How to Open an Xbox 360 Console (Without a Case Opening Tool)

In this video, XboxDIY shows you how to open your Xbox 360 console in 5 easy steps and without the option of having to use a case opening tool.

What You'll Need:
- T8 Torx Screwdriver: Xbox 360 Case Opening Tool: amzn.to/2eVwMOP
- Xbox 360 Case Opening Tool (Optional, but recommended): amzn.to/3tzPjvQ
What You'll Need To Do:
Step 1: Remove the front plate and 2 plastic mesh screens.
These can easily be removed by applying force. No tools are required. If you're having trouble removing the top plastic mesh screens, find the tabs that can be accessed via the side of the case and use a small tool, such as a screwdriver, to release them from the main body of the Xbox 360.
Step 2: Remove the Top of the Xbox 360 Case
For this, you will need to use some type of flathead screwdriver (or case-opening tool if you have one) to dislodge the connections between the top and bottom cases of the Xbox 360. You may hear popping, which is the case releasing (especially if it's never been opened before). As long as you are not applying too much force, you will be fine. The case opening tool prevents this from happening.
Step 3: Remove the 6 screws holding the bottom part of the case to the main structure of the Xbox 360
You need a T9 Torx Screwdriver ($5 at any major hardware chain) to remove these. You can try and use a regular screwdriver but you will most likely strip the screws which will make it difficult to reassemble the Xbox 360 (I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS). Set these screws aside for later when you reassemble the Xbox 360.
Step 4: Remove the Eject Button from the Disc Drive
This can easily be removed by detaching the button from the two points where it is attached to the main structure of the Xbox. Detaching this before removing the second part of the case makes it easier to remove the final part of the case. Set it aside for reassembly.
Step 5: Remove the Bottom Case
Finally, remove the bottom part of the Xbox 360. This should come off very easily if you have followed the steps above. You have now opened your Xbox 360 for cleaning and repair!

Can't for the life of me get the 7 at the back to come apart. Have managed to make it looked damaged, probably snapped off whatever actually undoes, that's about it. Am considering just snapping the plastic back completely in half and seeing if I can persevere without it. I am also considering throwing this as hard as possible onto a cement surface and then running it over in my car.

Yeah I can't get the last five latches to come apart. I tried pushing on it, I tried a small pair of scissors, I even tried tweezers. I can not get those last latches off. I hear a click, but it does nothing. All it's doing is scraping the tab in the back even more. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. I do not have the xbox 360 opening tool.

I have an old 360 which was already missing the mesh screens haha schortcuts
Guess u didn't bother making part 2 about the disc drive.
still broke the shell why do they make these 360s so fragile yet so impossible to wprk on
im glad im the only one that still uses the white 360. i gotta buy the s model cuz it sounds like its dying when it turns on 😂 and it also sounda like a jet engine

+I Hate Exosuits lmao haha. Try opening it up and cleaning it out. Might be real dusty inside. This one looked like it had been sitting in a basement for 20 years it was so bad the first time I opened it up.

Tried to follow this video and just pull on the plate underneath hard drive as instructed. Do not recommend, cracked the plate in half. Now I have to find a replacement or discount the price just to try and make some of my money back.

Got defeated by the screws of the last step Those are too damaged, the screwdriver just doesnt get a grip, idk what to do
