I had my jeans repaired like that by a family friend years ago, I remember talking about it with Americans and they didn't understand why would anyone repair a pair of jeans... Well, it was in a time I was making the equivalent of 85 cents per hour and here the jeans would cost me what I made in a week. I still have them. It's awesome that people still do this.

I always repair my jeans because it's not easy finding the right style that I like anymore. Even as a teenager I prepare my own jeans because it was cheaper then buying a new pair. Back then I would use crazy patterns the patch of my jeans kind of making my own style kind of like getting a new pair of pants. Best part was the material I would use was my younger brother's p.j. pants that he outgrew so I was recycling his pants to make my new pants 😊

Beautiful job! This is the first tutorial I've seen that doesn't use darning. I couldn't use that method since the hole is too big and wide. And I have another pair I can use to patch the hole on my favourite jeans! Thank you Warning: this takes FOREVER. You have to do really tiny stitches so that it's secure. I think it took me 4 hours on just one patch, but I'm also really slow at needlework. If you have a patch with the right colour and the right colour thread, it literally blends in seamlessly, so the time is so worth it

This art of repairing something with so much love is so fascinating to me. I love this! I wish I'd seen this last year. I had a paid of Levi's which tore just like in the thumbnail. I wasn't working a plow, or riding a horse or operating heavy machinery... I was putting up a curtain pole! I contacted Levi's who would investigate the matter, but they needed the receipt of purchase. Two years after the event you would expect Levi's to still do the job without the need to hold onto an ancient receipt. Great video.

@dove3853 jesus wouldn't also try and force religion onto someone else, no one died on a cross for anyone or atleast in mine or your families life time and the worst of all giving credit to someone who didn't do jack shit for you or me, read an article the other day of a young couple who built themselves a home just by themselves with no outside help and the last comment they made' "we thank God for giving us this house". Its sad but the the good thing is, Christianity is on the verge of collapse die to more and more people waking up to the bs the bible says. Somethings may of happened yes, the great flood, but we also know about tsunamis. The sea splitting in half for moses, we also know about tides going in and out and that many places/beaches split into 2 when the tides out, falling angels 🤣🤣 we also know about meteor showers, comets, asteroids and space debris. Why is there also parts of the bible that has been banned and removed that go further into detail about events that happen in the bible but with a more mundane explanations. The story about noah and the ark is a lie, the closest you could make me believe is that the flood was to wipe out giants that were hybrids, half human and half angel. And 'god' used the flood to destroy the abominations which is also explained in a banned/removed part of the bible. You could put the whole of the avengers movies and storylines into 1 book and you would tell me its not fiction but yet swear blind the bible is the truth with no direct proof but just pure faith

Neat work and stitching. Thanks for that tutorial!
I don't repair all my jeans but I got 2 or 3 old pairs I like to fix from time to time. Your patching is flawless. Great job. I'll remember that. Edit: Not all people watching this know the Self-Adhesive Linen (I guess its linen ?) fabric patch you use at 6:00 . These self-adhesive patches are fantastic for a lot of things.

This is very useful for us those who have fat thighs, and end up having hole in the jeans between the legs. Thank you for this video on how to repair them. I'm following you for more! Keep up the good work.

IKR - I get jealous of the people that say "I have had these jeans for 20 years" while mine don't make it 1 year because of my disproportionally large thighs making my jeans look like the ones in the video.

Nice job, we've been repairing jeans like that for years and years.
Bravo, vous êtes génial ! c'est une excellente idée ! Merci , je vais appliquer cette méthode !
The sharpness of your scissors is so satisfying to watch. Really the whole video was fun to watch!❤️
Outstanding repair. For anyone out there that says they can't sew (I can) it is possible to stick patches on with contact/impact adhesive. Been using it in industry for years and patching clothes for as long. It is certainly quick in an emergency and they don't come off in the washing. Sewing is an easy skill to learn but adhesive could get you in the repair mind set.

@@phastinemoon hi Sam, did answer this once but seems to have got lost, Basically any hardware store or Amazon. It's the type of glue you put on both surfaces and let it dry. It bonds on contact. In UK = Evostick Germany = Pattex Holland = Bison kontact In the US you would have to do a bit of research.

I do this repair frequently but I use my sewing machine on the mending setting to attach a matching fabric on the inside...excellent results and a lot easier.

On the inside is going t rub a lot more, and chafing in that area is 👎🏼. Also, I’m pretty sure a sewing machine isn’t getting the nearly visible results of this person’s handsewing.

This is great! When you find an article of clothing that is so comfortable, it breaks your heart when it starts wearing out - especially if you're difficult to fit. This gives me hope to be able to keep some of my things. Now, if I can just find someone who can execute this.

All of this is a lost art. I got lucky and was born into a family with a very gifted grandmother who taught me as much as she could before she passed, but even that little bit was enough to spark a lifelong live of crafting, knitting, sewing, etc. I've been the best at hand sewing in every costume shop I've worked in. Got to the point they would just save all of that for me lol. In middle school I was better at it than my home economics teacher. She yelled at me for machine stitching something that was supposed to be hand sewn.... that good. And why? My grandmother. Hand sewing was the first lesson she ever taught me. My first thought when something doesn't fit quite right or breaks is, can I fix this? But that's all because of my grandma instilling that love in me young. Not everyone is so lucky. Which is a shame. Have to remember that. I am happy to see more thrift stores showing up though, and not just the vintage kind (though i LOVE them). There was almost a bit of stigma with them and secondhand clothing. Glad to see it's going away. It's also worth noting that many companies don't make clothing (and other things, like houses) like they used to. Most things are not made to last anymore, which is part of the problem. The other side of my family specializes in historic restoration, so I could rant all day about modern construction too. Yes, modernize, but don't ignore parts of that past that worked. There is a big reason many historic buildings stand while these giant plastic houses start falling apart within 10 years. We've seen it happen MANY times. Plus there's the beauty history holds. From clothing to bridges to furniture. Even purely functional things were made beautifully. Take a look a flossing on old corsets, for example. Fictional, but beautiful. Anyway, Sorry for the rant. I agree things should be fixed, but it's just not what's taught anymore. Can't blame people for doing what they know, I guess. It's just a shame that's the way it is. But that's why videos like this that help to educate are awesome.
