I’ve had that same exact tarmac since 2012, I bought the frame used off of a dentist and I still think it’s one of the coolest looking bikes. I run a 50 mm China carbon wheelset and ride with guys on 10k usd bikes all day. If you know you know ! My mechanical dura ace battery hasn’t died yet!

76 yo cyclist here. I'm addicted to cycling, every day, also addicted to the endorphine 'hit' I get after riding my Avanti full carbon road bike. Ride every day, keeps my 'hinges' loose, keeps me young-ish ! I didn't go overboard when bying my Avanti $3500 and that's with DuraAce goodies, including DuraAce rim brakes, gave the shop mechanic a hand to assemble it (I'm a retired M/mechanic) if your prepared to shop around and/roll yr sleeves up, you can still grab a bargan.

Great vid. One read why bikes are too complex and fiddly to work is so you have got to take it to a bike shop. Without the boutique bike shops the big brands would have a smaller platform on which to sell their bikes. I know about online sales but most people would like to see before buying.

I totally agree with you about bike ripoffs ...especially the ebike boom going on right now...i suspect some great deals will be available in a few years once it becomes so competitive that prices will NEED to come down if they want a market share worth talking about at all!!! not everyone has 5-6k to spend on a bike...not even 2500$. im going to build my own with a 99 schwinn i got new in 99 before they started selling out to big box stores...and with the high performance conversion kit and battery i will spend under $1400...for something that will easily out perform some $5000 bikes hands down. NO crazy low speed restrictions like a max 35km/hr top speed. i dont mean to want to hit 120kmh but i think 60-65kmh is a fun speed for at least a bit of adrenaline otherwise why electrify at all right? good video bro...keep on fighting all these ripoff companies!!!! they dont need to rip people off to stay afloat...thats BS!

Just bought a used CAAD 10 and was on the lookout for all 3 bikes due to their iconic status. 2015 is best year for CAAD 10 as you will get 11 speed. I went with the CAAD 10 as already have a nice carbon bike but not a nice aluminium bike, otherwise I'd have gladly bought the other two. All have BB30/PF30, whilst all have non Shimano cranks. If you want external cables then I'd avoid the 2018 Supersix as will be a faff to recable. Price was a factor for me and Tarmacs tended to be overpriced so went with Cannondale. Meanwhile, CAAD 10's tended to be heavily ridden so finding a good example was tough. Also, watch out for geometry differences between CAAD/Supersix and Tarmac

Harley is right again, i remember about 10 years ago when i thought a 10 thousand dollar bike was an insane amount of money for a bike and now they’re closer to 20 thousand! That’s twice as much as I paid for my Kawasaki Z650 out the door. I have a 2018 Roubaix comp with upgrades, 2015 ALLEZ Pro model and a 2014 Sirrus hybrid. Together they cost a little over 10 thousand dollars which is reasonable I guess but now it’s so ridiculous that it’s funny, people actually pay that much for something without a motor.

Durian rider you should collaborate with the Indian mech Eng on the structural impact of disc brakes on frame design. I feel that disc brakes call for forces to be transmitted through the rear triangle such that this area of the frame will be significantly heavier rather a rim brake bike where the forces are transmitted more directly to the rear tyre. Same story for the front brakes. Aero bikes ie aero tubing etc - what BS is that. The rider’s positioning on the bike will have 10x more the aero effect than aero tubes, the frontal area of the rider is so much greater than the frontal area of the frame tubing. 😮

I found one from a local guy here for 1200 bucks with Sram Force 10 speed and Mavic Ksyrium. The white bits have become quite yellowish though. Is it a good idea or should I look for something else? I did a half ironman on my caad10 with aerobars and it was fine. I averaged 21.5mph and I am old fat and slow, I did have some pretty nice wheels and tires on it though, zipp 303 with vittoria corsas

@@rinkydinkron A 53 frame for most brands will work for you . If you're into a little bit more comfort 54 should fit well too.
