That is because the financial jobs and companies in USA are numerous and vary a lot in numbers and types. In western Europe and Asia Commercial Banks are the main financial institutions for example. I would also like to say they have some of the highest salaries in management and on the other side Corporate Banking in Commercial Banking does a lot of financial analysis and market research regarding the companies that apply for loans there.

Keep on mind Kenji that in Commercial Banks, a huge role plays Corporate Banking who are Credit Analysts that make deep financial analysis regarding and market research about companies that want to take loans in these banks, loans that are up to 100 mil euros . There is also Market Risk analysis, Risk Management, Tresuary Department, Product development, Business Development and Wealth management in Commercial Banks where Financial Researchers , Financial Adivosors and Financial Budgeting come very much into hand.

Hi Kenji! I'm a big fan of your videos. I was wondering if you have any insight into a career path into distressed debt/special situations finance? I've been researching the career paths of people specializing in that particular investing style, and discovered alot of them started off in LevFin or DCM. Can you do an overview of what kind of skills you need for those positions, and how one can potentially lateral into that from say a credit/ER position of perhaps even CorpFin? Thanks

Hi! Yes, LevFin and DCM at an investment bank are typical for getting into special situations (my friend from GS did DCM then Special Situations at GS for instance). I don't think I'll make a video on that tbh, just because it's quite specific and I'm not sure I have enough knowledge on it sorry!

Hi! Yeah maths is one of the common ones. You can always go to the job description of the quant position you want and find the preferred majors there too!
