Great video! I can't tell you how number 3 has been an issue for me enough! I get headaches if I don't get enough calories.

Thanks Dan! Headaches are the last thing you want in the outdoors! I get really grumpy if I miss my calories. Like a petulant child. 😆

Love the creativeness of your channel Thom, always very entertaining:-) Great tips, I definitely need to take your advice on tip one, but I think that's easier said than done when you are doing the youtube thing! The amount of gadgets, tripods, batteries I'm sure doubles the weight of my rucksack, I also recently ditched by super lightweight Optimus Crus lite and have went back to my Trangia 27 which I have not used in years which is not helping! I know it weighs ton, and I just pimped it up with the multi disc and the wool cover to make it even heavier, but I just love it, maybe it's just a nostalgic hankering to get back to my youth when I used it for duke of Ed! Looking forward to the podcast, will be tuning in for that! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! Stairs 🤣

Thanks mate. I never mind a heavy pack. For me it’s more size of pack. I gave up on shaving grams when I took out my camera, batteries, spare lens, sd cards, tripod, mics. Etc etc etc!!! I feel your pain but for me it all comes worthwhile in the edit.

Hi ,new subscriber here. On your fuel supply section , I've changed to a firebox wood burning stove . This precludes carrying fuel . Great video ,thanks .

Hi David, thanks for subscribing and WELCOME! I am very intrigued by those stoves as most of my hiking is done in an area where fuel is sparse and in many places they’re being banned. A lot of people swear by them though!

I prefer taking 500ml of meths in the container I buy it in. Its lighter and obviously cheaper than the trangia dispenser. The advantage of he trick stopper is negated with having to decant the stuff in the first place. I've never had one leak or smell but should it ,a replacement is only a few cooks away.
