    Thanks for the insightful tips. I needed to improve my GMAT studying strategy and didn't know how to do it. I kept feeling overwhelmed. By turning to different resources frequently, I was worried that I wasn't getting it right (every resource had a different opinion and strategy). This video was quite helpful in getting me centered. I also feel more confident and at peace with sticking to your approach. Now it's time to implement and test these tips. Thanks again!

Also, I have achieved so many of my goals since then! :)

    Great video, Brett. Loved the last tip about being grateful and Be --> Do --> Have. I appreciate this re-framing for the GMAT. I'm glad it helped! And you're right. I remind my students all the time that the sections are called "Quantitative REASONING" and "Verbal REASONING." While math and verbal competency are important for scoring well on the GMAT, so is maintaining clarity of thought and coming at problems from non-traditional ways in some cases to "reason" your way to right answers. Good luck and let me know how else I can help!

    Good question. If the code has already been used and is tied to the previous owner's e-mail address with Wiley, then it won't work for you to attach the same code to your own Wiley account. But if the previous owner never used it, then you should be good to go. Depending on who you're buying the used book from, you may want to ask them to un-register from Wiley to free up the code. Hopefully that will work for you. This is the first time I've had someone ask me this, though, so please let me know what you ultimately determine!

  • @dominatethegmat

    @dominatethegmat

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! Which GMAT book are you talking about? The GMAT Official Guide is NOT good for actually learning content and strategies. It's best as a source of practice problems. Frankly, I haven't found any books that are sufficient as stand-alone instruction, at least not for the methodologies and strategies I teach that my students have found most helpful. Most books have some content review, but again, you'll probably need a course or tutoring of some sort if you really want to learn how to dominate the GMAT. It's rare to score 700+ on the GMAT by studying alone from a book, in my experience.

    What is your "why" for wanting to go back to business school in the first place? If that's strong enough, it should drive you to do what's necessary to figure out the GMAT piece of things. As I've said in some of my other videos, the GMAT is a beatable test. The math can be learned -- I can teach it to you in a way that you'll be able to understand! But the desire to put in the necessary work has to come from your "why." Connect with that, and you should have the right perspective to keep pressing forward. You've got this! I'm here to help.

You'll get that in our Full GMAT Verbal Course: www.dominatethegmat.com/gmat-verbal-course/. • @dominatethegmat

    @dominatethegmat

    4 жыл бұрын

    Don't think about it as once-a-week, then. Start by thinking about it as THIS week. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Don't think about the whole elephant. Just take that first bite. Yes, it can be intimidating to take that first practice test, especially when you don't feel ready. But it's better to know where you stand and to start honing your time management than to keep your head buried in the sand. And here's the thing: Almost nobody does well on their first practice test! So go into it knowing that. If your score isn't great, so what? It's just practice. You can improve from there. It'll be fun to look back and see how far you've come as your subsequent practice test scores go up!

    Yes. The questions get progressively harder as the question numbers get higher, and many of the higher-numbered questions in each chapter are 650+. That said, the GMAC did release a separate book of "Advanced Questions" containing 150 hard verbal questions and 150 hard quantitative questions from past exams. But it's definitely possible to score 700+ with just the "main" OG. And as I remind my students, make sure you can walk before you try to run!
