Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The #jeepwj is a great platform to build and it’s relatively cheap to buy and build into a capable Jeep that can keep up with wrangler or even do better than them! There are a few things YOU SHOULD KNOW before building one though, today we will go over what to keep in mind while building your #grandcherokee

My 2000 jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 currently has 294k miles on it and still running great.
I didn't know it did not have a chassis! Very important information you've shared 👍 Thank you 🙂
I love the 4.0 with a manual.
Hey I'm new here just found you guys. I've owned jeeps for years. Just bought my 2nd grand Cherokee today and have had tons of others.I'd love to help you guys out as much as I can. I think you guys making new products is awesome. If there's anything I can help you with please let me know. Al
i have one and im gonna go crazy with mine
The paint on the WJ, factory paint, is so durable. I wish I didn't crunch my front end and have to use the jive china parts. Nice to know the rear diff I grenaded isn't worth diddly. Unfortunately I sprung for a electric locker on the 35. Live and lern
Just got a 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0l I want to build it up but I’ve never been much of mechanic. Figured it’d be good one to start out on with all the parts available and info out there. Definitely got my subscription. 🤙
Tons are nice but overkill for many which sucks because you are correct on the axles, they are junk. I have the 44HD which is ok but there are no traction aids for it besides a lunchbox or a full ARB and then it's still a aluminum cased axle. Late 70's Ford pickups came with axles very close to the width of the WJ, they are 65" WMS where a WJ is 63.5". An F-100 came with a high pinion 44 and a 9" rear, both are worlds better than stock and are still pretty easy to find.

Yeah those are good options as well.
These one tons you refer to, off what vehicle do they come from? Also am i understanding you right in that all these parts the diffs the prop and drive etc are just straight swop outs?
I know so many people that run 37s on their d35 rear and d30 front and the wheel pretty hard. Only constant issue on d30s is the axle shaft are weak as hell
I'm trying to put p255/70r18 on my wj. What do I need to do to make them fit
Nice to see a fresh perspective on this topic from a knowledgeable source.
Nice all in one video. What sort of mpg penalty from larger tires can someone expect?
@Mackin_int

Your looking at about 12mpg with 31” tires or bigger and a 4” lift
I have a 04 jeep grand Cherokee 2wheel drive … is it possible to install a 4 wheeldrive lift kit 4” rough country on it ? Do they make 2wheel drive kits for this year ?
JK rear 44 is the best swap for the rear and no need for a front upgrade usually if running 35's or better 33's.

I’d say the jk rubicon 44 is the best budget swap but nothing really beats some 1tons
Is there any way you could please make a guide or tips and tricks for cutting fenders on WJs?
@ROCKY_TV

Honestly there’s not many tricks just have to measure and take your time cutting
What's up bro. Hey, what do you think about an oil catch can on the 4ltr?

Im not sure ive never ran one however ill be installing one on my jku soon
WJ is awesome, I have an overland now. ZJ is awesome-er, I had one before this. 😊
Please do a video of both axle swaps, One tons and jk's 😭🙏

Love the WJ blue colour, mine is Silver, what Make & Size are youre Rims There Awsome !!! Also you running 6.5 Clayton Long Arm ?

The rims are just some cheap pro comp wheels idk exact the model. This Jeeps on a 6.5” IRO rock Link Pro kit
My 02 grand 8 cyl has 260k and still running like brand new.
I just bought a stock 2000 wj limited and I love it so far. I plan on putting a 2 inch lift and some beefier AT tires on there. Probably won’t be doing too much crawling with it but maybe some minor mudding/off-roading. Do you think an axle and driveshaft upgrade is necessary? Def gonna be throwing some frame stiffeners on as well

If you’re just going on a 2” lift and like 32s stock axles will probably be okay. Upgraded driveshafts I’d recommend though if you don’t have a double cardan
@RoyalBaboon247

Just get front adjustable upper control arms and move the Axel towards the back slightly with them. It's a cheaper alternative. Change both front and rear sway bar links for the lift. Defo new adjustable pan rod bar, track bar if UK or aus. Double Cardan is worth buying but not needed on a 2inch lift. 3 inch 100%.
We had a wj with over 250000 miles before the transmission went out on it
I hear some negative things about the Dana 35 rear differential. I have been stuck in some the worst weather on mountain tops, in creeks and in fields. The Selec Trac drive train has ALWAYS let me get out of even the worst muck puddles, snow, ice, and everything else. I really think that people give the Dana 35 a bad name out of ignorance rather than knowledge. I have a 2004 Rocky Mountain Grand Cherokee with 320k miles, the bullet proof 4.0 inline six and a 4 inch lift kit. Never a problem getting of even the worst situations.

It usually fails due to tires that are too big and overly aggressive driving. Definitely won't hop tour way up a rock face lol
I'm actually looking at buying my first WJ. I's a 4.0 with about 180kmi and a supposed camshaft issue. That said, I get it, the 4.0 is supposed to be this anvil of an engine. However, all the videos I've seen of blown head gaskets, cracked heads (ie 2000 XJ...like my latest acquisition), and cracked pistons...I'm really staring to think the Pentistar 3.6 is a far superior engine. That comment likely belongs in /r/unpupluarOpinion, but those are my observations.

They definitely have their issues as well I agree with that I do think a lot comes down to if you get lucky and buy one that has been well maintained or not. Tbh I have the 3.8 in my JKU which everyone said would fail quick and is trash and while yes it’s underpowered it’s at 185k and still going strong so I guess it’s also kinda luck haha
Would I be OK running ~35s occasionally on strengthened (trusses, gussets, sleeves) OEM axles on my 4.7 HO? That is Dana 30 front and Dana 44A back? Planning also on ditching Varilocks and putting OxLockers Not my daily driver at all, not even close. Just occasional offroad Also, what are your thoughts on 242HD T-case? Or any other non-standard WJ transfer case? Thanks!

You’ll be fine but it can still break. Just depends on how you drive it. I wheeled my JKU on 37s with the Dana 30/44 combo and didn’t break but broke my Currie 60 after 4 wheeling trips. All depends on how you drive. For tcases idk a ton about them however in my WJ I’ll be doing an atlas or dstrac tcase not a normal WJ tcase
@Jboost412

Even without the bracing they’re fine on 33s - 35s it’s absolutely all in how you drive it….as far as the transfer case the amc 231 from the older Jeeps or the np231 is fine as well….more importantly then that is eliminating the front drive shaft allot of the WJ’s have for a DC front shaft
Dana 30 is what comes for the front axle for this?

Pretty new to all of this. My friend who builds jeeps says the 02-04 axels on the WJ is better than the 99-01. Is that true or is all the same. Thanks
@ROCKY_TV
2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I’ve never heard that, the 44a rear axle is better than the 35 but that’s based on model not year I think. Unfortunately all axle options for a wj aren’t really good though lol
Now you tell me.

😂😂
Good video but mines a 1999 with a dead engine now 4.7 V8. Only 160K original miles. The engine chewed itself up on the inside. It burned oil before it died. I had planned on keeping it to fix up but would like to sell it to an interested buyer. I have a 1.5 inch lift kit, HD Tie Rod Kit and HD Control Arms to go with it, new in the boxes. It also has a Monster Transmission only 1.5 years old.
Jeeps are great, but if you don't have golf, you have nothing 😅😅😅
Con… battery dies quickly haha
Bro....... why so repetitive
Well a nother downside of the 1 tons some states don't alow alot of tire sticking out that's the reason I can't do it🥲

Yeah you’re right. Unfortunately Maryland doesn’t allow it either but I don’t drive this Jeep often it would be to go offroading or at events only so I’m going to take my chances and see what happens
