UPDATE: I changed my name from TheDeDecker to AutoMotivate. Sorry for the video fitment. Also, on the Toyota Celica, I noticed the Rack and Pinions were out. Not something safe to drive, however, there were other Celicas for this price when i was looking them up.

I’d say the Celica is the way to go. I just bought my 2002 Mustang GT with 150k miles for $2900. I got it so cheap because the pain is very bad and the engine has a small leak. Overall, it has been very reliable.

Which did you buy?

I'm all for cheap cars, been driving them most of my life, but let me let you in on the big secret. Avoid the popular cars. Look at what kind of cars are lasting a long time (Over 250k miles.) but might have a few issues like a failed transmission or some other problem you can live with or rectify on the cheap. Think about cars that grandma and grandpa drive. Often you can find these that have been garaged, driven kindly and had regular service. As an example, if you found a Crown Vic with 150k miles and a bad trans, a trip to pick and pull and you can get a replacement trans on the cheap and probably have yourself a good ride for a 100k or more miles. The transmission R&R is pretty easy and if you need help often you can get the help if you buy the beer. Ugly cars also afford a cheap opportunity. Avoid imports, especially exotics.

I own a golf mk3 gti it is the same as the cabrio just a non cabrio version as of reliability its amazing only thing i should look at is rust buildup as far of the rest its fun and cheap to drive it The mk3 golf is imo also more relailible than a cabrio

I have a 1998 for 400$! Still running and it's been a year and it has 300,000 miles .

I found a VW cabrio GLS trim on CL for 600 bucks- leather interior, power windows, power mirrors, alloy wheels. 131K miles, presumably only needs a battery- is it an okay car to learn manual in?

When I made the video, I saw a lot for sale! And they were all running and driving.

I used to almost always buy cars for under $600 and most of the time they were reliable and lasted, 2 that didn't last 2 full months were both Chrysler LHS 1997 and the other was an identical 1994 chrysler new yorker allegedly had been a police interceptor and had performance tune and the last owner had had it for 19 years, it had 162k, after 2 months it stopped running and I couldn't get jt fixed because I can't find a replacement Body control module anywhere its too bad I didn't keep the first LHS that blew the engine

Do you have any suggestions on best cars to live as mobile home? (Probably not sedans)

I’m actually prepping to make a video about the best conversion vans in next couple weeks. 🤔 I have a friend who wants me to help her convert her 04 CRV to have a bed and storage in the back. But, for me, that would be to cramped. Even a box truck would be a good idea. You could cut a hole from the box truck to the cabin, as well.

Mk3 golf, a great car until you put a vr6 in one. i had a vr6, the car was perfect in every other way except the engine, it sounded great but thats about where it stopped. unreliable, coolant leaks, oil leaks, weird knocking sounds, oil mixed in coolant, coolant mixed in oil etc.

I got a 99 celica I got is for 1k it was pretty clean tbh those cars are really hard to find nowadays and when i find one they are really beat up or already really ran through and when i find a decent or r eww ally clean one they always want over 3k

I had a Ford escort. It gave me so much trouble

Howard Kerr I find them pretty often. Decent drivers that will get you to point A to paying B. You just have to look. Don’t expect them to have perfect interior and paint.

@@AutoMotivate I wouldn't go over 50mph on any one before a thorough inspection. That being said, if the Escort is actually sound mechanically and has at least a 1 month warranty, I'd be happy to haggle it down to $500 and spend $500 more to make it as good as possible. The Mirage seemed really clean. You are lucky to live in the usa, cars are cheap and taxes are... not terrible.
