If you are moving that quickly, I suggest that you are almost jogging or speed walking!!...I ran for more than 20 years and now that I am much older I am a walker but I am still very competitive, with myself!...I could jog 5kms in 27 min but now that I am walking, it takes me almost twice as long, at 51 min...(5.1km)...I seriously question your time of 7.24/km when "walking"...if true, you surely are an impressive example of a 73 old...if not true, it is demoralizing to the rest of us who are continually attempting to beat our last time...good luck to you.

Many thanks for another brilliant video Will. I will most certainly be doing these exercises before my daily walk. After a fall a couple of years ago, I’ve always walked arm in arm with my husband. However, today during an assessment prior to a copd course, I had a walk test unaided which was excellent, but I did find my left ankle flapping onto the floor. I’m sure it’s due to having sprained my ankle a while ago and not having a compress put on it at the hospital! Is it at all possible that it might be corrected or made a little easier by doing the tibia exercises you did at the beginning of your video on preparing or other exercises? Thanks again Wil

Thank you for this and all your vids. I wonder whether this exercise would have helped my mother in the early stages of Lou Gehrig's Disease. I remember her tripping for the reason that you have just described. Of course, much more is known about ALS in the 30 years since her death. As for myself, I will add this to my regimen in memory of her. Also, it's taken me one year and nine months to recover eleven weeks in bed. I had to learn how to stand up, walk, and talk again (it was an incredible fight. The things I took for granted.). Giving the body a chance and, of course, the grace of God and a lot is possible. Thank you again.

These are very good for both before and after walking. I am 67 and when I go to Disney World (2x a month) I can walk 10,000 to 13,000 steps. Warming up and cooling down stretches help a lot. There is also a hip release for that sharp pain in hips when walking. To relieve hips stop walking and move the hips in a figure 8, like a salsa dance, then continue walking. It works for me, try it yourself.

Anything that can help, I will try. I got compression from carrying the PRC radio and crypto gear along with my combat load. It was only about a hundred pounds or so. My gait is now so gimpy jacked from my feet, with several breaks, my knees with no cartilage, my hips and sacroiliac that are constantly grinding and popping. I’m almost certain the old woman in the shoe has better hips than me.

You’re quite amazing in how you’ve zeroed in on the nuance of these problems. I’ve been doing PT quite a lot over the last three years first for one thing then another but no one has ever been as specific as you are e.g. in your first exercise what you do differently is the leaning against the wall and although you say “toes” I can see it’s not just the toes but the foot up to the heels. Previously I’ve done the exercise but not leaning against the wall and THATS what has made the difference. So now I have been able to relieve my pain!! Hopefully now that I’ll be doing it regularly relieving the situation before it becomes pain. In any case thank you for offering all the suggestions you do in all your videos. I made a comment on your stenosis videos video too.

I have been doing other exercises that you have shown and will include these. I am a bit discouraged about walking ( I am primarily a swimmer ). I am recovering from an illness where I was bedridden for four years. I have been in recovery for about 3 years now - slowly improving. But with walking, I get a pain in my left calf muscle behind my knee. I think it is due to hyperflexion of my left leg. I found out that I had this problem when I took ballet. I think I have had this pain off and on all my life, because it is so familiar. I am almost 70. I feel that this is something I will just have to live with. I can’t change my anatomy - certainly not at this age.

This is a comment about a previous video - elderly people falling over and then can't get up. The video involved being able to get up using a chair to hold on to - but if you fall over this option is not always available. I'm 83 and this is what I do - it came from a Japanese film watching Japanese getting up from the floor. First I have scoliosis so getting on to floor is difficult because I am megga stiff on on the right side. However I manage it. At the end of floor exercises, I roll over on to my front, then using my hands as a support, I start to draw u my knees, my hands are in contact with the loor, I lean forward, my weight is then taken by my hands and arms, I draw my right leg up towards my body, the right foot toes are then in contact with the floor. I can then use the toes of the right foot as a lever to get the left foot up and under, I then use my hands and toes together to get up. Hope this helps.

In mid 50's, decided to take up running, currently at 2.25 miles 2x week. Been wanting up frequency and mileage but sore/stiffness has deterred me. Gonna try these exercises, I bet they help. Have been doing Yoga for about 3 years and highly recommend it for increasing flexibility. Prior to Yoga, my lower back was a wreck and it has literally saved me. Will report back on the results...

Your exercises have been a godsend, Will, and your teaching style is crystal clear. I have looked at many PT’s on KZread, and by far your videos have been the most helpful. Thank you so much for making this information available to us folks who really need it. Question ~ the last exercise here is similar to the lying-down-on -your-side exercise you demonstrate in the 3 exercises for the meniscus video. Are they interchangeable?

@@sylviepapineau118 You ever hear of the expression... Patience is a virtue? He wants to explain how and why the exercise he's going to presents works. But, if you don't have the patience, then you can actually skip to the exercise part very easily. Notice the breaks in the video's progress line at the bottom of the video? Use your cursor and click on the various breaks until you get to the actual exercise. You're welcome!

Hi I'm new to this channel and find it extremely helpful. I hope he takes time to address questions like yours as I'm new to "over 50" work outs and am curious as well.😊

I have trouble walking longer ever since my knee injury two months ago. I used to normally walk 4.5kms but now not even more than half a km without the quad stiffening up and making me wobbly. hope your exercises help me . Thank you for sharing.
