    You did a great job on the repairs. I love that you fixed the garments instead of throwing them away. Many people are wasteful when it comes to clothing and such. They dont realize how many resources are used to make clothing. I repair my clothing many times. Clothing that can not be repaired can often be repurposed into quilts or rag rugs or cleaning cloths. Or made into another garment. My mothers friend would makeover adult clothes into clothes for her children.

    Brilliant work! 🎉❤ I have my Great Nana’s darning tools, made of wood from the 1800’s, to fix socks and knitted slippers. I’ve used them and these tricks from a young age, at 52 I have been able to make things last. We pay far too much for what we have to throw it away just because of a bit of wear and tear. I taught my husband and kids how to fix things as well. It’s fabulous to not have to go to a seamstress to have shoes, handbags, clothes, coats…fixed.

    As to the comment I read about darning and mending ...my grandmother still did that as well as made clothes on an old Singer sewing machine the ones that used to be built in the table ..... I still mend clothes and darn socks as well as mending clothes for my family.... I also stitch up the toys that might get a little torn.... We pass things down through the generations I have also mended toys and other items to donate to the less fortunate.... Some of my methods I'm sewing our little unconventional but I make do with what I have and think outside the box..... Just last week my middle daughter brought home a stuffed snake plushie that her teacher had in the classroom the students destroyed it and she brought it home and told the teacher my mom will make it new again... It was worse than what a dog would do to a toy.... But I got it fixed. And made my own stuffing to re-stuff what was lost in the poor toy and made it good as new.... She took it to school the next day and the teacher was very happy and surprised.... I guess I'll be mending more toys in the future as well as clothes.... So long as my eyesight doesn't get worse.... My eldest daughter did try sewing with her bad nerves and arthritis and nerve damage in our hands it's not possible for her I don't mind when she gives me the items to fix it's something I love to do.... Using my extra time productively.... I cannot count how many times I've found toys or garments on the street wash them up very well then fix them if they needed to be fixed and donate them..... It's better then throwing away good items that can be reused or reworn .... I also know how to crochet which was a challenge since I am left-handed.... Oh as to the first mending the lady was doing in the video most people would not want to lose a pocket over a hole in their jacket and either iron on a patch or as I seen some embroider I design over the hole like it never was there.... Pockets in my opinion are extremely important..... I am a very unique way I've created on how to do stitching where you don't see it... I call it my inside out stitch.....

    Most people wouldn't take the time to do this 'darning'. The older generation would throw the garment away and buy new, and the younger generation would wear it as is, 'holes and all'. Your 🎶 selection topped it off and was gratifying. Nice job!

  • @CruzSanchezRipa

    @CruzSanchezRipa

    It depends on the generation, and the economic level of the person involved. I am 50. Unless the mending is unnoticeable, I wouldn't use the garment outside home. I have the habit of using old clothes at home, and better clothes to go out. Clothes with noticeable mending would be used at home, if appropriate for it; and another of these kind, if I have enough, would go to the new step in processing: rags to clean or to mend, or, if there are possibilities of recycling into something else, I would do something else. I have a problem only with footwear. I am very delicate with my feet, and mending would be less of a possibility, and the bin, much more. But this is luxury for some people, I know, and I try to buy only what I need. Not that I feel that it is my obligation, but I remember things, and try to be conscientious.

    @@chinag9978 Ya, yo tengo el pequeñito de un pié con muy mala baba. Le hago de todo, además de llevar la uña al ras, para no romperlos. El problema es que a mí me salen ampollas con el más mínimo roce, y no las soporto. De ahí que me gasto bien el dinero en zapatos de buen material, y que se ajusten a mis exigencias, y que me duren mucho. De momento, estoy teniendo mucha suerte. Pero mi dinerillo me cuesta. No tengo ni muchos, ni son de precios astronómicos, porque ni me los puedo permitir, ni si pudiera, lo haría. Pero me aseguro de que sean suficientemente buenos y ajustados a mis necesidades físicas, que son unas cuantas. Y siempre, hasta la fecha, de piel.

    If I 6 patch it with a pretty patch or embroid it with my machine, it goes to my husband, where it becomes a rag in his workshop. He is always grateful for it. Old towels become floor rags in my house as do drying cloths(tea towels), and garments in a good condition will either be gifted or I will try to make something out of it. I can't get it over my heart to just chuck it in the bin.

    My mother has a 10x15 foot bedroom as a wardrobe and shoe and accessories closet.... She always looks like a fashion model. I have no idea where she got her talents from. Certainly not her parents (my maternal grandparents). She didn't graduate from high school because she got pregnant and in the 1950s that was a dream killer. I swear she's more talented than Martha Stewart, Joanna Gaines and Rembrandt and Tiffany combined because there is literally nothing she can't do or make ALL by herself. I've sat and watched her and attempted to do 1/10th of what she does in a day/evening and it exhausts me... and she's 82!!! God bless her. MoM of you read this (I know she watches this channel occasionally) I love you 😍 💗

    Thank you for sharing your talent! I watched every second and loved how you repair on the showing part, I was taught to sew underneath and then when you get done, you turn it inside out and 'look to see what you did to the front' and after watching you sew---the way I was taught seems mighty dumb! I am anxious to tackle my sewing pile now! Thanks!

    These repairs are amazing, and you are very talented for sure, BUT I personally feel like if a shoe is already in that state, it is better to throw it away. Usually the bottom of shoes lose their grip over time and the surface becomes flat. It is dangerous especially in rainy weather or on tile-like surfaces. I learned it the hard way unfortunately… 🥺

Genial volver a la época de la recuperación y los arreglos.
