It depends on what you want to do. As said above it was awesome while it worked. May have been faulty but we are not too sure as we haven't sent it back. A friend has one that hasn't broken yet and he has had it for a few years. Our experience was great...until limp mode

I would recommend avvoiding getting a stealth module. I have a 6.0 litre SSV Redline and the stealth module killed my throttle body after a while even though I hardly played with it.. On one particular day the car went into limp mode 11 times. New throttle body plus fitting cost me $770. I have since removed the stealth module as I don't wanna tempt fate again. Oh... and the 14.3 showing on the module in your vid was voltage. Your alternator was working it's tits off.

The seat click is easy to fix. It’s caused by a rubber pad on the inside of the plastic seat back that goes sticky with age. When you push back on the seat, the sticky plastic sheet sticks to the seat back and then when you lean forward it comes unstuck and makes the noise. To fix, just pull the plastic seat backs off and remove the sticky rubber sheet. You can leave it off completely or replace it with something. I had some adhesive backed rubber from Clark Rubber that I put on. You may break plastic clips doing this, the workshop manual says they are a one time use. Mine didn’t break though.

@@Jake-vi3pm 😂😂💀 best car is Toyota Camry. Shit don’t break down even if it on fire 😂 are you on your p’s? NSW P plater cars I would recommend would be Subaru liberty gt, Subaru brz or Toyota 86. My preference would be brz. Other options are s15, s14, Ralliart, Honda accord euro, GTI, Ford Focus st, Honda Civic if u wanna chuck a bunch of shit on it, Ford Focus xr5 turbo. One of the most fastest p plate legal cars with exhaust tunes to pop and crackle, Honda integra type r or maybe if u want something reliable and cool at the same time. I’d go for the Hyundai i30. All comes with its own issues and problems but i30 is pretty good bro. Personally, I love my sv6 ve. If I have it till next year (my fulls) I will chuck a cold air intake and a crackle tune on it. I have my car photos on Facebook marketplace, just up there for offers no rush to sell.

I know its an old video but TIP size does not matter. sure with a v6 and straight through 3"+ pipes you can lose a little power and it will drone heaps. 2.5-2.75" pipes will have the best note and flow well for tuning. if adding forced induction would go for 3-3.5" pipes. TIPS are just for looks and size does not matter, twin 3.5" tips fill the hole out nicely but very tight fit (and would work fine on a sv6 with 2.5" pipes.)

The seat making the noise is the fact they cover the seat back internally with a very cheap sticky Backed padding and it wears and the sticky stuff under it starts to touch the plastic seat back inside and it like pops as it unsticks , FIX- take the back of the seat panel off and clean the sticky crap of it and bingo no noise :)

how do exhaust tip size affect tuning? 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust SYSTEM needs to be tuned because of scavenger value and exhaust venting but it doesn't matter the size of the exhaust tip. Xforce exhaust is flawless I have installed on my SSV manual 2009 VE with a X flow not H pattern and it pops and crackles. Never have I been told by a tuner that Xforce is not desirable for tuning. How much do you really know about mods?.

  • @BrokeCarConnoisseurs

Hi Craig, you will notice the comment regarding the XForce exhaust was off the back of the Supercharged SV6 owners advice. This has come from a viewer who has supercharged their SV6 and had it tuned professionally to the current HP of 403. (Note NOT an SSV) Also, we did not mention exhaust tips affecting tuning but thank you for that information regarding the scavenger value and exhaust venting. Exhaust tips don't mean anything in relation to power lol the size of the tip effects the resonance of the sound, Bigger tip = more resonance. The gas in the exhaust has already built up velocity before it hits the tip (say you have a muffler with a 2.5 inch inlet leading to a 3 inch tip) so low end torque is not affected.

Good luck getting it insured. I'm not on my P plates, my SV6 is not modified and i still got knocked back. I have to pay a lot with the one that didn't knock me back. Change the oil every 5000 km cause the V6 has its issues, IMO buy a V8 when you finish your P's don't waste your time or money on the V6. Modified commodore's with p plates are also a cop magnet. Petrol 9.5/100 km (but traffics light at the moment due to lock down) 10.4/100 (normally) The 50/50 weight balance makes it handle like its on rails (unmodified can't comment on lowered). Use Quality tyres nothing cheap and nasty. Don't put (much) bigger wheels on a car because 1. its a harder ride. 2. It will effect you acceleration, speed and braking performance. 3. you need to upgrade your brakes (big wheels with small brakes looks strange) Get an XR6 the Barra is bullet proof.

  • @homiero8008

I don't own a vz but I imagine I'd be right with this. Exhaust, yes you absolutely can, just find one that fits and is made for a vz, the springs, are also a big yes. Wheels obviously are a yes also. For the throttle response controller thingy, they only work for cars with electronic throttle, I'm not sure if a vz has that, you should be able to have a look at your throttle body, if there is a metal cable and a semi circle looking thing and you can open and close it with your hand, it isn't electric, which means it won't work. As for the tune, I would discuss that with a tuner and try to find out if you think it would be worth it. I don't think you'd get a lot more power from a tune but I could be wrong, might drive a bit better, but again, ask a tuner. Hope that helps somewhat

Got my ve on ssl king spring front and sssl rear but stick to ssl rear so it doesn’t scrape on your muffles unless your changing to something smaller which will be fine, you can also have 2” bigger rim from standard so mine came with 18 and i went up to 20” and yes it passed roady haha.

Is it legal to have a throttle controller on your p’s?

Power to weight ratio remains unaffected with a throttle controller. It simply increases or decreases the sensitivity of the accelerator.

Hey mate, I haven't had any issues with mine yet. However, I have heard that they are an issue and can be quite expensive to change. I guess it depends on the age of the car and how well it has been looked after

Daily Fortnite Streams!!! I’ve owned 2008 SV6 since 50,000kms and it now has 325,000kms and I haven’t had an issue with mine. From what I understand most of the timing chain issues were in the initial production run and were sorted fairly quickly.

The biggest issue is the PCV valve. Oil clogs up on the drivers side, causing poor lubrication, parts wearing out prematurely (timing chain) or worse. Get an oil catch can installed to replace the PCV valve.

Hey KRTKL, congrats on the car purchase! It can be expensive but it depends on how hard you drive it. When I first got the car fuel was expensive because I drove a lot. Now it is around $60-80 per week. Hope that helps 👍

KRTKL. It does depend very much on how you drive it. I’ve averaged 8.5L/100km from my automatic SV6 on mostly highway driving (about 80/20 split between highway vs city) which is quite economical for a V6. My manual SSV on the other hand averages 12.6L/100km doing the same driving, although I always make use of the effortless torque of the 6 litre so I don’t try and drive it economically either!

1 exhaust empire is cheap for a reason 2.5" for sv6 but v8s love the 3" and it's the whole cat back not the tips that will decrease power on v6 2 suspension go coilovers 3 wheels 4 if ya want crackle etc buy a cheap eBay 2 step 5 timing chains cause sv6 are crap and prone to throw a timing chain If ya want more power buy a v8 or get a cam otr and tune you'll make a bit more power but definitely wouldn't bother with turbo or supercharger on the sv6

Guys you dont need to mod the VE sv6 its perfect stock, ive driven and owned the VF sv6, VF gts, Ve ss ute manual with 320rwkw, territory turbo, xr8 au and BF, but the stock ve sv6 slaughters all the above for steering feel with the lighter 6 up front, the vf electric steering lacks the great feel of the ve sv6 and even the VE 8's lose the great feel of the 6, even the steering in my nc mx5 feels lifeless compared to the ve sv6 and everyone raves on about the mx5 steering.

throttle controllers are definitely not worth it for the performance side, maybe for saving fuel but when i spent $250 on a throttle controller all it did was remove half my throttle, if i wanted to rev my little 4 cyl lancer at 6000 rpm on every turn i take when accelerating i would of just drove it harder, dont waste your money on a throttle controller
