Sheesh. That might actually be worse than death.

I personally felt that Ace's death was one of the most emotional ones in the show. It wasn't bombastic or a duel to the death, it was just a scared little girl who didn't want to die. It also showed how Batman can be very sympathetic and actually tries to help the villains with their problems, unlike today's Batman that tends to beat them within an inch of their life

JourneyVids isn’t that just any radical extremist group or terrorist? They are just manipulated radicalized children who grow up. Ace is objectively a villain, but a sympathetic one. She is a victim yes, but also a villain.

Well Arnold Wesker is specifically tied to his puppet Scarface. That’s basically his other half, his evil side if you will. So since Scarface is the evil of “Ventriloquist”, lobotomize him, you take out Wesker as well. Honestly for Wesker that’s probably a smart way to “cure” him.

9:46 it actually takes them to the Source Wall (where Metron took Lex to get the Anti-Life Equation) and eventually in continuity Lex and Darkseid work together to get back to their own planets. So they did survive in the end

Terminator 156 I heard/read the same thing. You have to admire Lex Luthor if that’s true. He MUST have known what would happen to him and he went willingly, KNOWING he would be in agony for eternity. He was so calm and in control of himself as he closed his hand over Darkseid’s..

the justice lords are what inspired the injustice universe after all. You know if you think about it Batman technically breaks his no-kill rule in secret Origins because he punches the Invaders In to direct sunlight killing them, instantly technically this does fall under wartime scenario

Surprised you didn’t mention that Hawkgirl was comforting Grundy before she killed him, notice how he was calm and listening to her. Basically this tells me that he still had his old mind somewhere deep inside.

Agreed the writing and animation of this show still holds and I love it

One thing that really great about the Justice League Unlimited show is they didn't focus only on the original Justice League member but the other heroes and supervillain too. Looking back at it I feel really grateful growing up on that period of time cause you rarely find any superheroes genre that depict so much character development like that show

Grundy 2nd and 3rd death had me in tears 😭 man couldn't rest in peace

Supergirl killing her age-advanced clone by electrocution in the Watchtower's reactor room always sticks in my head. Superman would never have done that.

I wish Tala the sorceress was mentioned, she was a fun villain and her death is pretty tragic.

Superman has, "crossed the line," before and still stayed a hero. In Superman 2 with Chris Reeve, he killed Zod and friends and he killed the necular man in Superman 4 yet he didn't become a power-mad tyrant.

JLU will always be one of DCs greatest animated series.

A little known trivia fact: If you watch that final episode of JLU, take a close look at the source wall. The animators included Galactus. Bonus fact. And at the very end of the episode, it shows some of the heroes taking off to go after the villains. If I remember correctly they go out in like groups of 5 or 6. Each representing a specific roster of the Justice League from the comics.

Apparently dying in the vacuum of space isn’t that quick, depending on where in space you are, it can take up to 2 or 3 minutes to die… but it will be unimaginably painful no matter where you are. Random not-so-fun fact. 😅

Excellent list, while the jokers death is the most impactful he doesn’t die in this show. I always liked vandal savages technical death since we never see him again, he basically fades out of existence content with his redemption.

Technically a part of Brainiac stayed alive, which became the "hallucinations" Lex Luthor began having in his obsession to bond with Brainiac again. I like to think Brainiac only truly died when Darkseid was brought back

According to former writer Dwyane McDuffie (rest his soul), Darkseid and Luthor have become part of the source wall. Its also confirmed in the DCAU website as well when finding the future of Luthor, Darkseid and the Anti Life Equation.

As far as darkseid goes, he does die in the deceased comics. He does get the anti-life equation but it proved too powerful for him to control, thus turning him in to a zombie which is revealed later in the comic. Only a small handful of heroes and villains, poison ivy being one of the survivors, take the group to am island in the middle of nowhere where it is protected by Ivy's plants and Zatana's magic. I was heartbroken to see that Cheetah died at the living dead hands of her nemesis, Zombie Wonder Woman.

Hawkwoman is actually Hawkgirl in Justice League's continuity.

for me ace and grundy being revived were the most painful. Ace for her lost childhood and sadness, and grundy for, after being free, he was revived only to be killed in a painful way.

Regarding dark seid, the writers mentioned that there was a deleted scene showing him and luthor becoming a part of the source wall but they didn't have time to include it

If going with only the animation, then yes, Darkside is "dead". However if going through comics, the Darkseid we see is merely an avatar of his true self. An immortal God that can literally rewrite anything he wants.

Killer frost didn't necessarily kill those guys, just froze them and they died later due to Darkside. In the episode that takes place in the future with batman beyond Parasite is seen amung the villains, so we know he lived at least somehow

Previous episodes had people frozen in ice and they would just break it or thaw them out and they would be fine. Even Grodd could come back. We saw him go out into space but not actually die. They've brought characters back who have suffered worse and Grundy is dead, dies and comes back all the time. It is kind of his thing.

I think that Luthor and Darkseid ended up stuck on the Source Wall instead of dying. I can't remember where exactly I heard this, but in the DCAU the anti-life equation is sentient, and will only allow those it deems worthy to use it. Should a person who is unworthy attempt to utilize its power, it sends them to the Source Wall where they are fused into it.

I suppose the other villains not seen in the episode with the Killer Frost murders and Grodd’s death are dead too either from the mutiny or when Darkseid blew up the Hall of Doom including The Dummy and the Shark.

This show was way better than most kids shows I wish animated shows had this complexity and level of story telling more often

‘Kills’ is kinda a strong way to put what Frost did. Unless they die Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay style, they’re just frozen in place like we saw Clayface survive perfectly fine back in Justice League
