5.7 V8 Toyota Tundra Road Trip! Horrible MPG?

    “Worth Reading” I am probably the biggest tundra fan boy! & I never bought one because of all the bad reviews about its MPG! I gave in and finally bought one. I realized the MPG wasn’t bad! So, I shared it with you! I didn’t want to just do 50mph home cause then we can get 20+ I pushed it (as you saw) and got 18! 🔥🔥

  • @zzoinks

    @@4WDisLifebut the bad thing about gas is it's prices are unpredictable based on global market and oil cartel.OPEC can at any time limit supply to increase their profits and skyrocket gas prices like they did in the 70s. Then all our gas guzzlers would become very undesirable/sell poorly, which is what hurt GM in 07,08. They made a well designed truck just in time for sales of trucks to drop due to crazy fuel prices.

  • @nicholaspetre1
    @nicholaspetre18 ай бұрын

    My record was 24 mpg couple of times. My 2021 Tundra DoubleCab RWD demonstrates anywhere from 18 to 24 mpg on freeway based on the speed you are going. Every 5 miles per hour increment gives you a different MPG after you reached 6th gear. Being empty on a straight road when speed is 50-60mph the mileage is good, 60-70 it is ok, after 70 it is bad. I made a habit of planning my trip in advance and leaving a bit earlier so I could drive within 55-65mph range. Once get into traffic or have to drive faster than 65 mph, I clearly say Bye Bye to fuel economy in my mind. And city driving is usually about 10-13 mpg while driving very gently. Yes, this particular truck is not about economy. It is about love and when you love you ve got to pay. I recorded every fuel charge I did since bought it brand new and the average MPG for the last 10K miles on odometer is 14.15 MPG. Always always gently driven. It is bad, no argue in that. Do I regret?! A bit… But on the other hand for $45K in 2021 after COVID there was nothing else to buy. Those Fords and Chevys are such a junk. People complain so bad. I made a choice to rather pay at the pump than at the repair station.

It doesnt do much better than the v8s but where it shines is in towing. Id rather tow withbit over a 6.2 any day. I keep my oil changes to 5k or less and have had none of the infamous ecobopst problems. But i digress. Thats honestly pretty decent for older tech v8.

    If the road test is looking to see how bad it is on gas….then you’re doing a great on. 5000RPM ??? And a 70mile road trip is hardly enough to get an average MPg. Take it slow, get up to speed easy, glide…..& do it for a couple tanks of gas…..that’ll give you a reading of how good it can be. Even at 17-20MPG, and that’s similar to the new V6, however the new V6 isn’t there just to improve the mileage by 1-2, it’s there to drastically improve emissions.
