Just some fun facts. I grew up watching black and white movies with Kwan Tak Hing as Wong Fei Hoong fighting villains always played by the equally famous "villain" Shih Kien. In all martial art movies, Kwan had the biggest most ferocious eyes and Shih Kein had the most vicous face. Bruce Lee featured Shih Kein as Han in his movie "Enter the Dragon". I once had the opportunity to watch a public exhibit of martial arts where Kwan was there to demonstrate his skills with the whip. He could whipped the cigarette off his assistant's mouth from a distance. Cheers

Great comment! Awesome facts! I learned of the Wong Fei Hung films after I had been a longtime fan of the genre. I grew up in the Lau Kar Leung era, but love the films of great actors such as Want Yu and the earlier era as well.

I learned of Kwan Tak Hing from my parents who were both born in 1945. I reckon Kwan Tak Hing and Shih Kein were big movie stars, especially in the time where the only entertainment was the silver screen..

@matthunter9562 First off it's not with y but spelled Jackie Chan!!!! He hasn't spelled it that way since 76/79. Up till 1980 the Y was removed once Jackie had signed with Golden Harvest when he made Young Master in 79 and released in 1980. Drunken Master was a 1978 movie not an 80's movie.

I never knew that was Wong Fei Hung eventhough i watched it as a kid...lol. Only until recent modern times i read about it again (and probably after Drunken Master 2 that i realized that character was Wong Fei Hung). Jet Li still makes he better Wong Fei Hung though. He has that firm aura. Jackie Chan is just too comedic to be taken seriously.

Hi, I highly recommend General Yue Fei who invented Xing Yi Quan ( Xing Yi Fist ). He invented it to train his army to fight the Jin invaders of the North who were giving the Song Dynasty a hard time. There is no retreat in Xing Yi bcoz General Yue Fei custom made it for attack. It is based on spear fighting. Another one is Baji Quan ( Baji Fist ) which was invented during the Qing Dynasty ( Manchurian ). Both Xing Yi and Baji are still being practised today. Third one is Ming Dynasty General Qi Ji Guang who invented the 'Mandarin Duck' formation and the long sword ( adaptation of Japanese samurai's katana ) to fight against Japanese pirates in the Fujian province. The long sword is still being practiced in China and the West today. The laz one is Yong Chun Quan ( Wing Chun in Cantonese and taught by Ye Wen ( Ip Man ) to Bruce Lee ). Hope you will do a video about it soon. To date no one can really define who invented it ... was it Yim Wing Chun ( a lady ) or Leung Zan ( a guy working in the Chinese opera )?

Wong Fei-Hung had strong connections to the Lama/Pak Hok Pai style as his father was friends with one of the top "Ten Tigers of Guangdong" (Wong Yin Lam ), who happened to be a master of Tibetan Lama KF. The original village Hung Kuen style underwent significant changes due to some of the Lama style techniques Wong Fei-Hung learned under Wong Yin Lam.
