Xenoblade Definitive Edition is my favorite game of all time. My 2nd and 3rd favorite games are turn based RPG's Monster Sanctuary and Ruined King. So I highly recommend those to Xenoblade fans that also enjoy turn based games.

Huh, weirdly enough I'm playing through both of those right now. If you liked Ruined King, try Battlechasers Nightwar, made by the same studio. But yeah Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is either my second or third favorite game ever, and that's because I go back and forth on whether or not to count the Golden Sun GBA games as 1 or 2 games, as save data carries over from the first game to the second game. And it's not an insignificant amount of stuff, literally character stats, equipment, and story choices carry over and an entire endgame dungeon, multiple summons, and a few bonus bosses are unlocked.

As you mentionned Chrono Trigger, I would add the Chrono Series (Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross). Especially if you enjoy the rare blades of Xenoblade 2, Chrono Cross has got a large cast too. And Baten Kaitos which has also been developped by Monolith.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1/Definitive Edition is one of my most favorite games of all time. Xenoblade Chronicles got me into JRPGs which is why I still hold it in very high regards. I'll never forget the day I tried out Xenoblade 1 for the first time on my 16th birthday and boy was it one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was really blown away by the story, characters, music and atmosphere. As of now, I've completed every Xenoblade game except for X, Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and Tales of Symphonia. I'm currently playing Persona 5 Royal for the first time on the Nintendo Switch and I'm really enjoying it so far.

I can't express to you how happy I am that you brought up chained echoes! It was easily my game of the year for 2022 and is absolutley incredible! As another reccomendation I'd like to suggest crosscode to people. It's a 2d action rpg with Zelda esq dungeons. It's arguably more Sci fi than what even xenoblade is so a lot of people would probably feel right at home.

I may or may not have clicked on this video specifically to see if CrossCode got mentioned. Worth mentioning is that between various interviews, the game is stated to have taken inspiration in various aspects from across the entire Xeno series.

Ys is also another one that can be considered similar to Xenoblade.

@@JBspherefreak Ys series is developed by Falcom, the same as Trails series. The name is Ys (two letters).

I forgot to say this on discord when you were looking for some suggestions but the games The Last Story and Pandora's Tower I'd say a Xenoblade player would enjoy . For people who don't know they are the other 2 games that got localised along side Xenoblade

I've been playing horizon zero dawn while waiting for the dlc, strongest recommendation. Besides the gameplay just being super fun after you get a hang of it (hey, kinda like xenoblade), the story is phenomenal and makes me feel for the world and characters

Others I'd Recommend that are not on this list Is the Nier Series (Replecant/Gestalt, Automata, Reincarnation) because how deep Nier can get with it's storytelling and the Moble Game Nier Reincarnation Has Similar Gameplay to Xenoblade. Another would be Fire Emblem of course not entirely like Xenoblade but it's another Well known JRPG Series by Nintendo but just a Different Type of role playing game. The last one is going to be very hard to find being Project X Zone on 3DS which is also developed by monolithsoft but pulled out of the eShop before Nintendo announced that it'll be closed by next month making it Extremely difficult to find a Copy of Project X Zone

As of recently, I've been killing time by getting into Namco's Tales series. I've played Tales of Zestiria (thought it was okay), and Tales of Berseria (which was actually kind of incredible), and currently I'm plating Tales of Vesperia (it's good so far).

I tried Tales Of Berseria and thought it was ok but wasn't to keen on the others

I tried to love Trails of Cold Steel. I really did. The battle system and character customization was some of my favorite that I've had the pleasure of playing. But I just could *not* for the life of me continue with the writing. Cold Steel 2 and 3 specifically were just... oof. So, in the opinions of everyone who's played them, is the writing in the other trails games better? If so, which ones do you suggest to play first?

I'm in the same position as you. The writing in these games is just bad. It's full of contrivances and coincidences. I've lost count how many last second saves there were in the games I played. The continuous story seems like a good idea, but it often retroactively ruins previous moments. Like the morally horrible act to justify a war, ending up being the fault of a demon or whatnot. I would describe the games as pretty good ideas, written pretty horribly. Relying on lazy writing techniques, and surface level complexity, that is never explored deeply with a generous sprinkle of pointless fan service and the worst of anime clichés. But because gaming's standards of storytelling are so low, plenty of people hold them up as great stories. Which is fine, everyone can enjoy what they want, but writing wise, they're objectively mediocre at best, and horrible at worst.

I played FF 7 through 10. Very Overrated, or maybe it's just the high expectations

I totally agree with you. Final Fantasy is overrated. The only mainline Final Fantasy that I've enjoyed was 12 for its unique combat system using gambits. I also enjoyed the spin-off World of Final Fantasy, which is a monster collecting game.
