I worked in a cabinet shop for 2 years before I started my woodworking business. We only did euro style frameless cabinets so this tip will only work for this style. You can use that pin shelf jig for more than just adjustable shelves. First they are set at the exact distance from the front of the cabinet to install full overlay hinge plates and the exact distance to install drawer slides. Need 5mm x 10mm euro screws to install them. I personally use the rockler pin shelf jig because I can set the distance for the 2nd hole to where I can use a 5mm euro screw to attach the last hole of my drawer slide. Installing drawer slides this way is so much faster and repeatable. We did use pocket holes in the shop but very rarely. Only on lower cabinets that didn't have applied ends. I personally don't like them because of setup time and the pieces can move on you if you don't clamp them hard enough but there are times were I need to use them

All good info! I guess what I’ve seen the most is them used on face frames.

Hey, Brandon. Strange enough, the only ones I don't have are the slide installation jig and the shelf pin jig (I plan on getting that one). It's good to see you again. Bill

Thanks for the info! BTW I clicked the link to the Carolina website and got an error message. Not sure if it's just me or if it's the link.

Who says that using pocket holes is good or bad for any particular project? If it works and the builder wants to use them, so be it.

Just a type of woodworker snobbery, by people that think it's not traditional woodworking and it's somehow being lazy and a cheat. However, pocket hole joinery is traditional, goes back centuries and is just one of many hidden joinery methods that was even used in traditional Shaker furniture. While there's no right or wrong in woodworking, just multiple ways to do the job and you're just suppose to do it however works for you. Speaking of which, it's not just for cabinetry. Everything from table tops to trim carpentry can use pocket holes. Along with similar options like toe nailing that functions the same...
