    This is a very helpful video. We have picked up some good ideas from it. I would like to say that the sea fishing guys say' the left arm is the one that should be the power pull', so I will look forwards to blending both ideas.

    Yes he did use braid and whatever else but the thing to take away I'd by using these tips Joe managed to cast an extra 25+ yards than before so it shows the tips works

    This is good video, how is the rod not buckling with 3 4 5 6oz lead or snap on casting? Most 10 to13ft rods I see have just 100-150g cast weight? when I go to large reservoirs I feel like bringing my beach caster when Im trying to cast with coarse rod with 1/4 to 1oz lead. People saying cast a few metres or you need to cast 150s+ yards to get to the deep. I can put my sea reel on my coarse rod with 40lb shock and 20lb main. Wont the fish see the thick lines. Im used to use the smallest hook and thinnest lines you can get away with. 6-10lb. line.

    Joe, as a recent convert to baitcasting reels for lure fishing, I recently discovered line conditioner that bass anglers in the USA use to increase the castability of their lines. Do you know of any distance carp anglers who use line conditioner? Don't know if it works or if it's just a gimmick. Cheers.

    Who uses 50lb braid shock leaders when fishing for carp . Who cares how far anyone can cast with a casting setup . Use 15lb line and a 3oz lead and a full rig and bait and then practice .

    I do a double uni. With the spod braid I do 5 turns on the knot, and 4 turns with the leader as this is enough for the knot to be strong but small enough to go through the rings really smooth

    These long distance casters made me think all people use braid to catch carp, I was about to change my .30 mono to braid lol. But tell me guys, would it be possible to change to a thin diameter braid as main line, and use a shock leader /mono of about 10 meters to give me that bit of slack and absorption... currently im using main 0.30mm mono to a leaderleadclip with 3oz, PVA bait and rig and im reaching only about 65yards... I think i can improve my technique alotbut still

    No point a lot of the power of the cast is lost with mono because of the stretch in it, I would be looking at using a .30 to .32 mono with a 50lbs braided shock leader, a helicopter rig with the shortest hook link you can get away with and the smallest bait. Do away with any lead core as thats heavy and will slow the rig down faster.

    As It Is just keep your finger out of the way when you cast, just let it go and pull it straight back to grip the rod. Or I fully open my hand to feather it down

  • @johngmls
    @johngmls6 жыл бұрын

    I have to agree with everyone else in that using braid is completely unrepresentative as I don't know any fishery that allows braid mainlines. If you are into casting competitions then that is fine but not for fishing. It would also have been a bit more relevant if you had used your own gear. Maybe you should do a follow up video showing how much the new technique has actually worked for you?

  • @johngmls

    @johngmls

    Hi Tony, the reason for questioning the use of braid is the fact that almost no fisheries allow you to use it. Its characteristics are completely irrelevant if you cannot use it. If you are showing how to improve your casting when carp fishing it must be relevant. Using a line that you almost certainly cannot use for carp fishing makes this pointless. If this was a sea fishing video then it would make sense but as it is about carp fishing it completely misses the mark. Almost every angler would increase their casting range by swapping to braid as I know from sea fishing but this is about carp fishing so it should have been done with mono.

    It's great if ur going into a casting contest, but you guys need to make it more realistic, as said below, use standard stuff, even better, more skill is needed to get a rig under overhanging trees or bushes, have you perfected your low trajectory side casting, now that would be a vid for people wishing to get under those tree branches and bushes. If you need so tips on that, give me a call...

    So basically, with mono, hooklink, bait and a lead free leader, you're gonna be hitting 110 max. Pretty average considering the gear.

    False. Best retrieve rate money can buy is 46inches per full rotation. Based on calculations you're pulling in 12 ft per rotation. There's no such thing, I've seen hundreds of reels and not one can do that.
