Will the sealer or extender also make it easier to blend acrylic paint as you go--sort of the wet on wet technique? bytheway: LOVE your videos!!! You are one of the best instructors on utube!!! Thank youso much for sharing information with us novices.
Resin is liquid glass , floetrol is what you mix your acrylic paint to thin it , just like pva glue .Resin just give it a glossy finish touch.
k about the alcohol and water in one jar and soapy water is genius.I've been painting on and off for 50yrs. and ashamed I didn't know that
Thank you very much for your very valuable lessons. Would it work if I cover dry acrylic painting with your mix #5?
I'm in the US. Is Elmer's Glue-all PVA glue?
Enjoyed that. Thanks! Can you think of a way that i can convert excess water colour paints into acrylic? Tried pa
thanks
Nice one! Cheap ModPodge! Brilliant! And the gesso, superb. Thanks Clive. Presume you can store these in good plastic bottles? Similar shelf life to the shop bought forms?
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
Yup same stuff same shelf life but make your own and you can make just what you want at any time
Thank u
Great work! However Isn't there a risk that the modelling paste may crack? Would you say that once it's mixed with acrylic paint that the mix is of archival quality?
Hi Clive, love your videos and you give so much good information too. I have a question for you, I have a printed picture on photographic paper and would like to put it onto a MDF board. Can I use the PVA glue to stick it to the board or is there something else I should use. Thanks, Jayne
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
That should work not tried it personally
Thanks for the info. Will the PVA when used as a clear base, start to yellow over time?
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
No it won’t as it’s a water based product only oil based products tend to yellow. this is the same stuff as all the main manufacturers use if unsure just read their technical data sheets
Will start again. Can you think of any way to convert watercolour into acrylic paint. Tried adding it to PVA glue, (may have used too much watercolour,). Do you think adding calcium carbonate would be helpful? ( bought 10 pounds of watercolour from estate sale on eBay as there were Daniel Smith and Winsor Newton that more than paid for the cost. So now I have pounds left.
HI Clive! Regarding your first tip for using PVA glue as a sealer, do you need to add gesso on top of the sealer??
@CLIVE5ART
4 жыл бұрын
Only if you want a grip for the paint
The icards are not showing up for me. Is there another place to find the recipes? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!💜

What exactly does PVA STAND FOR? I’ve hear it called several different things. Man, I wish I had found this channel and Clive a long time ago. Ah, you just said it, it’s ACITATE.
Hi Clive ,is there any trick to make Polyurethane rust oleum. And what's the big deal of this. Difference between other glaze. Thanks
I made the gesso and it hardened into a blob. Not sure what I did wrong but I’ll keep trying.
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
You used too much chalk or what ever you used if it was plaster of Paris that could be the problem
@richardlumpkin4607
5 жыл бұрын
CLIVE5ART I used a combination of talk and cornstarch. I followed prescribed measurements. Obviously I messed up somewhere. I would like to try again but messing up gets expensive. I have used mdf for many smaller platforms. Ended up sealing it with the liquid left from the blob. Worked well for me. Always love your Money saving ideas. They are great for us artists on a budget. Very thankful!
Great video thank you. Can you thin it and spray it through an airbrush for making translucent paint colors? Didn’t know if you have tried it.

Does clear Elmer's work for these as well?
@CLIVE5ART

Elmer's glue is just PVA same stuff
Do you have a link for the recipes. Can Modge podge be used to seal the painting like a varnish?

In the iCards
Will modeling glue stick to a rock? I sometimes find the perfect rock for painting, but it has a chip in it, or divets on the surface...
@CLIVE5ART
4 жыл бұрын
All pva glue is basically the same stuff just different names
If you make too much, can you store it in a bottle and how long can it be stored before it hardens
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
All the product have long shelf life if the container is sealed correctly and kept from direct sunlight
Thanks for mentioning calcium carbonate, you've just reminded me to take my calcium and vit d3 pills! Is it true that vegetable glycerine can be used as a drying retardant?
@CLIVE5ART
4 жыл бұрын
Yes it can act as a retarder but only a few drops in water anymore and it can make the paint sticky
I love pva glue but here in the USA it's exspensive..
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
School glue is the same stuff
Hi Clive, Do I have to use the sealer on MDF boards before I gesso, or is the gesso a sealer as well? thank you very much for the hacks, who knew you could do so much with PVA glue.
@CLIVE5ART
5 жыл бұрын
I recommend a sealer then gesso better to air on the side of caution and it’s cheep to make so on takes a little time
Brilliant ideas Clive. These mediums are so expensive that they can be off putting to buy if you are only starting and not sure you will use them. Having multi purpose pva makes it affordable and you can try more. One question, where to buy calcium carbonate, it there a brand available in DIY shops?

Elmers is the same stuff
Hi Clive, I really appreciate all the great tips you share. As I suffer from latex allergy I was a little shocked when you said PVA is on latex basis. Just here to share that I've checked and it does not contain latex. PVA is a thermoelastic polymer, the same type of plastic they use for pacifiers.
@CLIVE5ART
4 жыл бұрын
What I ment is latex paint does not contain latex these days it's just a name given
8 quid on amazon for same amount
Confused...…
Hello! I'm beggining painting with your intersting vidéos. Please what about cleaning brush after using pva? It still sticks on, washing in water. I also tried with cellulosic diluant but that has not convincted me. Sorry for the "approximative" language. Thank you!
OMG. Today I bought some clear gesso. It was $16.00 USD.. I think it was about 6 ounces. I'll be making my on from now on!
