I've just started taking Flagyl, first pill about two hours ago, I feel dizzy little bit uneasy in my stomach, this is all a result of about a week of feeling unwell, I've received my stool tests confirming a stomach parasite. I have my suspicions it could have been from a bad sandwich I bought at a local store. Two weeks into my new apprentice job and I had to take brief time off and now I've lost my job as a result. Hopefully I experience no bad side effects and I can be back to good health soon. I wish everyone else who has stumbled here ; the best health you can have 👍 it seems like it's prescribed to many people over varying degrees of reasons - but we can always hope for better :)

Update; I've won the lottery, no I wish. I've been taking one tablet three times a day with each meal time and I'm starting to feel less side effects. Still get low strength headaches, dizziness, bit of mind fog and tiredness and weak stomach twists but it's probably not a concern. Some other people seem to have worse side effects 🤔.

​@@bbenh3729hi Ben, well I don't remember now but I'm doing ok. It's been many months. I think I may of felt funny for a few weeks but it didn't take long to feel back to normal. I would just recommend the basic hydration and food and a good sleep schedule and time should serve it well 🤙

Currently taking this med. Side effects: headache and feeling sick. Just eat and try to get through it.

Here's my experience taking Flagyl. I'm 30 years old and had unexplained weightloss. I started taking Flagyl to get rid of parasites. I had all the bad symptoms of having parasites. Since I'm underweight I only took 250mg of Flagyl once per day. I took one pill after lunch everyday for 10 days and I had no negative symptoms. The only bad thing was a headache here and there. I feel much better now and no more constipation or tenderness in my abdominals. Hope this helps someone. Don't be scared to take it and a trick I used was to eat a banana right after I took the pill and eat a sugar free mint to mask the taste. Other than that it worked for me 🙏

I was given several different antibiotics over the course of a few months as well. The only one that worked was Septra. This metronidazole has me in a lot of pain even weeks after I stopped it. I can tell my body has been altered inside. Don't take any medicine unless you absolutely need it

@@americausa5448 It all depends on what you were prescribed it for. I read some reviews where people said that they asked for Metronidazole in a GEL instead. But if the GEL isn’t going to help you, I would simply ask for a different medication, that will help treat the same thing, if you’re not comfortable. And good job on doing your research before just taking this medication! 👏🏽

I’m currently taking azithromycin and he told me to take the other one right after it. How long did your side affects last? Can you please share?

Hi uneekkk, has your anxiety and panics attacked lessened since you stopped? I finished my 3 week course of this drug yesterday and I’m currently experiencing everything you’ve listed. I feel awful and trying to keep myself busy so I don’t have another panic attack. I’m happy to have figured what caused this anxiety and I’m hoping I return to normal after being off it a few days

This pill had me sweating like I stole something and on the toilet.

I put off taking the medicine for until a month after the bottle expired and then I was like all right I got to take the medicine I got to do it but I was just scared about the side effects of review's but I took it I really love you a lot I think it calmed me and my brain my mind is more focused I feel better my stomach feels more calmer so it really helped for me I took it for a 7 days

A veterinarian i went to yesterday prescribed this for my CAT who has had bad diarrhea for 7 days. i hope it works

I will rather expect Chief Ladoja to discuss with both the Olubadan and the State Governor to find a peaceful and permanent Solution to this Problem. There is already too much Developmental Problems in Oyo State particularly in Ibadan being the State Capital and we cannot afford to add a lingering Chieftancy Problem . I hope some Elders of Ibadanland to wade into this matter and get Cheif Ladoja to withdraw the case from the Court because it does not matter the final decision of the Court will create further problems for Ibadan.

@@Unek0777 hi yes that’s completely makes sense now. A few times my anxiety level did raise cause I could feel my heart rate pounding out of my chest. To be fair I was wired on coffee and didn’t get the best sleep. I’d definitely ask a doctor how to do counteract some of those feelings. I imagine someone with severe anxiety/depression can exacerbate those issues. I only have one more day left after today, finish meds tomorrow. I have been on a two week cycle/twice each day. As of today is my 13th straight day. I am surprised I made this far without stopping it but I was able to push through. There’s no way I could do this medication for two months. I do see now what you’re talking about

@@richjustin06 Yesterday made 1 whole week since I’ve taken my last antibiotic & I feel a tab bit better. I still have random episodes of fatigue, weakness, lightheadedness, etc…which could easily be all symptoms of anxiety/panic attacks. My GUT is going through it right now. And I’ve run across multiple videos, posts & articles explaining the link between your brain & gut. So now, I’m focused on detox my gut completely from all the sh*% (antibiotics) that I’ve been prescribed. When I say I feel terrible majority of the day, I literally do.

@@Unek0777 ya man this stuff kills all good and bad bacteria in your gut. We need a lot of good bacteria in there as well. My doctor prescribed me probiotic’s to take along with antibiotics and it has helped tremendously with the runs. Still have them but not nearly as bad. It’s a months supply so once the antibiotics finish it’s course I can re-introduce all the “good” bacteria in my gut quicker to get it back to normal. Hope that helps you a bit

Guys I was prescribed this drug. It made me ill and feel like I was dying. I stopped taking it and listened to what my body and mind told me and healed myself. Be careful following guys like him telling you not to stop taking drugs. Think twice.

I've done taking Metronidazole for 7 days. it really makes me unweak and exhausted thought its normal. Thanks for this video now I realized it's all side effects.

Man I got prescribed this medication, for H. Pylori stomach infection. Clarithomycin 1000mg/daily. 1000mg metronidazole/daily and Amoxicillin 2000mg/daily. I’m only halfway through my treatment (one more week to go) but safe to say I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. It’s really unpleasant, somehow I still find the energy to work and drive Monday thru Friday

@@michaelwatts421 lucky. For some reason the doc prescribed me strong doses. For the most part they make you feel dizzy, nauseous, tired and give you the runs. It’s funny, I feel fine without the medications but after I take them is when I start feeling sick again lol. Either way, my doctor and pharmacist advised I supplement with 40mg of probiotics when I go to bed and that’s helped significantly in reducing the diarrhea, all the other side effects are pretty standard with this much medication. I’m on day 11, still got 3 days more days to go so I’ll give you an update again after Wednesday. Thanks for asking

I was so scared to take this medicine because the side effects are REALLY BAD. I literally didn’t take it until after the week I was prescribed. The taste is awful so what I did was hold my head back with milk In my mouth and quickly swallow it! My head does hurt while taking this but it’s not that bad! Hopefully I recover from my infection!

It’s really disgusting as far as taste! Omg it’s super bitter. I was given flagyl in combination with two others for h-pylori (bacteria in my stomach) I tried everything to bypass the taste so finally I decided to wrap each pill in a thin piece of bread and I could take it without the taste! Why do dentist / drs insist on this drug when augmentin works too. I Was intent to take this drug as have molar extraction next week, but 48 hrs in, and yet again same as previous times the side effects esp immense stomach pain isn’t worth the grief. Glad to tune in and note I’m not the only one having problems with this drug. Thank you.

Ok seeing everyone’s comments made me feel better because WHOA this pill is strong! Dizzy, loopy, and hardly coherent. I can’t wait until I’m done

Hello this medicine metronidazole prescribed for me to take it before my surgery. My question is, I'll be taking it during my bowel prep in between so how isn't going to be effective if everything is all coming out and I cannot eat no food when I take the medicine will that hurt my tummy?

I hate flagyl I’ve been taking these for as long as I could remember for bv and honestly it doesn’t work for me and it also causes a yeast infection so I started using boric acid suppositories that helps tremendously they need to do something about that after taste because flagyl is horrible no matter what I drink or eat I can taste the metallic 🤢

Keep taking? Even if it's making you sick, nauseous, shaking and loss of appetite.

Hello Handsome Dr. I have pain in the right of my abdomen the colon, I believe, is causing the cylindrical distension, which is accompanied by irritating abdominal sounds. I have been having constant headaches and lightheadedness, when I asked my doctor she said this should not cause you that. It clearly says on the medicine that dizziness is one of the side effects. :(

I've been putting off taking it for months after reading the reviews, but my sibo just keeps getting worse and worse to the point I'm struggling to eat anything, so I think I'm going to have to give in and start taking it. My naturopath prescribed it with rifaxamin, LDN, bismuth, sunfiber supplement with probiotics, glutagenics by metagenics and I'm going to take a probiotic as well. I've already started the LDN which made me sick at first but it helped a lot, but I definitely need to start the rest soon. 😭 I hope I don't get super sick, I can't miss work.

@@samira7064 honestly I would dissolve them in water and crush them up but it wouldn’t work and didn’t get rid of the infection that way. So I just learned how to take pills u put the pill on the back of your tongue and chug water down and the pill will go down

But when eating rice, it made the nausea really bad. I took it around 4 since that is when I get home from work. It’s not advised to put the tablet in your vagina and the gel you can’t use during your period you have to wait until your period end

I was meant to take 2 tablets a day during the morning and the evening for bacterial vaginosis but for the first two days I made a dumb mistake as I misread it wrong and was just taking 1 pill in the morning and evening - basically I guess you could say I was taking half dose for two days. During this time however, the symptoms did disappear and once I realised I immediately started taking the dose correctly from the third day. Due to this, I had to extend the course of treatment to 6 days (treatment duration was meant to be just 5 days but I still had tablets remaining) to finish the course in a timely manner. I didn't double dose at all. Will this be a problem?

i took flagyl 3 times a day. the second day, i vomitted and had diarrhea huhu i really want to finish taking this for 10 days but my body seems to reject it.. or maybe I'm allergic 😭

@@mariasandoval9910 after a week of stopping taking metronidazole .. i took it again, now on my 7th day.. 2 times a day.. not vomiting anymore.. no diarrhea.. just darkened urine and bitter tasting tongue.. i suspect before that i was taking alot, that was 3 times a day with doxycycline 2 times a day... or maybe it had some reactions with doxy..

Can a male use this antibiotic for a uti?

A doctor gave me flagyl 2gram (400mgx5) to take at once for my bv (cause 5 days treatment 2x 200mg table didnt work) so i just did take all at once and now my stomach bloating so much. Help......

I take it through antibiotics but the side effects are HORRIBLE. I have headaches, severe nausea and a bad taste. This comes with dizziness. All has gotten worse today (4th day of treatment). Should i stop it? Yet, i wanna finish it to get rid off the gardanella garnilis.

As this was two years ago I’m sure this is no longer an issue 🤣 but for anyone reading you should avoid alcohol until at least 48h after your last use of the gel. Even a topical treatments of metronidazole like this can trigger what’s known as a disulfiram-like reaction in some people, which can make you very unwell

Iwas given this medicine after giving birth due to lower abdominal pain which was very serious but still it persist what is the ploblem

When I get tooth abscess, sinus, or ear infection, my physician prescribes metronidazole with amoxicillin-clavulanate and 1000mg of ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and I don't feel side effects except for a slight stomach irritation. The only precaution is to not consume alcohol or alcohol-based products like mouthwash or toothpaste with glycol and to avoid laying down at least 2 to 3 hours after a dose. Works fast! 🩺

I got really sick after eating a sandwich about a month ago. Ever since then I have been having abdominal pain. Went for ultrasound and X-ray. Showed nothing. Finally stool tests show i have entamoeba coli. My doc gave me 750mg 3x a day of metronidazole. Do u think this will be effective in finally alleviating my symptoms? It’s been a month and a half

How did it go? That seems like quite a strong dose and I'm having a lottt of side effects with 500mg 2x/day

Is this supposed to make my period start? My period just started for the first time in 7 months one day after this medication

Wonderful medication. They gave me 250mg 3 times a day for 10 days. Luckily no side affects. It’s started working right away to treat ulcers in my intestines.

@@joyleenketiwa9204 yes heard from my Dr. Probiotics lessen the side effects caused by antibiotics. I was recommended to wait at least 2 hours after taking the last dose of antibiotics to re-introduce the probiotics to the system. So far I’m on day 4 and it’s helped a lot with diarrhea
