was encuraging - so I tried the black one on. Also the grip on the bezel just doesn't work for me on the 300M, and not a fan of the handset, whereas the broad-arrow looks great. All that said, in terms of value for spec the 300M is just more watch for less cash. So a very interesting side-by-side here. I still prefer my blue BB58 though....

I had the first generation SM300 and while I loved to look at it, it never felt like it wore quite right on my wrist. But with the updates they made to this MkII version, with the slimmer case and redesigned end lugs, I’m really interested in getting it. The Diver 300M just never captured my heart; the wave dial, the complicated bracelet, even the HEV, which doesn’t bother me much, but it’s additive; it all just makes the Diver 300M a bit too fussy looking for me. And the SM300 is a no-date watch, which I love.

Still wondering to be honest as even in the movement, you trade date function for 5 hours longer power reserve. Jumping the hour hand on the 300 is not a biggie. I like evenrything about the PO but it’s very thick. I have one and a modern smp300 and then PO is thicker and heavier enough that even with a snug bracelet it want to rotate badly. I still really like it but would love to see omega target a thinner case across the board. Rolex manages to make a watch thinner, with a lower center of gravity but it’s every bit as solid feeling. Oh my gosh aren’t too thick to wear or anything I still think they’re very good watches but personally I think they would be a little better if they could trim them down to be similar in thickness to the Rolex counterpart. Millimeter thinner Seamaster professional doesn’t sound like much but it drastically changes where of the watch

I mean all things considered, even they would have been at the same price range, Diver is better overall pick.. Both of them has METAS certified so i do not see any improvement except tiny 5 hours increase in total reserve... On the other hand having 2 barrels in the movement might increase your service cost in long term. My only feedback to diver300 would be the weight. They should somehow decrease its weight from 207 to 150-180 without playing the model alot...

I'm getting the Seamaster 300 with the blue dial. Just love the way it looks and feels. Since you mentioned how the Diver 300 is more in the league of the Tudor Black Bay, and the Seamaster 300 compares better to the Submariner, may I suggest making those comparisons?

I love both, but I do not like the escape valve on the Diver. Cannot afford either of them, though. Anyways, I like this new type of videos. Keep them coming!

I really love omega. Use to have the first gen Aqua Terra and 1861 Speedy.... my only issue is their chunkiness... honestly omega was always such an elegant brand making beautiful thin watches through history (I recently tried on a gold 35mm Constellation... just wow).. If they managed to provide cases that were around 10mm thick (e.g. New IWC Mark XX), and solid case backs (personal preference) - I would definitely be saving for an Omega again But... Happy to go for the IWC as a daily do it all watch, and a vintage Blancpain Villeret/ Zenith Elite / Omega Constellation as a dressy beauty Edit - in terms of a dive watch... nothing beats omega from the 90s / early 2000s - e.g. 2254.50 Seamaster as one example... if those bracelets were updated and the movement modernised, that would be the perfect dive watch... thin, beautiful, perfect proportions for a sports watch... I've tried on these new Seamasters... beautiful but honestly they just feel so chunky!

I've been rocking the 300m since 2019. Ideally, next is the GMT master 2, either Batgirl/Pepsi depending which presents itself first. I have half the mind to pick up the green diver 300m, but the Investor in me won't allow for another depreciating asset lol.

Nice comparison of these 2 watches. But if you want the perfect allround Seamaster you want to go with the NTTD Seamaster…only drawback could be the price but you forget all about that when you see it on your wrist.

I bought the seamaster 300 for a milestone b’day - beautiful - imo just way more classy than the diver. I don’t like the helium valve or glossy bezel of the diver. Diver is still good though

Both are excellent watches that look as if simple refinements could take them to the next level. The 300 seems a touch too retro (vintage lume, very plain dial, lollipop seconds, etc) while the diver 300 is a bit too modern/busy (elaborate dial combined with elaborate bracelet and unnecessary helium escape valve).

Oh, Teddy, you're breaking my heart about the helium valve on the SMP300. Of course, the point is not that we actually need to go saturation diving, any more than the point of owning a Ferrari is that we actually need to drive over 200mph, any more than the point of a Speedy is that we actually need to go to the moon, or the point of the Ultra Deep is that we'd actually like to strap a watch outside our submarine and head down the Mariana Trench. The point, to me anyway, is that Omega has produced a sports watch that actually has and can do those things. And you know, James Bond just might end up in a saturation diving situation unexpectedly at any time...there's a particular ethos this way to sports watches that I think is missing in this video. But beyond that, agree on all other counts completely, and excellent video as always!

I love the SMP 300 diver. It was my first luxury piece and checked all the boxes. I'm not a huge fan of the heritage model. It's not really dressy or sporty so it's just kind of in the middle. I would prefer an Aqua Terra and an SMP on rubber strap than the heritage model. I'm sure some love the heritage and that's also cool. Great vid!

I think the target group is slightly different with those watches, Diver 300 and AT are more for the people who want to buy a shiny piece, while SM300 is more for the people who want to buy a throwback kind of a watch with the upside of a modern tech

I like the Seamaster 300 more, I prefer it's bracelet and because it doesn't have a date function. Teddy please review citizen nb1060-12l, also would love to see Kevin's reaction on it's dial and the fact that it's hand finished to a certain degree at that price point.
