More tips: try more DIY, I've tried a looooot of facemasks for oily skin but I always come back to the simple green clay mask and I add a drop of tea tree oil. Affordable and easy. Best mask ever. if a product is available in your city don't buy it online just because you're lazy to go/the shop is always crowded. I used to do that and ended up buying extra stuff I don't need just to pay a certain amount to have free shipping... how ridiculous! Just take some time and go shopping! Also use cash when paying in store, seeing the banknotes disappearing from my wallet is harder than using my credit card. And I always carry around a fabric tote bag in my handbag so I don't use the bags they give you even if they're in paper. I have a whole collection of bags from zara h&m and all that I never use after going back home. Love your videos as always! And your hair 😍😍😍

I agree with pretty much all of what you say and I’m so happy to see you talk about it! I think, as a disabled person, the straw issue is a little more nuanced but I do think anyone who *can* use alternative straws should. I do use metal straws myself but I am probably more aware of the difficulties faced by people who have tried the alternatives but simply need to use plastic straws. That being said, the people I know who do need to, will keep them and wash and reuse them, so small steps! Wonderful video!

This is so authentic and something I so badly wanted some KZread to be doing. I am glad you did this. The trash is killing the planet and the Earth deserves better. We all here are doing kind of almost nothing additional to prevent the situation from worsening. The least we could do is not adding on to it. And the most important point that you mentioned is asking yourself "Do I really need this ?" . This is the most important question that one needs to ask themselves over and over and over again. The middle class people may save upon things because they can't afford many things....but that is what has kept things better. If everyone on this earth becomes a mindless shopper, we don't know what might happen. Hence, this needs to become a mindful practice people need to start making by themselves..... for themselves..... to CHOOSE to live without certain things. Instead pay attention to little things that we never really care.... like being attentive to our breath and our thoughts throughout the day. Also , get over the feeling of "What would people think ? " . Just let them. Repeating a certain cloth multiple times is not a matter of embarrassment, but being conscious. The Earth needs our mindfulness of our decisions not only in consumerism, but also in our thoughts, our actions..... much badly than to comply to all the "stylish" tag from some people. If anything, people need to find excuses to add value to their lives in the form of new skills and such things and not make our lives all about the stuff we own. Since the last 2 years, I have been watching makeup tutorials on YT....and earlier it made me really eager to buy all the stuff I could, even though I knew I never really used even a single store -bought lip balm.....let alone makup. Still the "I should have that too " mindset made me buy tons of stuff, which has just been lying around since then untouched. Not only was it an unconscious decision but also a foolish one..... So I have decided to be conscious and aware of every single purchase I do. And reuse as many things as I can....for as long as I can before buying one. One can always rent heavy clothes if We only wish to wear it once. Also, use DIYs. The bottles and the tubes we buy in the name of "beauty products" aren't really so for the Earth.

Researching (esp. makeup .. but, everything else, too) works ! Earlier I used to buy so much stuff .. and half of it went to waste. Now .. (even if I have been able to control just maybe 1% of what I used to waste earlier) , but I am slowly trying to get what I need at the moment, than what I want 😏

I used to fill up my cart on the 30th or 31st of every month and buy things as soon as my pay came on the 1st and almost finish all my pay. I ordered from every app, Nykaa, Amazon, Myntra, Shein, Purpllee... But this month I really asked myself "Do I really need this?" I waited for a few days to order, I would remove something from my cart each day. And eventually end up with an empty cart. Which made me realize, I didn't really need any of those things. So, wait it out. And keep asking your self, DO YOU REALLY NEED THIS?

Hi Jovita , lots of love from Fiji. I loved the content for today . I'll just add a few more tips. 1. Carry your own reusable eco friendly bags when you go out shopping . 2. You can always sell clothes/ items which you don't need anymore online . You get a few bucks and also don't waste 3. Please stop using plastic wraps as covers for containers and wrapping vegetables. 4. Since some people don't like metal straws , like my mom . She says it gets too cold so instead you can use bamboo straws. 5. Switch to using bamboo tooth brushes , millions of plastic tooth brushes are polluting our oceans. I'll also like to ask you if you can maybe create more content in terms of eco- friendly makeup brushes .?

So proud of my own self for following those 5 tips for a long time. Before buying anything I ask my selfie 100 times. If a dress or shoe doesn't fit me i generally send them to my village and give it to the ones who need it.also i have stopped using straws sheet mask. You should always think twice before buying something. We actually dnt need so much of stuff.

I totally agree with you. KZreadrs and influencers like you should be talking about issues like this and it is definitely appreciable. I too follow many of these tips .I would also like to add another point, when you do online shopping pl order more than one item at a time what I mean is make a list of all the things u want and then buy them together instead of ordering them one by one to reduce packaging materials. Also carry your own water bottle (steel or glass)instead of buying onetime use plastic bottles.

Omg Jovi, it's nice of you to make a video about this. You are not only a beauty influencer but also a responsible person. Please make such more videos in the coming days. A lot of us know what we are doing , but just not able to practice ways to minimize our shopping urges. I usually follow the need -want method because that is one of the easiest ways to know your priorities. Makes you a responsible consumer. Also, I was totally able to relate to people getting offended easily these days 😂😂

Today my mom wanted something to wrap and was searching for something. When i asked her what is she looking for.. she said i wanted some kinda paper as u have told that poly bags don't decompose so yeah .. That's the kind of mindset we need as a community. Try refraining if can't get rid fully. Find alternatives... and kudos to you love.. great video ❤

We needed this video. Also for youtubers or other platform creators who end up hoarding products unconsciously because of pr and the things you willingly buy, you can gift them to other creators who are small or who are different from you if you and they are both fine with it. For eg: Lipsticks that brand send all shades of, you guys can gift it to someone with a different skintone or undertone so they can swatch them and it can be a collaborative effort + a lot of people will benefit from this. Just a thought

I’m proud to say I’ve been a minimalist since I was a teenager since my family taught us that way, I’ve always learned to save and only spend when I need to, esp on makeup/clothing...this vid is helpful to see the reasoning in understanding to minimize the waste in order to save our planet❤️

It is just a video. That you all youtubers do and forget about this.youtubers influences people to bought stuff.youtubers do try new makeup and skincare with luxurious packing and all on daily basis.you do buy clothes or get in PR to make hauls.so firstly the youtubers community have to decide that they want to make money or they really need to stop this and help their planet to survive. This is the difference between need and want.i hope your youtube community will get it. This is not a hate community Jovi.just trying put this out that the youtubers had made this change to our planet.

I have been instilling this into.my.lifestyle and the method u said abt buying online cosmetics, I already do that with multiple videos on swatches and reviews. Also mindful consumption of products is something Im adopting ever since I got into buying make-up for myself. Thanks alot for touching this topic. I hope we all can bring some change with these methods and practices. Everything starts from changing ourselves first.

Wow! Brave of you to venture into this arena Jovita! Have realized what you have spoken about in your video. In fact I live right next to a mall and used to inevitably end up buying so much stuff that I eventually used to regret buying later.So...simple...just stopped going to the mall...instead...have begun channelizing my energy into working out at the gym in my apartment...going for walks etc. In fact....one day I sat myself down & just emptied my make- up pouches of whatever lipsticks I had & swatches all of them on my hand only to realize that I had a total of 50 lipsticks of all kinds! And...no place left on my arm to swatch. That too replicas of the same shade in different brands! That was when I decided....NO MORE IMPULSIVE BUYING.I realized that I had become a shopoholic.I now practice the 5 question therapy before I give in to my impulse or urge to buy either make up or outfits.....Do I really need it? will I want to buy it after a day? How badly do I want it? Will I regret buying it later? What else can I use that amount for which is real value for my money. This has really helped me cut down on unnecessary expenditure and save my money for better long term purchases. Am sorry if my comments have bored u or seem too long but I had to say kudos to you for voicing ur opinion for it did touch a kindred chord in me. More strength & power to you girl....keep rocking as u always do....muaaaaaah😍😘🤗🤗🤗

U touched my heart Jovi. This is the main reason y I don't shop much bc I care about the planet and my pocket too. Before buying anything I think several times and more. Like do I really need this this? That's y so many things I wanted to buy but I never purchased. Things that I wanted to get I got after a year. I never anything extra with me. Once I finished one then I bought another. Thank u for making this video. This lesson is priceless. Taking this msg to masses we can really help others.
