I have never in 40 years of fish buying been asked anything about my tank by a shop selling me fish.

I’ll try and make it my next video. I don’t think so locally but you might for overseas.

I don't ever recall anybody just asking me about my water parameters and size of tank that I have prior to purchasing a new fish.

I wish more fish stores were like this . Most of them just want to sell their stuff

Cycle takes upto 6 weeks sometimes 3 months

I'd add a 6th - GH and KH. I would have saved myself a lot of heartache if I'd understood the affect water hardness has on your choice of fish. 😊 I'm sharing this on Twitter now. 👍

This is true once a fish shop even told me to sign some papers I was like really it was Petco or petsmart one of those 2 crazy .

Great video. I wish there were more reputable fish shops in the world- the many I've dealt with on two continents don't care too much about what happens to the fish once they're sold. I've never once been asked about water parameters (or even been educated by the staff on what healthy parameters look like!) nor have I ever been asked about the size, age, or stocking of my aquarium, even when I went in specifically looking for advice. I learned all I know through trial and error (and nowadays, the Internet). If I found a fish shop that asked about the things you mentioned here, they would have my custom for life!

Education and research are the key. It’s a shame more don’t ask these questions. And yes not all these questions will be asked but it would be good if they at least ask one of these and that that customer can answer with ease :)

@@SimplyShrimps I totally agree! I've been keeping fish since the 80s when my LFS in the US happily sold me a pair of angelfish to live with my three goldfish- in a 10 gallon tank! Luckily that was an especially awful example that I don't think would happen now. I've learned so much since then, but I regret all the fish I killed through ignorance.

One day i went to a pet center who had an aquarium to buy some neon tetras (Favorite fish btw) and i remember i ask the veterinarian what PH does he has on the neons aquarium and he said "What is PH?".... that's why i dont trust any fish store whatsoever lol

I do find some LFS don’t know about parameter... ph ammonia temp And I always lie about how many fish I have LOL but the fish guys at the shop who know me. They know the true fish load.

Good video I have a chiclid mbuna tank it is a 120 litre tank my ammonia is 0 my nitrite are 0 and my nitrates are bout 20 I have 6 demonsoni in there currently do you know the exact amount or roughly you can advise me on please I can have looking at gettin another 5 more this week to calm the aggression down will it be ok to have 11 demonsoni in a 120 litre tank? Although your water parameters are good I’m not sure as Malawi’s aren’t my specialty. Though 11 in 120L seems like quite a lot 😱

6 Oscars please. Water parameters!? I've Been keeping fish for 40 years I know what I'm doing. No I won't tell you my tank size. I've been keeping fish since before you were born. How dare you, just get the fish. You won't sell me any. I can't believe it, this place has really gone down hill *storms out and leaves bad google review*
