My denim "care" Write the date you buy them on the inside pocket. Wear them for year as much as you want. Hang them up to air out in the sun after every wear and you'll have no problems with smell. Now a year has passed (you know this because you check the date you wrote). Before you wash them, inspect them. Look at the crotch, pockets and legs for any tears or holes that might need to be patched. If you don't see anything, run the jeans over bright light in areas where there is alot of wear or the denim has faded the most. If the light shines through easily or there's a hole the light pokes through, you know those areas need to be fixed. If the denim is worn out or damaged, take it to a tailor to have them fixed. Do not wash them, it will only make the damage worse than it already is. Now, if your jeans are in good condition you can start washing. Turn them inside out, set the washer to cold, gentle cycle and add only in a little detergent (we're only washing one pair of jeans). Once the wash stops, get them out of there immediately. Turn them right side out and flatten any creases you see with your hands only. Hang them up on a hanger unbuttoned in your bathroom to air dry. I have jeans from the 70's that I have kept going for 50 years using this method.

Fabric softener, softens the fabric and makes it thin out. Where do you think the lint comes from in the filter of your dryer? The fabric fibers break off from the clothes when washing and drying and get thin or worn out, putting softeners speeds up this process. So putting too much softener is actually a bad thing.

Gilberto Flores well if you think about it. Your body sweats throughout the day even if you are not active or working in an office. That bacteria builds up on your clothes. You may not smell it simply because your used to your smell but it can smell. If you hold the clothes against your nose and breath deeply, you can smell it. That is my personal opinion. In addition, I am stating that a psychopath is ruining my clothes including my jeans by cutting them up ! I have yet to catch this lunatic !
