IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please ALWAYS use resin with proper precautions including wearing proper PPEs (glove, mask, respirator etc) AND working in a well ventilated space. I recommend getting a hold of the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) info that every resin company has available to the public (by law). This has all the info about the resin you are using including the precautions you need to take and first aid care. Watch my resin safety video for more info: • RESIN SAFETY | Importa...

-Faux Rizzle Noveau coating resin: artresinfauxrizzle.com
-UV-LED resin:www.emiialchemii.com/product/...
Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin to cast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

Just to make it clear, its best to avoid molds with sharp angles but nowadays, it’s getting harder to find cute molds without them. So just keep in mind the latex may be the best option to make them work!

@@AmyMade I had to come back to tell you what happened! I've had to re-dome 3 resin shakers and it's a little bit hard to find liquid latex where I live, so I improvised with a latex I used to use in watercolor paint (I have no ideia how it's called in english). I was so afraid to ruin more shakers but I had to try. I worked out perfectly!!! I can't believe it!! Only one of the three shakers has spilled, what also helped was to let my resin to rest for 10-15min before applying (I use low density resin). I soooo grateful for this video, you have no ideia how many times I've ruined my resin shakers, I was really struggling with it 😅😅 but now I won't anymore because of you!! thank you!! 💜

This is a great video. I do have a question though. I've seen so many people who make letter keychains with the alphabet molds and a lot of the letters have sharp corners so how are they getting them domed without overspill or the resin pulling away from the sharp corners? In the videos I've watched their letters look perfectly domed and I've seen some people use UV Resin but I've seen a great many who use 2 part resin that has to sit and cure.

  • @AmyMade

@@AmyMade Thanks so much for such a fast reply Amy. I really appreciate it. For myself, I have not had very good luck with some of the letter. The W, M, N. They all have really shar points and it seems like the resin will not go to the edges and stay there. If you try to add more it will just spill over somewhere else. Not even sure what resin would be the best option. I have 2 different alphabet molds, same problem. One is the standard reverse, or backward facing letters and the other one is also backward facing but the letters are taller and have the little silicone post that leaves the hole for your jump ring.

Hi, I tried the dome technique for one of my art piece and one of the corner the resin did not go to the edge. How to avoid that? Any suggestions? Entire piece looks good except one side the resin did not flow all the way to the edge leave small gap between edge and the remaining part.

You can try adding a new layer of resin over it. Sometimes adding not enough resin can cause the resin to pull away from the corners too

Hi! I just have a small question about UV resin. I've noticed recently that anytime I use it, it is still tacky after I cure it. Is there a reason for this? I use an led light and a lamp and it does it for both no matter how long I leave the pieces in there for. It's for both my older bottle, that didn't have issue when I bought it and my new bottle, that is the same brand as the other. Any advice would be much appreciated 🤗🤗

It could be that your resin is old and has oxidized to the point where it no longer cures properly. This happens with cheap uv resins.

There’s an easy fix for that, cure your piece normally under light for whatever amount of time you normally cure, and then grab a clear container, fill it with water and submerge your piece and cure it under water with uv light for 3-4 minutes. It will be hard, shiny and stickiness completely gone :D

@@herahair8916 Have you tried this? Its unusual bc resins hate water and won't cure properly if theres too much moisture. You should do a video to show how this works bc UV resins being tacky after curing is a big problem for alot of ppl. I usually cure mine n if its still tacky after a long curing process then i will take it outside an let it sit in the sun for awhile n it really helps. I have a 36w lamp so resin shouldn't be tacky

@@LolaClark86 It’s an essential part of my UV routine now. I think the difference is that it’s not regular epoxy but UV one. I will definitely put up a video, I will let you know when I do :D

Hi, I hope you are still doing this as I see that this video is a couple years old. I tried using the link for the faux Rizzle nouveau and it does not work. I Googled it and it is no longer using the name faux Rizzle as its website. It's under a new name called countertop epoxy. There is something at the top of that web page that says faux Rizzle but when you click on it it only takes you to some epoxies that are for countertops and another one that is called Black Label epoxy. Do you know if they have stopped making the nouveau? If so, do you have a new product that you are using and like? Thank you

Yes I’m aware of their brand change. I didnt change it here because I didn’t think about it. Totally forgot about this video tbh lol. The black label resin is the noveau. I personally don’t care for that resin anymore as it yellows rather quickly. I haven’t worked with 2 part resin in a while but JDiction and Resin Rocker resin have great non yellowing peoperty.
