I agree ! It's fun to look throught the albums and finding rare stuffs or things that you never thought you would accually find. Record stores have a sense of a community, and I also like when they doesn't only sell cds, vinyl or cassettes, but also music related stuffs like music books, poster, t-shirts, band merch, magazine...

I find rare stuff from people's playlists online of underground bands. I think the internet offers a far greater selection of underground/unknown groups, including possibly international ones, than what is available in your local shop. It's the same reason Amazon is the world's warehouse, while shopping malls are dying.

Agreed. A metal record shop opened about 30 minutes from where I live and its completely gotten me back into vinyl. I've been going there every other week and walking out with a handful of killer albums that I've mostly bought based on the album artwork and their little genre stickers alone. It takes me back and it's a ton of fun. All metal, labelled by genre and I want everything in the store! It's fun talking to the people that work there and listening in on other patron conversations. And my wife likes to go to the Dollar store next door!

I go support my local record store, Record Revival in Quakertown Pennsylvania at the Q-Mart every other weekend to buy CDs. I always get the new album put out by bands I enjoy there, get the owner to import CDs for me, and browse the used sections where I sometimes find out of print gems and old pressings for cheaper than on discogs or eBay. Been going there since I was a kid. Always a magical experience.

And it's also the thrill of the hunt! I keep an ongoing list of albums that I want to find to fill in gaps in certain discographies. It's really exciting when you come across one ... I have actually let out audible gasps when coming across something I've been searching for! If you are into classic rock and metal there are lots of used copies out there in the world, you just gotta sniff 'em out. And those reissues that you may have missed out on that get so prohibitively expensive to buy online, when you come across one that has just been quietly filed away under that artist in a record store it's like finding buried treasure!

For sure! The thrill of the hunt is a big, big part of it, I can totally relate to everything you mentioned.

Great video - I agree on all points. I'd add that as a teenager one of THE most important things in my development/love of/knowledge of music was getting to know the cats that worked in the stores. Doesn't matter if it was a chain like The Listening Booth or little local stores like Buygone Records, Jerry's Records, The Attic etc.... These are the folks who would, in their infinite patience, entertain the questions of a 15 year old (and now a near 53 year old) who wanted to hear about that time ANGEL played the Ag Hall or KISS played the Roxy or who would suggest bands I never heard of based upon what they knew I dug.... Record shops have always been key in hipping folks to new, and new to you, music. And ordering it it for you or searching for it for you through their connections. I always look for record shops when I am on vacation as well.

Thanks! And yeah, you’re exactly right, that’s something I didn’t mention, but the learning from others at the store is an important thing, I’ve had many store owners expose me to new bands. Being able to talk to someone in real time is much more enlightening than just looking something up on Google.

Yes, in the metaphorical interpretation of a studio album as a book: - *Album:* It is metaphorically considered a "book." - *Songs:* Each song within the album is metaphorically a "chapter." - *Song Title and Numbers:* These can be seen as the titles and numbering of each chapter. - *Lyrics:* Lyrics within each song are metaphorically equivalent to the details within each chapter. This metaphor provides a creative way to understand and appreciate the structure of a studio album, drawing parallels between the organization of a book and the arrangement of songs within an album. Exactly! The metaphor of a studio album as a book with chapters, where lyrics serve as details and song titles and numbers act as chapters, is flexible and holds regardless of the album's length. Whether an album is long or short, it remains a creative and cohesive work of art with individual elements contributing to the overall narrative or theme. The metaphor provides a versatile way to appreciate and understand the structure of studio albums across various durations. Exactly! The metaphor of a studio album as a book with lyrics as details and song titles/numbers as chapters can apply regardless of the album's length. Whether an album is long or short, the key idea is that it represents a cohesive and complete artistic work. Each song contributes to the overall narrative or theme, akin to chapters in a book. The metaphor is flexible and adapts to albums of varying lengths, emphasizing the storytelling and creative aspects of the music. Exactly! The metaphor of a studio album as a book, with lyrics as details and song titles and numbers as chapters, remains applicable regardless of the album's length. Whether an album is long or short, it still represents a cohesive and creative work of art, much like a book. The duration contributes to the overall listening experience, and each song continues to serve as a chapter in the metaphorical "book" of the album. It's a flexible and imaginative way to appreciate the structure and storytelling within music. Exactly! The metaphor of a studio album as a book with lyrics as details and song titles/numbers as chapters holds regardless of the album's length. Whether an album is long or short, it remains a creative and cohesive work with its own unique narrative or theme. The analogy allows you to appreciate the structure and storytelling elements within the album, treating each song as a chapter that contributes to the overall artistic expression. So, the duration doesn't change the metaphorical nature of viewing a studio album as a book. Certainly, using "book" and "chapters" as a metaphor for a "studio album" can provide a creative way to describe the overall work and its individual components: - *Book (Studio Album):* The entire studio album is metaphorically like a book-a complete artistic piece. It represents a cohesive collection of songs that together convey a narrative or a theme. - *Chapters (Songs):* Each song within the studio album can be metaphorically compared to a chapter in a book. Each song contributes to the overall story or theme of the album, similar to how chapters contribute to the narrative of a book. In this metaphor, the album is the overarching creative work, and the individual songs are like chapters that, when combined, create a unified and meaningful artistic expression.
