IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please ALWAYS use resin with proper precautions including wearing proper PPEs (glove, mask, respirator etc) AND working in a well ventilated space. I recommend getting a hold of the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) info that every resin company has available to the public (by law). This has all the info about the resin you are using including the precautions you need to take and first aid care. Watch my resin safety video for more info: • RESIN SAFETY | Importa...

Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin to cast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.

Just to make it clear, its best to avoid molds with sharp angles but nowadays, it’s getting harder to find cute molds without them. So just keep in mind the latex may be the best option to make them work!
Only just found your channel and I love that your intro is getting safety gear! Thank you! Resin is so dangerous when not using safety gear! So many KZreadrs won't even use a mask or gloves and will just say oh don't do what I do. That's not good enough!
This is how an experienced professional speak when they know what they are doing. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
I find liquid latex more of a precaution for mistakes especially for trickier pieces. Apart from that i thought everything else you mentioned was extremely helpful! 😊

Thank you, very good advice. I am new to this and tried to use UV resin to dome some small pieces, one was a shaker and the resin started to set every time, even though I was indoors and did not have the UV lamp on.
Great tips from a pro!! I love your voice inflection.
I'm about to start experimenting with UV doming resin. I had no idea that it needed to rest before curing. It also never occurred to me to doming resting for coasters, I can't wait to experiment with that!

I don’t know if you have a video out over which resin you’re using when but that would be really helpful just to know which one is necessarily used for casting and which one is used for dome’n and the period of time you know you’ve waited between using both if any

i only ever use liquid latex if i am doing like sharp pieces like i can get a full dome on those but i put it on like the center of the heart or if its got those weird spots where resin can drip in just in case round things i usually never do latex

You can dome more than flat pieces. You just have to tape it off or use liquid latex around it.
Thank you for this video!! I thought I was putting too much resin, but now I realize the dripping was only happening in bear and heart shaped designs. I guess I'll try the latex tip... I was trying to use baby oil and vaseline to prevent the resin from sticking but it wasn't working out 😂😂😂

@@AmyMade I had to come back to tell you what happened! I've had to re-dome 3 resin shakers and it's a little bit hard to find liquid latex where I live, so I improvised with a latex I used to use in watercolor paint (I have no ideia how it's called in english). I was so afraid to ruin more shakers but I had to try. I worked out perfectly!!! I can't believe it!! Only one of the three shakers has spilled, what also helped was to let my resin to rest for 10-15min before applying (I use low density resin). I soooo grateful for this video, you have no ideia how many times I've ruined my resin shakers, I was really struggling with it 😅😅 but now I won't anymore because of you!! thank you!! 💜

Can any one help me , please 🙏 I am new to resin art and i was doming my key chain letters , with UV resin and curing for more than hour or two , but for some reason they was still sticky to touch , to the point I was leaving finger prints which wouldn't disappear 😢 How long I should cure doming layer ? What do I do wrong ? Is it type of UV resin that's not suitable for doming ? Thanks in advance for help❤ Ps. Sorry for any mistakes in english , as it’s not my mother language
After viewing your videos, I started playing with UV resin! Your videos are so helpful and I love the little cute stuffs you made!🥰🥰 One problem I’m facing now is that my surface is not perfect. It always have the little bubbles or bumpy texture (like mistake 4.) 😢 On the mistake 4, do you suggest let it rest for 5-10 minutes before using the UV light? I tried to use toothpicks, heat gun, and lighter to remove the little bubbles, but still can’t get a perfect surface. What should I do to make it right? Thank you!! 🙏🙏

@@AmyMade Thank you Amy!! It does work!! One more question, after I finished one side and flipped to do the other side, the resin would drop to the bottom side and messed up the side that’s finished. 😂 Is there any way to avoid resin dropping to the bottom side? I’ve done a couple of them like that... Do you know how to fix the side that’s been messed up with resin?🤷♀️
This is a great video. I do have a question though. I've seen so many people who make letter keychains with the alphabet molds and a lot of the letters have sharp corners so how are they getting them domed without overspill or the resin pulling away from the sharp corners? In the videos I've watched their letters look perfectly domed and I've seen some people use UV Resin but I've seen a great many who use 2 part resin that has to sit and cure.
@AmyMade

Thank you. By sharp corner, I mean less than 45 degrees. I should’ve said acute angles instead. Even those alphabet molds…the very end of the points are still slightly rounded.

@@AmyMade Thanks so much for such a fast reply Amy. I really appreciate it. For myself, I have not had very good luck with some of the letter. The W, M, N. They all have really shar points and it seems like the resin will not go to the edges and stay there. If you try to add more it will just spill over somewhere else. Not even sure what resin would be the best option. I have 2 different alphabet molds, same problem. One is the standard reverse, or backward facing letters and the other one is also backward facing but the letters are taller and have the little silicone post that leaves the hole for your jump ring.

Is your resin thick or thin? Thicker resin work much better for doming.

Hi there, do I have to wait for resin to fully cure before I can dome it? Or can I dome it when it has become solid? Say 12 hours down for a 24 hour curing resin
@AmyMade

You can dome it during the soft cure stage. However keep in mind whatever you use under the piece (doming mat, liners etc) may leave an imprint of the texture of the surface onto the resin.
Thank you so much ☺️ I just want to ask if I can dome 2 part resin with uv resin ?

Hi! I just have a small question about UV resin. I've noticed recently that anytime I use it, it is still tacky after I cure it. Is there a reason for this? I use an led light and a lamp and it does it for both no matter how long I leave the pieces in there for. It's for both my older bottle, that didn't have issue when I bought it and my new bottle, that is the same brand as the other. Any advice would be much appreciated 🤗🤗

It could be that your resin is old and has oxidized to the point where it no longer cures properly. This happens with cheap uv resins.
@herahair8916
3 жыл бұрын
There’s an easy fix for that, cure your piece normally under light for whatever amount of time you normally cure, and then grab a clear container, fill it with water and submerge your piece and cure it under water with uv light for 3-4 minutes. It will be hard, shiny and stickiness completely gone :D

@@herahair8916 Have you tried this? Its unusual bc resins hate water and won't cure properly if theres too much moisture. You should do a video to show how this works bc UV resins being tacky after curing is a big problem for alot of ppl. I usually cure mine n if its still tacky after a long curing process then i will take it outside an let it sit in the sun for awhile n it really helps. I have a 36w lamp so resin shouldn't be tacky

I Googled it and it is no longer using the name faux Rizzle as its website. It's under a new name called countertop epoxy. There is something at the top of that web page that says faux Rizzle but when you click on it it only takes you to some epoxies that are for countertops and another one that is called Black Label epoxy. Do you know if they have stopped making the nouveau? If so, do you have a new product that you are using and like? Thank you
