Most people I know use Epsom salts to soak our horse's feet when any foot is warm to touch and shows bruising. More than likely there's an abscess brewing and the Epsom salts helps to draw out infections.

Like a hot tube, set to 100 degrees F, when turn turned up to 102 degrees F, it feels extra hot and uncomfortable. Remember, 98.6 degrees F is normal body temp and high temperatures will always flow from an area of high energy to areas of low temperature. So, it heats the feet & body first for a long time, as the water is a good conductor and cools to the air around it, even if A/C or Heat is set to 78-68 degrees F. It enters the feet first, opens the blood vessels that allows warmer than normal blood to flow up into the torso. It cools the the air around it but that takes time depending on the temp, volume and external air temp contact on how fast it cools. 100 degrees F is best overall contact. As it cools over ten - 15 minutes, it begins to feel to cold. That is your sign it is time to stop. Don't forget to start without a towel to step on. Tile is slick when wet, so avoid accidents. Use a nylon scuff pad to clean heels and feet from dead skin cells. You shed 100,000 cells per hour. This is how blood hounds track people even in a slight breeze. Otherwise they are funneled down onto our feet and gather. This is the loose crusty stuff found on you feet. A gentle rubbing will get rid of them. DK, ASE master tech since 78, retired.

I doubt that you can get too much Epsom salts in a foot bath or bath tub. Simply because when you float in sensory deprivation tank there is approx 1/2 ton of Epsom salts dissolved in the tub. So much that you can’t sink. Like the Dead Sea salty. My skin is always silky smooth after N hour soak in such a tub. The temperature is just warm enough to maintain body temperature.

I really need some advice here. I have had some Varicose vein treatments lately for my legs, calf's. I noticed one day a big blister on my heel, below the ankle part of the heel. Then a week later I got a long / are several blisters on the outside part of my heel below the ankle. They are clear and filled with a clear liquid. Then last night I got a sharp pain like a needle sticking in my foot and it was a big blister below my ankle. They all have a clear liquid, but after popping, they seem to drain a clearish blood and water-type liquid. What is going on here, I am scared.

Call your doctor and get an appointment. I would carefully wash the blisters with soap and water, rinse, pat dry. Cover with a bandage and antibiotic ointment. Do not pop them because that increases the chance for infection. I have had sepsis twice .... once from a bug bite on my toe on the beach, and once from a blister that popped on it's own before I could attend to it it. One blister that did not pop was treated with the antibiotic oinment and covered while still intact.... the body took care of it and healed it within 24-48 hours. The skin reabsorbed the fluid in the blister on it's own. I would also go back to the vein doctors to be checked.

John, Go see your doctor. Whenever you have procedures done on your body, always ask the doctor or nurse, what to expect this way you will be less stressed when you see post procedure reactions. Also ask what to do, and how to care for the site/wound. Write it down. Often they don't tell you unless you ask. Feel better, good health and healing to you

Recently had a toenail removed. Supposed to soak 15 minutes 2/day. Lukewarm water. Add epsom salt, 1 tbsp per gallon of water. Is that enough salt?

1 table spoon to a bottle of water? What would be helpful would be to define the volume of water to begin with, give people a ratio to work with.
