Definitely try. Trying to find softer games (can be tough if there are limited choices or times you can play). Keeping my cool (generally good) and understanding the math long term (Tournaments sometimes make me question this, but in cash games it is always the math). Trying to stay strong on the basics....part of the reason I enjoy you videos :)

Thanks for the video. I'm primarily a tournament player and recently stepped up to larger stakes, WPT and WSOP events. I've been knocked out of several events when bad players hit a 1 or 2 outer. I've started to let confidence in my game slip when I know I'm the best (or one of the best) at the table but I just can't get over the hump on the bigger events. Time to get out of my head and keep playing until the laws of variance tilt in my favor.

I know what your talking about. I’ve been playing Mtt’s online and I’ve went on a 4 tournament streak where I built up a huge stack like top 5 stack deep in a tournament and get it all in with aces and get called by two players and one of them will hit a 2 outer. Or get it all in pre flop with AK vs AT and they flop a T. Need to realize that there is luck involved and you can’t be upset when your getting your money in with the best hand. Also your hardly ever going to remember the hands where you hit the 3 outers when your dominated. So it’s going to feel like your always getting sucked out on. Which I’m sure you are more often than not. Keep your head up and stay on the grind.

Your biggest leak is playing online poker. It is a scam no matter what site you are playing on and if you cannot wrap your head around that fact then there is nothing anyone can tell you. Online poker programs are simply an intricate, complex algorithm written to funnel money to the sites' sponsored players. Actual rocket scientists and computer programmers will tell you online poker CANNOT be random because the computer HAS TO KNOW what cards are left to play. The dealer at the casino doesnt know they are about to burn the 3s and river the last A in the deck to bust your pocket K's, but the online poker program does!

One thing I would add, it's not necessarily that your table selection includes players who are WORSE at poker than you (they may know more about poker than you do), it's that you recognize their leaks, and they don't recognize your leaks. Really great players, it's very hard to recognize their leaks, as they are balanced and unlikely to make obvious errors. I have an exceedingly high win rate at the Bellagio playing $1-3 and $2-5, because many semi-pro players at these stakes, who make their money playing against the tourist player, don't change their strategy against me, so their playstyle is easy to exploit. What works against one type of player, will not work against other types of players. Often, low stake, better players, like to bully players they think are weak and will fold out good hands, and will continue to barrel three streets and get called down by players who know they are doing this. Their hands often don't make any sense by the river, and if it doesn't make sense as a hand, and you know they know what they doing, it's a bluff. Their bluffs don't have to make sense to the majority of players they are up against, so they are profitable despite that leak in their game. Recognize the leaks players have, and your win rate will go up.

Thank you so much for your great videos! They have helped my game out a lot. You always seem to post what I need to see, when I need to see it too. I have been playing on one of the poker sites regularly for about a month now and am doing OK. I have been up and down and am currently even. This video is what I needed to see right now so thank you again. I have made 5 final tables in this time with a 2nd place and 2 third place finishes. My play in between these final tables is the problem. ha ha. I have figured out that the cash game option is not for me. I lose a lot of money there. It is hard to stay off them though as I feel it IS a way to make some quick money, but after seeing this video, I realize there is NOT a quick way. For me, playing in the 5, 10 and 15 dollar MTT buy ins has been my best option. My emotions do get the best of me, but I am working on that too. I know we have all experienced the bad beat and that is my biggest challenge, how I react after.

I do not say this lightly because I hate gambling or Texas Hold 'Em, although it takes minimal knowledge of cards to play it, I say it because if these websites continue to steal money from the common player then they are going to ruin the game in the long run, just so a few like Negreanu and other sponsored players can buy in 15 times, win the tournaments and make the site more money by drawing in more suckers. It's a shame scammers have taken it over. fwiw, i have 2 WSOPc Cashes, one being a final table, 3rd place finish out of 392 people, which came in 2008, and another cash, 22nd place. glty!

Agree. When you have the best hand pre- flop, immediately build the pot profitably at its highest level.

Here's the last hand I played: I had KK. Bum calls my raise preflop with 9-3 suited in early position. The flop is 8-3-3. I lose my stack. This happens to me almost every session. How do I avoid this?

Fold pre...j/k but my last live hand I had my Aces cracked by J8o who called my 3bet in the small blind and flopped trips. Flop went check check and then he raised my small bet on the turn putting me all in. I sigh called knowing he most likely had a jack but I didn't have much left behind and it was possible he was over valuing any pair or pocket pair. I've been on a downswing live lately but all we can do is keep playing good poker and we will eventually see a profit.

Don't over play a pair, even a good pair. If you raise once, get called by trash, and stack off consistently against that trash, you are the one misplaying. It's all about stack size and control, if you have $300, but $15, get called by 9-3 suited, and are willing to bet all three streets, without thinking about "what is my opponent calling with" you are making the mistake, as almost any two cards can call you and win over time. That's because any no dominated hand, even bad ones, has equity against you and can call profitably when you over play a pair. You shouldn't be stacking off with KK on a 8-3-3 flop. That range hit's the caller more than it hits you, and if that player isn't stacking off with a pair of 8s, or something like 99 or TT, what are they calling you with? 88 or a 3. You need to learn to pot control, even with great preflop hands, because you are unlikely to get three streets of value with a pair against a worse holding. Now, in three and four bet pots, it can be different. You four bet KK pre, get called on that board, you can stack off, because they won't have odds to call you unless you are stupid deep, or screwed up your bet sizing.

Maybe bet enough pre flop that that hand would fold? Lately, I have had much better luck shoving hands like that all in, pre flop. Too many times I have tried to get cute with AA or KK and lost all my chips too. I am certainly no expert though. I would rather shove and have everyone fold and just win the blinds than try and get fancy and end up losing a lot. Also, every now and then the fish with K 10 suited will call your bet and double you up. Just my thoughts. Like I say, I am far from any expert. Just here trying to learn like everyone else.

For me it's A-5 and 9-j suited or not. I get them endlessly but can't ever remotely connect with them. On the other hand Q-10 gives me a 66% win rate. It's like I hit the Q every time. It's a bit funny and annoying really

I noticed a guy who was a very aggressive player and he was winning because he would always triple barrel and they always fold the river against him. So I bluffed him on the river with my busted nut flush draw and went all in on him on the river and he folded. And I showed him. He lost all his money and left like 2 hrs later.
