This is the second episode in a video series titled "5 Things You Didn't Know About Your Xbox One". It has tips, tricks, feature overviews, and other interesting information about your Xbox One.
1. How to Download Games While the Xbox One is Off
Games will continue to download while the system is idling. That is when the light is white on the power brick. Remember, in the last video, we showed you how to completely power down the Xbox One by holding down the power button. When you want it to just idle but remain on, you just need to tap the Xbox One power button.
If you're using external storage to download games and having trouble with games downloading while the Xbox is off or idling, go to Settings, then Power Mode and Startup, and uncheck "When Xbox is off, turn off storage".
2. Play BluRay Discs on Your Xbox One
Most people know this, but the Xbox One has a built-in Blu-Ray player. Unfortunately, it's not ready to go out of the box for some reason and you have to navigate to the Xbox App Store and download the Xbox One Blu-Ray app to use Blu-Rays with your Xbox One
3. Help with Achievements
Microsoft includes a cool feature in the Xbox One that allows you to bring up information about any in-game achievement using the built-in Internet Explorer web browser.
Simply double-tap the Home button on your Xbox One Controller. Navigate down to the 'Snap an App' menu in the left navigation pane, and select the Achievement app. This will bring up the Achievement app on the right side of your screen. Here, you can see game-specific achievements. Click on the achievement you would like to get more information about and click on the "Search for Achievement Help" button. This will bring up Internet Explorer on your Xbox One with the search terms you need to find information about the achievement, already typed in. There are many websites, videos, and other resources available that will help you find the information you need about that specific achievement on Xbox One.
4. Refreshing the Xbox One Dashboard
Microsoft has introduced a lot of new features in the latest operating system update. One of those features is real-time updates on the Xbox One dashboard. Not always, however, does the dashboard update properly to show you real-time news for certain games, and what your Xbox Live friends are up to. There is an easy way to fix that.
If you hold down both the Left and Right triggers, press the Y Button, and then let all three buttons go at the same time, the Xbox Dashboard will refresh with the most up-to-date data. Don't worry if your screen moves - the triggers will do this automatically.
5. Remap Buttons on Your Xbox One Controller
Last but not least, if you're not happy with the default button configuration for your Xbox One controller, you can change it by going into the settings. Navigate to the Setting application, Kinect & Devices, Devices & Accessories, and then click on the Gamertag or profile that you would like to change settings for. Click on Button Mapping, and then click on Configure, and it will bring up a list of options for you to remap buttons for your Xbox One controller.
Here you can do things like: Map the A button to the B button, invert the joysticks, or swap the triggers. The Xbox One Elite Controller has more features and functionality which we will talk about in a future episode.
