never thought about a store, i've been picking up sets to hold onto more as an investment for down the road. one of which is the Guardians of the Galaxy sets that revolve around Thanos and the Infinity Stones(think there was 5 or 6 sets in total).

I had a seller who sold me pieces dirty with sticker glue. I think a 6th advice is separate stickered from non stickered pieces

Are you always sticking to the 3 times part out value or have you every gone lower? What is your average part out value multiplier when you buy sets? And what have the best multiplier value been? 😊 I live in Denmark where Lego sets are usually priced higher than in the US, so it is hard to find sets with more than a 3 times part out value. I rarely find things for x3 I do x2 as a min

For a new store get 20-100lb of used Lego no more than $5lb and make sure there are some good min figs in there as well this will help get sales in the beginning vs parting out every clearance set every other seller is parting out, the only way you can compete is lower your price and it is a race to the bottom just to get sales.

Is it better to prioritize selling parts over full sets? I suspect parts are better to sell at least starting out, because they can generate a higher sales transaction volume, which means more reviews. Or is there also normally a higher ROI for parts compared to sets?

Hi, how about sets that you have parted out that you have either gotten as a kid for birthdays or stuff that you just have had for a really long time and you don't know how much you have spend on it.

I usualy just sell all the spare parts i dont need when i buy sets for the minifigs or specific parts

I am happy to say I made all of those 5 mistakes :D :D :D Well none of them thankfully. I think if someone has a bit of common sense then they should be ok ;) I just tried to spend as less as I could on storing the LEGO and I'm sort of glad I did because I hardly make that much money really + I think some People(mainly Kids I guess) watch all the LEGO KZread BrickLink seller's videos and think it's easy to do and they will make loads of money quickly but I have seen millions of sellers come and go because it isn't a get rich quick thing especially if you don't spend 24/7 on it which is a way to make some money. Cool videos as always ;)

How do you determine the cost per piece when you buy a set and part it out ? And on the flip side when you buy used bulk how do you assign a cost per piece ?

We use an average. Every used piece that goes through the system has the same cost.

Hopefully I word this correctly. But when it comes to inventory...let's say you have a 100 2x4 red bricks and one person orders all of them and your in the process of filling that order and another person orders 10 a short time later before you or bricklink updates your the quantity "on hand". How do you fill the second (smaller) order?

This can only happen when using syncing software. Bricklink updates quantity near instantly. This has happened once or twice for our when someone made an order on brick owl and bricklink. The statistical chance is virtually zero since the inventory is synced every 5 minutes. Someone would need to order the same piece in the same 5 minute section. We just refund the 2nd order and apologize.

So I'm a Magic/YuGiOh/Pokemon seller, and there are "price guides" so I can see which ones are rare and worth money. Is there anything like that for Lego? Also there are just straight up "buy lists" where you publish a list of cards you're always looking for and the price your paying, so other people sell straight to you and then you sell for profit, is there anything like that? Do lego exchanges exist other than bricklink? Bricklink looks like it was designed in 2005 and never updated. I find it difficult to use. :) Any advice would be great.

I going to graduate from college soon and I'm looking to unload a bunch of my lego Star Wars collection. I've been collecting for nearly 15 years, and I've used Bricklink before, so I know what my lego is worth, but I'm not looking to get invested for the long hall. Do you think Bricklink is the website I should be using, or should I try selling somewhere else?

well the part vs lots amount is tricky .. you probably sell 1 lot of 1000 faster than 100 lots of 10 each .. it really depends on the type of part. Basic brick = less lots and more peices is better. Special parts it´s better to have more lots.

hey. i am a moc builder but i also want to have a bricklink store for some money to buy more lego for myself. how can i handle 2 different inventories? (one for bricklink and my own personal one) also thanks for answering my question in this vid

Good list of things to look out for. Don’t spend your profits on needless things. Reinvest often.

So, I have a question. Say I buy a lot of Lego and it has quite a few sets in it. How would I find out how much I paid for an individual piece?

If you are looking for an average for accounting/cost of goods sold you can just figure out how many pieces are in the lot and divide by the total cost of the lot. This should give you an average of how much you paid.

a amazing revieuw but it would help if you would get better glasses, or get lenses, ur glasses are too big for ur head, im actually suprised the retail store manager didnt tell you that!

That is great to hear! Keep in mind the BrickLink terms say you have to be 18 years or older to operate a store... and a BrickLink store definitely requires more time and dedication than a part time job. Good luck!

Alright - question for Evan or other sellers - I’m a new store. I’ve followed the tips, I have 11k pieces and almost 1200 lots, my prices are at the 6 month average, I ship the next day and at this point I’ve only had two orders. In two weeks. So my question is ... is it the name? Or does it really just take time?

my first order took 2 weeks to come in, you will get orders soon enough but if youre willing to expand your reach for more clientele, knowing how to promote your store or get media experience on how to attract people to your store, like how some open channels like this one. i wouldve never heard of "just a brick in the bucket store" until i went on youtube for tutorials. because of this channel more people will visit your store

Id say that your inventory and lot count is still quite low. As the lot count grows you appeal to more buyers searching their wanted lists as you can fufil more of their order, likewise as your item count grows you again appeal to more buyers. Try and get a goid balance on parts and minifig parts too

Well, i found a bricklink store here in germany, 90k items in 1600 Lots, only 11 Orders in 4 months :( Found it through the wishlist Option, bought more parts than needed to Support him/her. Delivery came within 2 days (which is extremly fast here), excellent packend, the used parts were as New, still dont know why it has now only 13 Orders :/ (bought 2 times there)

Idk if I just got lucky or if it’s because I sell minifigures only vs bulk LEGO pieces. I have had my store open 10 days and I’ve had 39 orders. Minifigures definitely do better than LEGO pieces. So maybe have both in your stock.

I think, if you sell separate pieces, you need to have either very rate parts or a very large quantity. Usually part buyers have a list of parts they are searching for and then look for the store having the most of those for the lowest price. With 1200 lots, chances aren't very high to hit exactly that list. If you are selling minifigs or complete sets, it's a lot easier, because buyers might just come to your store for just one specific item and only get a few loose parts because they are ordering anyway.

@@brickblastproductions6498 if it's the og design, forget it and sell the minifig parts u have. If it's the new design, they're still expensive but much easier to find. Clone trooper stuff is very expensive in general.

I'm really sorry. Between each tip, I would stomp over where he was, and it would stop. Then I would start, and sometimes it started making noise before I was done with the tip. It doesn't last the whole video fortunately. Sorry about that :(
