    Glad you enjoyed it! It's kind of funny how some of the things we thought we'd be worried about at the beginning turned out to be no big deal. And other things we had no clue about would be the troublemakers!

    Hi Amy, great video! It’s nice to get thoughts from both you and David. It’s funny to hear you say that, in the beginning, you were terrified of docking as I assumed you were perfect at everything right from the start. 😀 Maybe there is hope for me yet. I would definitely echo your thought on living a healthy lifestyle on the boat. I am finding that much more challenging than I had thought it would be. Congratulations on your new book; looking forward to reading it. By the way, I really like your pillows. They look great in the videos.

    Once you kick Mike out of the helm, I'm sure you'll be a natural! 😁 And it definitely is tricky to live a healthy lifestyle on the boat, but it is possible. It just takes way more self discipline that we needed on land.

    Thanks! Did you figure out exercises do do on the boat--for example use of bands or yoga or ?? What really works?

  • @OutChasingStars

    We try to do 3 days of weights and 3 days of cardio each week. For weights, we have a TRX that fits around our mast (this is where having a cat with a flat foredeck is really handy!) but also use bands and do body weight exercises (squats, lunges, tricep dips etc). Cardio days can really vary. We enjoy getting out for walks/hikes whenever we can. We've done long snorkel excursions, treading water while wearing a weight belt or even swimming laps around SH. But if the day is really crappy out and we want to stay on the boat we have an app that will give guided exercise suggestions. You have to get creative!

    Here is a question David for sure can't answer. What are some of the ways a redhead has to protect their skin in sunny latitudes. Well I'm sure he could get close, but redheads are particularly vulnerable to the sun...at least until they turn into a giant freckle! I am speaking from personal experience here. Also not that you haven't mentioned it before!

    Sunscreen! So much sunscreen! 😆 Also, I wear lots of long sleeve shirts and yoga pants to prevent sun exposure. Having so many areas with shade on SH is also helpful so I can stay out of the sun when we're on the boat during the day.

    Great stuff Amy! I am surprised French was more common than Spanish, but maybe that is due to your route? By the way David, Amy's video only took 8 minutes while yours took 12. :)

  • @OutChasingStars

    @OutChasingStars

    Definitely a result of the route we took. If you're going to be in the Western Caribbean/Mexico, Spanish is the way to go. And are we really surprised that Amy is better at communicating her ideas quickly?? 😉

    Amy, thank you for sharing. Your insights were great. You mentioned you have generous cold storage on board. Any chance you could share how much - cubic inches/feet or is it a metric dimension since it is a French boat? Anyway, thanks again - really appreciated it.

  • @OutChasingStars

    @OutChasingStars

    Sure! We have an Isotherm Drawer 190 Fridge (190 liters or 6.7 cubic feet) + an Isotherm CR90 Freezer (90 liters or 3.17 cubic feet). These are our primary cold storage on the boat and we keep them on all the time. We also have a Vitrifrigo C75LX cockpit fridge (75 liters or 2.65 cubic feet) which is primarily a fridge but has a top shelf for a freezer as well. However, we very rarely turn this on as we don't need the extra storage and don't want to use the extra power. It gets used when we have a large number of guests onboard and want to keep drinks cold!

    Love to Hear your Food Storage Secrets ? do you have a Vacuum Sealer ?

  • @OutChasingStars

    @OutChasingStars

    Yes! We have a vacuum sealer and use it quite a lot. Trying to maximize space is a big issue so we make sure to remove almost all of our meats from the store packaging in order to seal it down to a more manageable size.
