In this video, CARPology's Joe Wooltorton outlines five quick tips which will improve your overall spodding approach and could ultimately put more carp on the bank for you. N.B. The competition has now closed.

Very informative, I love the Carpology training sessions.
Great Video.. am new to Spodding so this is a great help
Also Keep the braid wet to stop frap up's little tip
I learnt about protecting your finger the hard way.... the cut was so clean it didnt even bleed! 🔪
also 0,28 nylon between shockleader and braid so it absorbs the clip shock
You forgot one of the most important steps. Having your bait bucket on a stand or other buckets to save bending down after every cast and saving your back

Deffo get the legs and strap peice, packs away to nothing and besides the back save its quicker, and the muscle memory is better for keeping a more consistent form to the casting. If your putting out 2+ kilos off particles, well dont knock it till you try it. Not game changing, but worth the £20 investment.

Hes pretty much the thinnest carp angler.
I have thus Combo to😉
Am I missing somthing here because every air bomb I have used works intermittently. When u first buy one them goes to shit and then never opens at all . Really would like it to work coz the concept is great and gets around the pesky seagulls mullering every boilie u put out any info appreciated . I have even cut the spring down the release the pressure slightly on the spring .

Hit the clip hard like he does in the video. I wouldn't use one though they break far easier than a normal spod and the bait spreads when it hits the water anyway.
What bobbins are those?
Have not spiffed before so anyone answer this question? If I’ve clipped my rods up and they are in say 12ft of water, if I clip my spod up the the same amount of wraps, as the spod empties in the surface and does not sink through the same arc my lead does, this means my spod will be emptying behind my rigs and not on top of them. How do I get round this, how much shorter should I clip up the spod depending on depth of water?

I was wondering the same thing, one of the waters I fish can be upto 20ft deep

@@bulldozer915 yeah so that going to have quit a swing down if it’s clipped up surely???
Still amazed the amount of carp anglers who buy carp branded braid, it's rubbish! Spiderwire and whiplash 8 strand are the market leaders.

I use spiderwire all the time. Im super happy with their products
Dont think the comp link is working
Comp is closed coming up as past comps
I find sometimes I crack off when I spod, sometimes it's one in every cast I crack off, sometimes it never happens, I keep my rod vertical with a limp arm using 50lb arma kord and 20lb spod braid I always wet, seems to happen hitting the clip with force so any tips please ?

Are you cracking off at the knot joining the braid to shock leader ?

@@vents82 nah man when I hit the clip it's stupid, keep my rod tip high and everything, possible to have a dodgy batch of spod braid maybe

Are you double wrapping your line round the clip? You could be shock loading the braid at the clip if it's not wrapped round tight on the clip by just passing it underneath it once. 👍🏻

@@bobbyj7826I’m having a lot of crack off issues. Is it best to double wrap the braid around the clip?
@bobbyj7826

@@ptheledge5390 just make sure the line has no room to slip, hence the shock load comment. Where are you cracking off?
Don't forget to keep your braid moist. And the answer is one test curve of 5lb

Only one test curve 🤞🤞
I missed the winner of the pod rod was it me 😂😂😂🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️

5lb test curve
You can't stay "distance casting" and mention 3.60m rod... 3.90+ for distance. I use 3.96m, 3.75 lbs rods and i cast with rig and bait, 150m+ with a max of 185m with helicopter rig and 16mm boilie.
That reel is the worst reel out there, the arm keeps closing on every cast ,
Luke is useless full stop...
