Full COVERAGE … or full COVER tips? I’m going with full COVERAGE, I seriously struggled with what word to go for this video topic (lol). I see more ‘full cover’, but I think ‘full coverage’ is the more appropriate word. I don’t know! Help a girl out!
Ok enough, in today’s video we’ll be exploring 5 common mistakes nail stylists make when adhering full coverage tips with gel. Now there are different ways to adhere these tips... like with polygel and glue, but I’m going to keep true to what I do in this channel, and talk about this issue as it pertains to gel. If you want to see the polygel method, comment below, and if we get enough buzz I’ll go ahead and do it for you.
If you would like to see a written version of this topic, read the blog here:

I just watched this out of curiosity. When I first saw full coverage tips being used... I was like "oh... I been doing that since gel was invented." I got full cover tips long ago that I'd stick on with sticky pads & when gel came around I'd stick them on with gel if I wanted them on for 3+ weeks. I didn't even file the insides. I'd adhere them with that rubber base gel & do a thin layer of acrylic for hardness & then a design. Never had lifting, maybe by week 4 I'd get some cracking on the edges (because I was working in a bar) but man, it was such a nail hack! Nobody knew they were fake. Now they're making gel full cover tips & special gel to adhere it. I didn't even do all that. Main thing is to not have air bubbles... As long as you get it on proper fit & adhered, you're good.

I adhere my full coverage tips with acrylic. No light is required; light pressure and a minute to dry. Adhesion is great; they last for weeks. It also helps when I design the nails before applying to my nail beds. Very little acrylic overlap to the side walls or elsewhere. I take them off by filing through the tips and soaking in acetone in a hot water soak bowl.

  • @ellenlevenson7831

    Жыл бұрын

@@kimberlycruz9193 You can't use dip powder as you would acrylic because it's a hybid that can't be used with monomer. You can use acrylic like dip powder provided you use the same method as for dip powder. I don't see a way, therefore, to use dip powder under a full-cover nail. You can use dip powder to cover a nail tip that you glued to your free edge. You'll need to cover the free edge first and then proceed with the rest of the dip procedure.

I came across this tutorial and gave one of your recommendations a try. I purchased the Give Me Tip. They are just a bit more pricey than other brands, but worth it! I'm experimenting with pre-etched full cover tips before I use on my clients but they're unreliable on plastic nails, regardless of prep (nothing sticks like it does to a real nail plate as you know!). I'm worried that the etching isn't as "roughed up" as I can achieve with my large ball bit, but I'd also like to save some time in my nail service. Do they work for you and if so, how long does a set last for your clients? I otherwise love this method and use it as my primary extension service.

I am so glad I decided to search "fitting full cover tips" and ended back at square one. I am making myself rewatch this one more time before I apply. Pointing the finger down I think would have helped my particular situation. I was so uses to doing press ons and yep, no good. So, once again, thank you!! I really do need to slow down. PS. If I get a bubble, I use the nail drill to gently drill open the spot where the bubble is, then fill with builder gel. That way, no lifting. If it's a big bubble, take off nail tip and start over. For better adhesion, prep nail plate and cuticles well and use clear acrylic instead of builder gel. Long hair pretty nails has a recent video demonstrating this.

Make sure you press out the air from cuticle to tip. Hold the top, cure the lower half and once it holds (about 10-15 seconds depending on lamp) you can let go of the top. They also have clear clamps now. I prefer to use my finger to hold in place tho, so you can know you got it air tight. Must have is a lamp with no bottom! Great video. Does anyone know of a brand of full cover tips that are narrow with a strong c curve? Most of the ones I've tried don't have a strong enough c curve for my nature nail And aren't narrow enough for my pinky. Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already, try looking into Apres's "sculpted" nail tips - they are designed for those with curved nail beds and I know their pinky nail sizes are small (I have narrow nail beds and I'm a size 8 for pinkies)

You can do either. Depending on your preference. I do 2-3mm away and fill the rest with BIAB.

Need to know how to do this on self as there are so many problems when you’re trying to do this with only one hand. Mine end up crooked as I can’t see through my hand. Also, no matter what I use, it's like my nails are so hot everything turns into a free flowing liquid that cannot be controlled. I keep trying different products & methods… but I just can’t seem to get anything to work without a struggle & at least 2 nails crooked. I'm starting to think there is no solution for me. And don’t get me started on polygel… it melts SO fast on my nails and I end up stuck to everything.

Thank you so much for the tips! 😍🥰🤍 The biggest problem I have when I apply the tips to myself is to get them on straight. All of my fingers are crooked more or less, some of them are very crooked. So it's super hard to apply the tips straight, I think it looks wrong no matter how I angle them 😅 it can look straight if I have my nails facing me (you know how we usually look at our own nails, or when we do our own nails) but if I turn the hand so that my nails are facing away from me it looks crooked 😫😅 Soo frustrating! And if I try to fix it by counteracting the direction my fingers are pointing with the direction of the tips it just looks even worse😫😂 Haha I'm sorry for my bad explaining, I hope you get what I mean anyway 🙈😅🌸

The correct way of getting the nail straight is to look at them when your fingers face away. You need to align the center of the nail with the bones of your fingers.

I have trouble with holding down the tip and curing at the same time under the lamp. And if you are covering the tip with your finger to hold it down, how does the LED light get through your finger to cure the gel and tip???🤔 Thanks, friends!

You need to search for Soft Gel Full Cover. The thing is on Amazon there are A LOT of sellers saying their tips are Soft Gel, but they are not. They do sell Apres Gel X tips and Diami Canoe brand and as of today those are the only legit ones I have found, the rest are just rebranded regular ABS plastic full cover. I will note the prices are higher, if you are able, some sites to check out if you are a DIYet like myself are off the top of my head are Zillabeau, Nail Labo, Apres Nails, Enailcouture. Kiara Sky. I bought the tips she uses in this video in medium coffin from Zillabeau and had great customer service. So the key word is "soft gel extensions and/or full cover tips.". If you use Facebook, there are several groups dedicated to this particular kind of nail. Hope this helps!

Does any one have an issue with the tips curling around the cuticle when they start to grow out? I use natural so I don’t think it’s the c-curve and I prep the nail very well with buffing and getting rid of cuticles. Looking for a solution and can’t find anyone else experiencing this. I file along the cuticle area and prep, prime, base coat and the apply Gel to the grown out area. You don't have to soak off the nail tip, just blend new gel into the 'old' gel.
