I already think or talk in Japanese by myself at times but now I realized how much shadowing can improve my Japanese even more because it sort of forces my mouth to get used to the language. I've decided to shadow at least one video everyday from now on! Thank you so much for this video Miku sensei!! I actually tried shadowing the whole video (I'm so happy that I can understand all of it; a couple of words I understood using context clues) and it was really fun! To whoever's reading this, I hope you get all the motivation you need if you are truly passionate in learning any language!! If you're like me who suddenly wasn't able to actively study their target language, it's okay, but from now on take note of your short-term and long-term goals again and just do it!! NO MORE EXCUSES

I’ve been doing these things for some time and can attest that it really does work. The only think I have been struggling with is is “thinking in Japanese”. I think it certainly can be helpful but it’s like asking a dog to stop liking sausage…. It’s very challenging to think in a language that you only have tenuous command on…..

Don't worry about that mate, it comes naturally with a lot (and I mean a lottttt) of exposure to the language. Eventually you get to the point where something annoys you and you think「めんどくせー」instead of your native language's equivalent of it 😂

One thing that helped me to learn english and that I'm also using to learn japanese is playing video games. In Japanese specially the ones with furigana and voice acting are great because I can search the kanji meaning in the dictionary and translate it using google translate and other software tools. Then the next time I see that word or phrase I can remember and doing it repeatedly helps a lot to memorise new stuff.

I've always been good with mimicking accents and pronounciations but i do have a hard time memorizing multiple words to add into my vocabulary. I guess i just need to use them more often to get them into my head. I remember missing one day of practicing japanese 2 years ago and since then i forgot to practice, but thanks to this video i feel like learning again. I managed to learn how to write hiragana and a bit of katakana and a couple of words into my vocabulary but i don't feel the motivation to learn kanji tbh. I want to learn conversational skills and talking because that's the most fun part of language learning hopefully i'll be able to learn enough japanese to be able to hold conversations :)

I want to mimic and use more words and phrases in order to understand and remember them but I know very little, I’m not even N5 after almost a year of classes. Do you have any suggestions for learning kanji? That’s a big problem for me. Thank you for giving me the motivation and confidence to go to my Japanese written midterm exam today I have been really stressed for it, but I’ll still go and give it my best! Hopefully by next month my conversational Japanese is a bit better and my reading and writing is much better!

1:30 #1. Mimic (native speakers) 4:30 #2. Think in Japanese. 6:02 #3. Talk to yourself in Japanese. 8:58 #4. Do shadowing. 10:50 #5. Make a habit of using the word you learned.

I guess it's ok to use anime to mimic and shadow but it has to be the right one. Bullying master Takagi, Girls last tour, Nichijou, Tokyo magnitude 0.8, etc... are rly good :3 have fun!

I think what might be a real problem for this method is the "shadowing" because even if you know quite a bit of japanese it's difficult read it quickly from a subititle or close caption, that's a big problem to come around for a learner. But all the suggestion here are valuable, I see.

    ミク先生、教えてくれてありがとうございます! 僕は日本語勉強のために、よくビジュアルノベルのゲームを使っています。そういうゲームで聞いても読んでも出来ます。それは子どもに対して両親が読み会うみたい事情と思います。他の日本語の生徒にオススメです😊
