5 Things you Didn't Know about Revenge of the Ninja / How Cannon Films took advantage of MGM's deal

Ойын-сауық

Find out 5 Fun Facts about Revenge of the Ninja. This video was inspired by an article titled "10 Things you didn't know about Revenge of the Ninja", which was posted on the bulletproofaction website. I had noticed that Steven Lambert, the stunt coordinator on the film, had commented on that article and mentioned that not all of the facts were accurate.
In this video we'll go over the first 5 "facts" and find out whether are not they're true, plus get a ton more insight into each of them as they relate to Revenge of the Ninja.
Chapters:
02:15 - Revenge of the Ninja was the 1st action movie directed by Sam Firstenberg
02:52 - Revenge of the Ninja was Sho Kosugi’s first starring role in a US movie, but his voice was dubbed.
07:56 - First Cannon film to be distributed by MGM and how Menahem Golan utilized MGM studios.
11:48 - The opening sequence of Revenge of the Ninja was added in after principal photography in order to add in more back story, true or false?
19:10 - Sho Kosugi’s kids Kane and Shane Kosugi both appear in Revenge of the Ninja

Excellent film with a lot of mystery. The early television un-edited versions had quite a few missing and deleted scenes. Happy to say that I recorded a broadcast of this film during the mid 80’s that explains what really happens to Mafia Boss Kaifano. Lambert should know as well, it wasn’t just a piercing through his palm, it was a brutal killing. Other scenes as well, one in which emulates the opening scene of Enter the Ninja’s weapon display, however in this film after Kosugi’s mother dies, he is seen practicing weaponry… grabbing one by one off of the wall (to revenge music) but then calms down when he is finished. It isn’t until he “snaps” the seal later on in the movie where he returns to his Ninja ways. Like I said, lots of mystery with this film, the American and British edits of this film leave the viewers confused with some scenes….

Sho Kosugi seemed like he was always a cult classic underground type star, not everyone knew about him. I always hoped back in the early 90's that he would've been in a movie with Steven Seagal. Of course there was his several Ninja films, There was actually this campy sort of movie called Aloha Summer I was watching and I saw Sho Kosugi was in that as well, he played this Japanese guy's strict father and they had a cool little Kendo Stick match. Anyway, I remember little things like that and Sho was an awesome villain at the end of Blind Fury of course. Sho Kosugi definitely is skilled with a Katana. Legendary Martial Artist. 🙏🥋

I have always wanted to see Revenge of The Ninja ... Have already seen the first one several times... But last time I checked, Revenge Of The Ninja is now a collectors item in my country! Hard to find (but I will). I have seen that final fight on youtube many times, its fantastic! Dynamic, creative ... But also the pure blue sky backdrop whilst they fight on the roof of that building ... Its all greatly composed. When I found out from previous videos that Lambert was the bad ninja in that scene, I knew he was the real deal and should be listened to. One of my favorite fights in the great history of American martial arts films.

Great Video with great facts of RotN with the great Steven Lambert. But some things from what i heared/read or saw by myself... i need to say i watched the movie 1000 times. The fights between Sho and the Ninja were mostly with Mr. Alan Amiel like they did in other Movies like Pray for Death and Ninja 3 The Domination . SL was the man for the Stunts and AA for the fights. As i read also that Kosugi-sensei fought bis Student Eddie Tse in the End fight mostly . The fact that Kosugi-sensei doubled a lot of other Ninjas in his movies I ckearly visible cause of his movements and his height like in the rooftop scene you can see it is Kosugi-sensei himself chasing his Son . He did also the Scene with Hatcher in the end and the scene where he was to opened the Door when he got caught by one of Caifanos Guys . Big Credit for Mr. SL no doubt i am very happy he was part of this Ninja Era .

What's up with the video framerate at the beginning of this video, where Haley Joel Osment speaks to the camera? It's so choppy. Once he speaks with Steven Lambert, the zoom video framerate is completely fine.

Steven Lambert is a treasure! Cannon was the 80s, simple as that. Their Ninja movies were and are the best! In fact, I just uploaded a tribute video to the American Ninja series on my channel and I'd be honored if you'd check it out if you like that kind of stuff.

About that opening scene in Revenge. Is it possible that scene was filmed last but not a reshoot? It's not uncommon for films to be shot out of order during principal photography. As a side note: I'm surprised Lambert uses the tall tale of Steven Spielberg trespassing on Universal studios in his teen years as a comparison to Golan-Globus. Spielberg was exaggerating his story into an urban legend.
