Several years ago, I worked as an office manager at a Veterinary Hospital and discovered why some veterinarians are so keen on prescribing expensive or dangerous drugs. When I printed the monthly reports for this hospital, I noticed that this animal hospital earned a percentage on the drugs issued from pharmaceutical companies.

I stopped taking my animals to the vet. It was becoming a money mill and my fur babies were getting injured from the drug pushes on them. Once I stopped everything and switched their food to healthy Whole Foods they are fine! I don’t trust vets. Just like I don’t trust medical doctors. I wish I could trust and rely on them and now I don’t. Except for this vet! Thank you for sharing with us! Todays vets and doctors are forced into legalized drug dealing and because of that, our health is no longer a concern.

Bravecto made by Merck , killed our girl, chocolate lab. We gave it to her after it came out because we have deer ticks so bad. She immediately developed chronic skin conditions and itched constantly, it dryed her skin out . After about 5 years to stop the itching, I gave her Cydopoint, then not long after she started having seizures which eventually ended her life this last Christmas. She was the sweetest girl almost made ten. Fortunately Apoquil gave her the runs, so I did not use it. I guess they do the trial testing on our pets , idk, but it sure seems so. My deepest sympathies to all pet owners who lost their beloved pets.

As a holistic hooman doctor, I was shocked when I saw how they prescribed a strong antibiotic, Gabapentin, Mirtazapine, Bupernorphine, and Robenacoxib my cat after his emergency bladder surgery. All of them went to trash can. They also wanted him to be on prescribed SO diet for the rest of his life. They even wanted to do a surgery to change his genitalia/urethra to prevent future problems. Of course, I refused. He is now is on raw food, CBD, Colloidal silver, and occasional Apple Cider vinegar. Removing his cone also made huge difference. He was getting depressed for not being able to groom himself. I removed after 2 days(rather than 14 days) and it changed his mood instantly. He never leaks his stitches. He is again my playful goofy boy. They even wanted to convince me he has anxiety and wanted to prescribe something for that. 😁 conventional veterinary medicine is exactly like conventional hooman medicine. I know most of them have good intentions and don’t know better. Thank you so much, Dr. Jones for being you and all you do. 🙏

@@lovemypups341some animals, particularly male cats are prone to "blocking" Crystals build up in the bladder and are excreted with the urine. Sometimes those Crystals clump together causing a blockage in the urethra. It is an immediate, life threatening emergency. It is more common in males due to their physiology, their urethra is longer than a female's. When the veterinarian preforms the surgery mentioned "to alter the genitals" they are shortening the urethra, making it much less likely the cat will block again. It is not a surgery the vets take lightly. This is a pretty basic explanation of a complex situation. A living being that is supposed to urinate but can't is in trouble, regardless of the species

There were very few meats and only 1 carbohydrate source he could tolerate. We only bought food with these few combinations, which was really difficult. Additionally we gave him the Apoquel the vet prescribed. Over years. It helped (before he had otitis and itching paws all the time!) Nobody warned me of the side effects. Only after he died from multiple cystosis in 5 intestinal organs did the vet concede that Apoquel was still very new at the time we started Enzo on it and they didn't know much about adverse reactions then. Prednisone can be a wonder for dogs with advanced cancer, making them more comfortable for their last few weeks, but I definitely don't use it for anything other than a last-ditch effort. My lovely Kelly had a mass on her spleen. A specialist gave her a detailed sonogram, because if it had only been the spleen, it could have been removed; but it had spread to her lymph nodes and other places. I had taken her to the doctor because she just didn't seem to feel good, nothing specific. They are just such troopers...by the time they let us know they don't feel good, it's often too late. The prednisone gave her three weeks of feeling better; she just wanted more car rides, and she got them.

My dog died from liver and kidney disease after starting carprofen (rimydal) and staying on it for 6 months. I took her in repeatedly and told them she had gone off her food, they never told me she should go off of the drug. I didn't see until i got a copy of her record after she passed. The vets never told me if she went off her food that it could be carprofen, her enzymes were elevated, they never followed up on other things they never told me about (kidney issues) but was only put in her record. I could kick myself for not pressing them, and not getting a full copy of her record from time to time. I assumed wrongly they were caring for her, reviewing her record before each visit. The only thing they cared about was getting paid. When i told them that she died over a weekend (unexpected on my part, they didn't seem worried when they saw her on the friday before), the vet said, oh, well that's too bad. She was my darling girl.

She had severe allergies, so bad that in 2015 I was encouraged to euthanize her. Instead I consulted a specialist, who prescribed Apoquel. She took it every day until the day she died. I had heard it could cause skin cancer in some dogs but the dermatologist said that was in rare cases. Her allergies subsided so completely that she was able to be a dog again. She got a few bumps over the years but biopsies were always negative so I didn’t worry. My poor girl didn’t deserve to die this way, neither did yours. Retired Vet Tech and Kennel manager for over 30 years. Rimadyl is REALLY bad on the kidneys & can be DEADLY (and poisonous ) to cats, as I found out the hard way 🥺 I was getting a tablet out for one of our big dogs, looked away for 2 seconds & my cat ate 1/2. Rushed to Emergency Vet, flushed his system for 2 days, at a cost of $2k!! Yes, kitty survived, but very dangerous med! ☠️ Thanks for sharing your knowledge w/all those who may not know these things. 🙏❤️🐾

Yes, very dangerous med but it has its place. A few years back my Shepherd bitch got tonsillar cancer and was put on Rimydl . It was the only thing that helped her and extended her life by a couple of months .😢 . Every drug is bad but their use can be life saving too, even if for just a short while.

True, the meds are there to help ease pain, clear up infection, etc, but not to be used as daily maintenance . No med should be given anymore than 7-10 days. Unless of course, your animal(s) are diabetic/epileptic.

My dog (senior, large breed) went on a test run with Rimadyl for his severe arthritis and it didn't help his pain and just gave him a lot of tummy issues while he took it. The medication not working was hard to watch, but now he is on a medication prescribed by a specialist that actually helps and won't make him suffer like Rimadyl would have. Everyone kept telling me that Rimadyl would take years before the organ damage would happen, but I was horrified after reading some stories and am so thankful he didn't stay on it.

Yes! When I mentioned to the vet I didn’t like it because of the side effects, she was like “oh what is it, vomiting or diarrhea?” I said no, she hasn’t experienced any I can see but the stuff is harmful. You have to be so careful these days how you talk to a vet (or a doctor) unless you go to a Holistic one. Ugh. Then she put my dog and my cats on “special prescription diets” to help with bladder stones! Why are all of my pets sick with that now and I know so many other people whose pets have this too?! The expensive food is complete 💩!! My dog was throwing up violently from it as time went on. They’re not supposed to be on it for life although the vet tells you they have to be. BS!

The vets took months to diagnose him (kept trying to convince me it was caused by dental disease, and tried to talk me into removing ALL his teeth)! I've learned several hard lessons about the dangers of pharmaceuticals with my beloved animal friends. I lost a dog to a gastric hemorrhage from Rimadyl. I lost a cat to osteosarcoma from a rabies shot. I knew those were risks of those particular drugs before using them, I just thought they were incredibly rare. What I didn't know, and what bewilders me and blows my mind to this day is that a common medication for ear infections will actually make dogs and cats deaf! ANIMAX ointment for ear infections MADE MY DOG DEAF! Why on God's green earth would anyone treat an ear infection with a medication that causes deafness?! It's absolutely criminal for veterinarians to prescribe this when there are safer alternatives! Also, though I've never had this happen with my cats I have heard of cats dying from using commonly prescribed eye infection medication containing polymyxin B. Just because these drugs are handed out like candy at Halloween it doesn't mean they're safe. QUESTION EVERYTHING YOU ARE BEING SOLD.

I tapered of it because my doctor doctor wouldn't help me. Anyway, if you got pain for you or your pet ; Equi- tite, or Equi- block is a rub on horse liniment, good for reducing inflammation & pain. * Similar to the human drug Icy Hot, only the horse drug does NOT contain lanocaine.,( which I am allergic to) I might have misspelled words. I thought she was going to die. The vet said she might have some sort of cancer, but I didn't have money to test for it, so they put her on Apoquel. Her skin cleared up, she gained weight and she lived the rest of her life with good skin until she died at 16 a few weeks ago. I didn't know at the time how dangerous Apoquel could be, but I am still glad I gave it to her. I also have a Boston Terrier who is a little over a year old, and she has allergies. I started giving her Apoquel, but after just a few days she became lethargic so I stopped it immediately. I won't give it to her again. So when I brought her in for an ear infection and have her liver enzymes rechecked (she had elivated levels previously) I asked how her liver looked. She said "her what? Oh. Yeah its great. Her numbers are fine". So I got the apoquel thinking it would be fine because she was otherwise healthy. It was horrific! Then after weeks of trying to keep her alive the vet says "well, it's probably her liver. Her numbers were really high last time you were here" WHAT??? I almost lost it. I was so angry. I almost had to put my best friend down! Then I stopped listening to them. Got her denamarin (which is milk thistle and Sam e), cbd, flax seed and changed her diet totally. Unfortunately she had already lost her eye sight. She has a little neurological damage too but shes happy and bouncy most of the time. It was the worst 3 months and theres nothing I can do. @wendylaxton3777 here's what the mayo clinic says SamE is S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe) is a compound found naturally in the body. SAMe helps produce and regulate hormones and maintain cell membranes. A synthetic version of SAMe is available as a dietary supplement in the U.S. In some countries in Europe, SAMe is a prescription drug Denamarin (a lot of vets I've spoken to said don't even bother with this. It doesn't do anything. Pet parents I've spoken to said it is a miracle and saved their animals life) has milk thistle compounds and SamE. You can get it online without a prescription or buy the supplements separately. I didn't have great luck trying to just use milk thistle and SamE supplements. I think if you have a large dog Denamarin can be a little spendy. My dog is 18 lbs so it's been not so bad. It changed everything so it's been worth it. I bought Organic Flax seed concentrated lignans at a whole food store. For my 18 lb dog it's about 1/2 a teaspoon a day poured onto her food. I started making her food at home and that made an insane difference. I hope this helps! Sorry it's so long. I tried the stuff the vet said for so long and finally decided I needed to figure this out. Because, even though I love her new vet, some of them are just too overworked to care anymore (or they have been sold the narrative that Purina is great and homemade food or supplements are harmful).

Of course I do my research on any drug and found out this one had a black box in the US and also, I found a website where people shared their negative experiences with it (horror stories). Of course, when the pets have side effects problems, the vets just say it is coincidental, so you can never win. Anyway, since I had no choice to buy it, I did, but never used it. I've had cats neutered for decades before and they were never sent home with medication. They did fine.

Yes, I have, we have never found anything conclusive. She is a rescue pug and a dog market puppy - which in Thailand means she was sold at 4 weeks of age. I acquired her when she was 3 mos old because her owner didn't want to deal her skin conditions. Which meant she had a poorly developed immune system. She had mange 3 x, intractable allergies, dry eyes, and constant ear infections. We have tried as mentioned elimination diets for over 3 months, then all natural foods, then special allergy food - we do know she is allergic to chicken - but she has been red and itchy all her life. We have special shampoos, we smother her in aloe vera gel daily, nothing has helped. She took Apoquel and her life changed. I think at her age - she will be 14 at the end of this year, I will do anything to ease the itching. This is the first product which has worked and believe me, we have tried everything!

I took him to a pet ER because he was very short of breath and in pain a prior larger dog 3 months ago hit him lower left quadrant region. He died from seizures a heart attack a stroke as soon as I left the office. Within 2 hours my Skip was gone. I was in a total state of devastation. He was my assistant in my business and his level of training. I literally cried 24 hours a day for seven straight months. The person that administered the shot of Rimadyl killed my dog. I just want to thank you so very very much for who you are and helping so many pet parents. Why didn't the vet warn me that Rimadyl has the potential of killing your dog. I also want to thank you for everything that you do. Your helping so many people and everyone loves and appreciates you. For each and every one of you who have lost your beloved pet know that they can still feel your spirit and presence and they love you very much as you love them. God bless each and every one of you who is reading this message. Keep it up Dr Jones!

Our adopted, large dog was on Rimadyl for a couple of years due to severe congenital hip dysplasia. At around the 18 month time of taking this medication she would occasionally vomit, lose her appetite, and just generally not act like herself. The vet said she might have eaten something that made her feel bad and if she didn't start eating again after a few days to bring her back. Usually around day 3 she would begin eating again and pretty much acting normal. This happened about three times in a 6 month period. Once she started eating again she would resume her food and Rimadyl medication. One night she showed all the signs of bloat and we rushed her to the emergency vet. They released the air, put her on pain meds and did x-rays. It turned out she had a perforated stomach ulcer. While the emergency vet wasn't 100% sure, she had the idea that the long term use of the Rimadyl was the culprit. As she was pretty old, and a three time cancer survivor, we did not want to put her through that again. We decided to let her go in peace. Unknown to us, and apparently her own vet, she was showing the classic signs of a stomach ulcer. It turns out that while she wasn't eating and not getting the Rimadyl she began to feel better and would start eating again. Once she started eating again we began her Rimadyl again, until eventually the ulcer burst. I wish we would have known then what we know now about this drug.

I had to put my sweet boy Sherman down, about three weeks ago. He was a Great Pyrenees mix rescue. After I got him almost 4 years ago he started crying and screaming like I have never heard an animal do. I took him to an emergency vet. They couldn't see anything with an X-ray. They told me it was probably a soft tissue problem and had me start him on Rimadyl. He did this a second time so I kept him on Rimadyl, probably for over two years. Towards the end, he was vomiting excessively, drinking large amounts of water, and finally stopped eating. After having an ultrasound done on him he was diagnosed with growths on his liver and thickening of his intestines. If I only knew the risks. I sure miss our "Handsome Boy" Sherman. Now I get to pet his box of ashes.

Thank you D. Jones. I’m so glad you brought up prednisone. Our dog was on it and he was a zombie. His behavior reminded me of our previous dog who was dying of cancer! It scared me. First day on it, he peed in the house, something he never does. Then, he started just standing there looking confused and would stay that way till we said something to him. He drank and drank and drank water. He acted like an 18 hr old dog and he was 3. The vet gave it to him for a nose issue. As I was giving it to him, I wrote you about my dog’s nose and you sent some suggestions on things to try and what you thought it may be. Well, I do believe it’s collie nose and we still have to do the aloe Vera and I use some snout soother. Without any meds, it keeps the nose issue way down and under control. Now, he only has some reddish spots just barely on the inside of his nose. Is used to curl around to the outside of his nostrils and it was RED HOT mad looking, like it was a live infection. So, of all treatments, the cooking for him with real food and the aloe Vera with snout soother worked. Dropped that prednisone that nearly killed him! Thank you!!!

I took him off of everything and found a homeopathic doctor who had given up his veterinary license (he had a very successful practice that he gave up) because he saw all the damage being done by allopathic veterinary practice. He has helped my dog tremendously with homeopathic remedies! This is the first summer he has had absolutely NO allergy symptoms! This man has been a gift from God for me and my dog. *ALWAYS look for a veterinarian who is naturopathic FIRST and ONLY uses medications when diet and natural remedies do not work!!! They are hard to find, but worth their weight in GOLD!!! Imho*

Enjoy your videos. This one is one of your best. 🏆 Would love to know more on this subject, especially more things that would be safer. Ex. arthritis meds, allergies, etc. I know you have done some other great videos on holistic medicine.

Thank you so much doc, this was helpful. I have made a habit that every time vet prescribed any meds to my kitty, I always google search what those medicines do and what are the side effects. Then I try to search for better and least affecting or natural ways to heal her, until and unless these meds are really required. And I do follow up your videos regularly for natural treatments, they definitely helped a lot.

Oh no!!! And I give this to my boy! Thank you for sharing this painful experience. I know for you all that has posted the Otomax experience and your poor furball going deaf, it may not bring back their hearing but trust you helped me and others by your pain. Give them a butt scratch from my Baxter and Bella. Thank you again ❤️

Thank you so much for this information. My four month old kitten, Jordan, died suddenly after I treated one of my older cats with Bravecto. I cannot help but think this was the cause.

I used it on my kitties once after my vet changed over from Revolution. It was so nasty and really gummed their fur up. I finally had to give them baths a couple days later. My older boy died not too long after that experience...a couple weeks maybe? Anyway, my first thought went to that. I can't be certain, though, because he did have a fairly serious known heart murmur (known for years before his death), pancreatitis (also known for years before his death), and was put on a kidney food (this one was shortly before he died). It could've been any of those things, especially since it appears he died of a blood clot. But my mind always goes back to Bravecto. It was the one thing that changed right before I found him.

This is a great video! I try to tell people about apoquel and most don’t believe the truth about it. Especially vet nurses. They’re the worst for ignorance

My furbaby got pancreatitis twice in a 6 month period with no diet change, no food scraps and she doesn't get into anything (puppy mill mama - too timid). I finally connected the dots. Both times this occured within 5 days after a Cytopoint injection (her 2nd and 3rd shot). Never again. I did some internet research. Although the drug company does not list it as a side effect, there are plenty of people on Reddit asking if Cytopoint could be the cause of their dog's pancreatitis. It cannot be a coincidence. Someone definitely needs to do a study! Thank you so much for your channel and for sharing your wealth of knowledge with the public!! 🐶♥⚕

Yup. My pug has been on apoquel for the past 7 years. He’s 12 now. And I will put some blame on the previous vets for jumping right onto this drug. Within a month of using, he developed these bumps all around his body. They did get rested and are benign and some vet dismissed and called them age bumps. And each time I give my dog the half pill….his system get immune to the dose and needs more. I didn’t know this is connected to infections because he has a terrible ear infection that doesn’t go away. I’m just scared my dog can have cancer. My worst fear.

The same thing happened to my dog!! Lots of weird bumps on her inner thighs after about a week or two of starting Apoquel. I had read online that was a side effect and my vet didn’t even know. Threw them all away.
