I am brand new to canvas painting. I just attempted my 2nd & 3rd yesterday. Every tip you gave was every mistake and problem I ran into. My paint dried out, my canvas was dry, my paint globbed, etc. These tips will be a game changer for me. You have no idea how much you helped. Thank you so much Sir!
Very useful and practical video. Great! Thanks a lot.
I am loving this channel. Your sense of humor cracks me up. 😂 It is sort of like dad humor.
Nice tips thank you
Excellent‼️
Dankjewel 👍🤝🇱🇺🤗
Hi Clive. My dad, Joe in Florida, has been watching you from the beginning :-) We watch you together when I am down visiting. Very informative! Love the bits of humor. I am happy to see the ads and obvious more sponsorship-congrats for that! Lived in Newquay (Cornwall) for 6 years and loved it! Thanks for videos!
Thank you, again! I haven't seen tips like this anywhere else.
Amazing tutorial, the best possible advice for anyone just learning. Brilliant, thank you!!
Thanks!
I am so happy I found you! These are SO HELPFUL!
So happy I found you channel! I've had canvases, paints, and brushes for a couple of years and finally have time.
I really like how you pronounce the word water, Sir.😍
Extremely helpful! I've learned all this the hard way. The odd part is that no other artists are telling anyone these things. I need to learn how to link your channel on other comments. A big issue that I don't see that explains things very clearly is artist grade paints, canvas types and brushes.
I have forgotten about my brushes, before, and have had the handles fall off, or the paint, from the handles. However, I never thought about the bristles swelling. These are great tips.
Thank you so much for your informative advice you are very wholesome and a great teacher.
Nice. The info on non-water thinner was super helpful

Your tips and advice are saving money! With them brushes and colours last much longer.
I literally stumbled upon you doing a picture of swans in a sunset but didn't save the location and couldn't remember your name -- I'M SO HAPPY I FOUND AGAIN!
Thanks for all the tips. I'm enjoying trying to paint so these tips are very welcome.

Thank you for great tips. So I’ve learned where some of my mistakes are being made. As I’m new to painting I needed to know......
Keep the hints coming love your sense of humour being a beginner I do rinse my brushes as I go in my case I use a lot of brushes trying to get the right one but I wash out paint then into clear water wipe lay flat & when finished painting wash in QV genial wash then clean rinse dry with a hand towel squeezing out water then as you say lay flat & dry over night so I may not be able to paint but at least I do right by my brushes , no your hints are appreciated Clive, all the best Roger from down under Australia 🇦🇺👍🏻🤗

Thank you for all your wonderful wisdom. Sadly, shipping from the UK is a bit pricey to the USA, so I wondered if you have any opinion on "The Masters" Brush Cleaner and Preserver?" And if I were using it, would I still want to use the Windex?
Can you show us how to make a medium mix please
Hi Clive, thank you for all the interesting facts you are giving. I have a question, should I use an isolation coat before adding varnish to my acrylic painting? If so can I make these myself too? I have tried going to your website to see the things you make but it doesn't show all you offer, it is just cups!!!!
Using decorators matt or vinyl acrylic varnish as a medium?
If you don't have a spray bottle is there another way to wet front ant back of canvas?
I would love a recipe for homemade soap, my great grandmother made soap, but that never got passed down, I've seen other recipes, but I TRUST what you do...thanks!

Thanks very much for your vids. Very interesting ones about priming. Can you tell me, if I want to paint on heavy watercolour paper, board or cardboard, do I still have to prime? Also, do you deliver to Spain? Thanks.
@CLIVE5ART

Yes to Spain...and no to paper it's already absorbent
u really deserve and have earned the right to sell your paintings too for profit for you and family! giving to charity is good, but still don't toss. sell them also, even if you do it through a different sourse..
Clive could liquid soap be used as an alternative to a bar of soap?
Do i need to add water for every paint I brush with
I have heard that synthetic brushes are considered better for acrylic? I always said either those or bristle, personally!
Hi sir Can i use Valspar Aspire Sample Satin Tint Base Medium Base) over acrylic decupage Plz guide me Does we use this for craft? One thing more plz tell about another product can we use to protect glass decupage with this product Iam new and i want to learn ACE Great Finishes Varnish (946.4 ml, Clear Gloss)
Thank you so much for your advice. I’m trying to reuse canvases that have already been painted on. Do you have any advice for us recyclers? I’m just starting out and broke. Thank you again!

I think you can lay a few layers of gesso over it to cover the picture and gives you a “new” canvas.

Some of the tones in my paintings have too much contrast. Will mixing white gesso and water make a nice transparent layer that will soften my paintings?
Does using a stay wet palette contribute to the overuse of water in acrylic paint? I love the way you treat your brushes as if they were kittens :)
@CLIVE5ART
4 жыл бұрын
No not really as it does not come in to direct contact with the paint
Is there much difference between a $6 tube of acrylic & a $12 tube?

CLIVE5ART Your secret is safe with me, thank you for replying. Deb.
I use nylon brushes for ink drawing/painting. I found hair brushes lasted 5 minutes, even when I took care of them (painting in acrylics). Years of mistakes and mucking around with little reward has scared me off acrylics. The water thing...people get previous about those stupid little tubes, which nobody should use, and trying to mix too many colours in the beginning. What i bought were the ready-mixed colours that are most useful. For beginners, why not forego mixing more than two colours or values? People need to lose their fear of it. Though some find water colours fiddly. I've never had any struggles with them, I find them almost too easy.
Can i not use turpentine? Or thinner or alcohol?
So , what I understand from the video is ...we need to use spray on the canvas frequently for let the colors be wet? Or is there any liquid to make the colors wet? And let them be wet for long?
Don't you hate it when your canvas catches fire because you use too much water? I think we've all been there. ;)

Can you dish soap?
Great tips, as usual. Windex has ammonia and alcohol. Is that the same as the product you have in Wales? Hand sanitizer and hair spray also have alcohol and work really well for getting paint out of clothes. If it's dried into your clothes, scrub some hand sanitizer in with an old toothbrush. I even got a small spot of paint off a shirt that had gone through the dryer.

I guess that’s why it works I believe the ingredients are the same
Question: If I Gesso the front of the canvas so the paint doesn't get absorbed, why do I need to spray the back of the canvas with water?
Thank you sooooooo much for this invaluable information Clive, i watch all your video's and some times binge watch lol . Bought a mister today in fact while out shopping ha ha ..( Seems i live not that far from you and now no Bridge tolls makes it easier to cross the bridge lol ) Thank you once again ..
