Thank you! I will try this on my Valentine’s Day flowers!!
Excelentes consejos, Emilie. Un abrazo.
For the first time, today YT offered this video en francais as well as this English version. I hadn't realized you double posted your videos! That's great..I can practice my French, knowing I have the English backup in case I'm not following everything.

Yes, I am going to try to offer more videos in French this year. Hopefully, I can keep it up!

@@EmilieT , one extra question about the refraction technique, have you ever added glycerin to the water? I was thinking this may permit making larger, stable drops to, essentially, enlarge the lens. Usually, it's added to water to make bigger more stable bubbles for frozen bubble photos.

@@michael-mvtd Excellent question. I have once and I did not really like it because I am very clumsy and so it turned out that afterward everything was sticky! All my drops are made using just water at room temperature. But you are right that glycerin will make your water drop more stable.
Another excellent video Emilie and thanks for sharing.

Thank you, awesome, straight to the Point. Grazie Mille.
This was a great video for me Emilie, because I just started putting together some macro kit for my OM-1. I’m glad you pointed out the difficulties and how to deal with them. Very helpful info (as usual). Thank you!

Great video Emilie! How do you determine the focus differential in camera, that is how many shots and how far apart? I am just getting started with water drops. I use the EM1 mk2 and 60mm macro. Merci beaucoup.
@EmilieT

Great question. I start at 8 shots and 5 focus differential and see what i get, then I go up and down depending. Chris McGinnis actually has a great handout for focus bracketing that will help you too: www.chrismcginnis.com/assets/pdf/focus-bracketing-referencesheet-60macro.pdf
I have never tried this technique. I'm pretty sure I've seen it though, and I'm keen to try it. We have recently moved into a house that has a good number of (standard) roses. I'm thinking about how I can apply this technique to them. The tips you've given are all very useful, so thanks for taking the time to go through them. The one about the syringe is particularly valuable, because my first instinct would have been to use an eye-dropper (or pasteur pipette, from my days in a lab), and I can just see myself getting into all sorts of trouble if I went down that road.

How about using the flash on the OM-1 and focus stacking?
@EmilieT
Жыл бұрын
Yes you could. You can but for waterdrops, you will see the flash in the waterdrops and also you really want to just put the light on the background subject.
@LarryFasnacht

@@EmilieT Right, I should have been more specific, I was thinking of an off camera flash to light the daisy. Sorry.
@EmilieT
Жыл бұрын
@@LarryFasnacht Ah yes that would work. I like the light better as it is smaller and you just need a bean to put on the flower behind the drop but if you have a subject that is bigger then yes that is a great point.

Whenever I see a macro photographer use a flash, they diffuse the light. Will I have to do the same with a led torch?

Great question. I do not diffuse the light on my background subject.

If you put some glycerine in the water, the drops will get bigger and more stable.

I tried once but I did not like to deal with how sticky everything was. So all my water drop photos are with just water.
