One time I had an argument with a japanese girl because when we were speaking in English, I corrected how she pronounced mexico when she said mekishiko (メキシコ) and she was upset, because I didn't know at that time that is how japanese pronounce mexico. Now she's my wife 😂

In 2:50 or thereabouts he says Nihon de hatarakitakunakatta as the reason for being in a foreign country, but the subtitles translated it as I didn't work in Japan. It loses the actual meaning (he didn't want to work in Japan) although it's later recovered during the conversation. Other than that, excellent learning material! I actually really like the sugoi kowai guy :)

it's so helpful to have full japanese and english subtitle WHILE you're speaking at the same time. Not only do I understand what you mean, but I'm also learning the kanji for each idea. Only downside is that I keep rewinding it 5 seconds back to fully understand it, so I've basically spent 5 minutes in the first minute alone 💀

I think Japanese has that kind of advantage that their language is so popular and many schools that teach Japanese language in the world are established too. So, to work overseas, being a teacher is one of the best option. I think so does the people who are English native speaker.

Very pleasant to listen to this conversation, the topic, the formal and informal talk and so on. Being from South America and having japanese background I feel I can really get the mindset and cultural differences. Even two completely opposite countries can have mutual respect and coexist perfectly, the similarities that bond us together are so much stronger than our cultural differences.

This is a fascinating conversation, in terms on their take on Japanese culture in comparison. It makes me wonder if a lot more Japanese natives think similarly to these two but feel the limitations of their society, therefore shunning the act of being more open and free thinking, or if this only happens when native Japanese travel outside of Japan. Really great video!

Also, as an unsolicited suggestion: I would love to see you doing street interviews with random people, adding embedded subtitles to those as well, to get a wider variety of people and a better sense of how the "average" native speaker talks. Again, thank you :)
